I love that Mu Hanzhang’s identity wasn’t even revealed until the end, after he’s gone, so it was purely “wow this guy is so talented and erudite, who is he” instead of “he’s showing off to prove he’s smart and I will ignore it on principle.” Beautifully executed, I love Mu Hanzhang so much, he’s just so good at all of this. Something about how he and Jing Shao ride on horseback together and communicate and just…everything makes me really happy, too. They’re great

    Jing Shao seems to be preparing his older brother’s accession to the throne using his wang fei’s land. The fact that he kept it from Jun Qing for so long is quite outstanding, but why did he not speak about it earlier? He knows he can trust his wife… Maybe we will have the answer in the next chapter.

  17. I love this chapter so much! I knew MHZ would have another opportunity to show his talents. And also, I like how Zhou Jin was so nonchalant about the reveal. He just couldn’t be bothered, but deep down I know he’s amused. 😂

    Anyways i have the weirdest most random feeling (or wishfull thinking?) that if jing chen’s future wife is a male, it would be a character we knew already, and it would be someone unpredictable! Like jiang lang for example😅

    • Sh*t!!!!! I didn’t connect the dot from that little theatre before! I remember the Empress surname is Gu. And the revealed Gu really had interesting…. character 😅. It might be because that Gu is so gong-like that I just brushed it aside, waiting for his older brother or younger brother mentioned to make proper appearance 😆.
