This genre/style is probably one of my favorite kinds, and it’s just really fun to read. Yes, ML is a bit slow, but it only makes it more fun to watch him slowly realize that he’s an idiot. It’s really sad when people complain about the romance being slow-burn (not necessarily here, but probably in the comment section of the RAWS), and when it’s not even supposed to be a major plot point. Anyways, enough of me complaining, I usually don’t like commenting 😅

Think about it. Say you met someone at a masquerade ball, both of you wearing masks that cover most of your face. You guys had a one-night stand without taking your masks off, though you tell each other your names (but those names are unisex and work equally well for both genders). Years later you meet someone who has the same name as your one-night stand but they are presenting as the opposite gender and do it so well you can’t tell that they’re pretending. Every so often a few context clues might point to this being the person you’re looking for, but you never get anything solid. How long do you think it would take you to figure the truth out, if you ever did?
If you even have reason to contact the author, tell them that we love their novel and are completely behind the way they tease out Ke Ji and Lu Liran figuring out who each other is.

Both parties have suspected each other, BUT there are enough discrepancies they both want some more clues/proof.
(1) I suspect they both identified each other by hormones/scent during their one night than anything else. But now they are both taking injections to alter their hormones/scent to the opposite gender. Additionally, LL’s natural hormones may have changed after pregnancy, childbirth, and long term hormone use.
(2) LL is “so heavily scarred even his dotting big brother would not recognize him.” KJ is going out of his way to act like his personality is completely different.
(3) They only knew each other one night and apparently most of that was making a little bean. The next day was a huge battle that ended the war and the emotional crash that comes with it.
Unfortunately, they both have many enemies on this world (as high ranking military officers in an unpopular war) and are both part of prominent families (which makes them targets of people wanting their respective family’s favor or fall). This leads both to be cautious and suspicious by nature; preventing them from simply asking.
TLDR, I feel like this slow burn, round about reveal is realistic. I would also not be surprised if KJ is strongly suspecting LL to be his lost hubby and stalking him to confirm.

Authors don’t often write about their situations, but it feels like whenever I read that they are spammed with negative comments. Srsly, constructive criticism (if justified) is a nice thing, but just spreading discord there… do they have nothing better to do than to waste their time with stuff they think sucks? ^^° Until today I don’t understand humans lol

Ke Ji’s setting in a bit inexplicable, but it’s obvious that that’s not the author main fun. It’s already fine that she brought the two together. Thankfully the novel is completed, and it’s pretty good.
