  1. Ohhh~ the author just randomly dropping childhood friend as 2nd male lead to add drama. So cliché~ still like it tho~

brews tea for the drama 🍵

  2. They interact so naturally as equals, wow I love them. Talking things through properly, Mu Hanzhang giving Jing Shao his support, the little exchanges during things like boring ceremonies, it’s all great! And then comes political intrigue and a returned childhood friend, Mu Hanzhang’s status being raised… It’s really interesting, in a lot of stories there’s that whole “if you say you understand the mind of the emperor aren’t you saying you could be the emperor” faux pas, but in this case his moves genuinely feel pretty obscure rather than “everyone’s just pretending not to understand while playing the emperor like an instrument”. This emperor sure has a lot going on. Anyway, I appreciate that Jing Shao set aside jealousy so quickly and moved right on to “Mu Hanzhang would have been top scorer if he could participate,” such a great (if childish) sentiment to hold considering what stopped Mu Hanzhang was literally his marriage to Jing Shao. I feel like in a lot of stories there’d be more of that “but it’s good he’s mine anyway” feeling, but Jing Shao genuinely feels indignant on Mu Hanzhang’s behalf, to some extent. The pure straightforwardness of Jing Shao’s feelings is, as always, just wonderful

Thank you so much for translating! <3

  3. That childhood friend better get his act right or I’m gonna hunt him down for fun^^ Thanks for the chapter!!

  4. Even when Jun Qing stops the “punishment / lesson”, Xiao Huang prevents Jing Shao from becoming too intimate with his wang fei 😂

The appearance of Jun Qing’s childhood friend – and possible future lover – is so cliché. However, I long to see Jing Shao drinking vinegar! If this childhood friend is really interested in Jun Qing, the couple’s situation will become really interesting…

The emperor’s move is smart and so strange… However, I am a little perplexed about some of the events in this scene. First, I am surprised that it is the 3rd ranked scholar who should gift a flower to the emperor. Why is it not the 1st one? It would make more sense! Second, even though I understand how smart is Ma Zhuo when he gives the flower to Jun Qing, I would not have dared to do so. Indeed, that the emperor asked him to pick one of his sons and, even though the sons-in-law are considered as children of the imperial family, it was quite obvious that the emperor was speaking about his “true” sons. What would Ma Zhuo have done, confronted with the emperor’s anger? Happily for him, the king was impressed by his move 😅

  5. I say, I too was sweating for this Ma Zhuo. Such unlucky fellow 😅. Before, the incident with incognito Cheng Wang and Cheng Wang Fei. Now the trick of Emperor 😂.

Also poor Jing Shao. Not only another man gave flower to his Jun Qing, another one secretly having feeling too it seems.

He just felt that Jing Shao was quite similar to Xiao Huang when it lay on the edge of the carriage window to look outside. YEAH, I had a feeling, one of this day, a jealous Jing Shao will also goes “WAWU” 🤣.

  6. Now we need to interview our Cheng Wang regarding the childhood friend

Reporter (• ▽ •;) : Cheng Wang what you think about the childhood friend of Wang Fei’s?

    Jing Shao: (/¯◡ ‿ ◡)/¯ ~ ┻━┻

  7. Ooh this is getting more and more intriguing, i love how most of the time JS is torn between jealousy and being proud of MHZ being given the recognition he deserves

  8. Por un momento pensé que erea un ex novio 😂 eso hubiera sido divertido. Pero la forma en que lo mira, se preocupa y se pone triste me dice que ahí hay algo humm 😏

    • OH NO OH NO OH NO NO NO NO

when u think it will all go smoothly a wild opponent appears! Damn it.

😒 Gotta prepare myself if the worst comes…. searching on Google “how to slap a fictional character in the face”

As always thank u for the amazing job <3

  9. Hi, now that I got up to date with this novel I realized that this website has so many other novels and the translations seems pretty good. But I do not know what should I read next, any recommendations?

I really love the realationship between JS and MHZ

  10. Ooh, wonder what will happen now that Qin Zhaoran has suddenly surfaced?!

    Thanks for the chapter 💕

  11. Ooohhhh. Who is that childhood friend? hehehe.

I love how the two of them respect each other and treat other as an equal. Though for Jing Shao, Jun Qing is should and more important and higher than he (Jing Shao) is.

  12. That Qin Zhaora is suspish. He might either be someone who will be roped with the side of our Cheng Wang or he would be a nuisance to our main couple. However, that would be weird because they are relatives ahhh

  13. I loved the story so far. It warms my heart and my cheeks hurt of smiling all the time. Now, I liked the fact that a past lover came. Our JQ had a past and now, JS will know about it, and understand how lucky he is (even luckier than he thought). As for the ex-lover: suck it! You’ll cry a lot looking at what you lost
