  1. I’m really happy for MH! He can finally fulfill his desire to serve the court and prove his value and not just be ‘Cheng Wang Fei’.

    Thx for the chapter

  2. RIP these idiots.

I’m so happy for Mu Hanzhang, his star has finally broken through with its light!

This chapter was so satisfying, for a different reason then usual ❤️ thanks for giving it to us

  3. Yay!!! I’m so proud of MHZ!!!!

Jing Shao, i know they insulted your husband, but please don’t do anything too rash!

  4. Two questions after reading this chapter:

Firstly, how could Mu Hanzhang / Jun Qing lose his title as Wen Yuan? I mean, he got it by himself at a poetry meeting, how could he lose it? Because he became the Cheng Wanf Fei so no one could call him like this because of his new status as Wen Yuan was an honorific title and not a true title conferred by the emperor? I understand it like this. No matter what, this marquis title is a good one.

Secondly, did they accept to let Jing Shao’s last concubine leave to the countryside with the demoted Song An? I think they did, but maybe I did not understand correctly (English is not my native language).Even though I am really happy to see that people recognises Jun Qing’s value (even his own father who regrets not taking good care of him before), which was Jun Qing and Jing Shao’s dream, I am pretty amused by the fact that he gets angry because his wang fei becomes “famous” and is now the subject of mockery. Where there is celebrity, there is also jealousy and gossips. He himself knows this since people usually consider him as ferocious and dangerous because of his military achievements… Xiao Shao, stop attacking people to preserve Jun Qing’s feelings, it is bad for your reputation (e.g. his fight with Gu Huaiqing, his revenge on Mu Lingbao, etc.).

Thanks for the translation of this chapter and the previous ones!

    • @Esteyl

To answer your first question, the Wen Yuan that the scholars and literattis called him before he married, was not an official tittle, rather its some sort of ‘nickname’ implying how wise he was in the field. Now, our big brother has chosen that same name as his tittle thus making it official. Second question, the did not yet accept Song Ans request. And Song An has not been demoted yet. That letter that big brother handed to Jing Shao is a request from Song An to let him take his daughter with him in leaving the town, if in any case he will be demoted and outcasted.I commented again, cauze im not sure if I replied to you.. * *confused

    • The first one: Jun Qing actually gained the Wen Yuan title through poetry meeting. Once he married a royal, he is unable to go to the meeting anymore, much more as a male wife. Remember how the male wives had their own meeting? Male wives lost their chance to gain scholarly related title as they are now seen as “backyard women”, so they also can’t join such gathering anymore. So I believe Jun Qing automatically lose his title as newer talent that joined the poetry meeting will then be titled “Wen Yuan” in the future.

Second question: I too think Jing Shao and Jing Chen accepted the condition of Song An. After all, it is beneficial to them. The list are all those under Jing Yu. They will exposed it in the court later, with Song An’s crime neither too big nor too small. So he can be demoted safely to bring his family member. What Jing Shao does after getting the list is just comforting Jun Qing. Because Jun Qing is seen as jealous towards Song An unconditional love towards his daughter. Even when she had no value, he didn’t abandon her. Unlike North Marquis that now took Jun Qing’s side because he is finally valueable.

      • Thank you for your answer.

Yes, this is what I thought, concerning the nickname. At first, I thought that scholars could keep calling him “Wen Yuan”, even though he married a prince, as it is a nice nickname. But, after reading that he lost this title because of his marriage, I considered that he could not be called like this because of his change of status. But, for me, I found it weird because I thought that scholars should still be able to call him by this title (it is just a nickname, and a good one, so…). However, I did not understand by reading the story that Jun Qing could not go to scholars’ meetings anymore.. I thought that he joined the male wives’ ones just because Jing Shao requested him to do so and he wanted to meet other male wives. I knew he was not really part of scholars’ meetings anymore, but I thought it was still possible for him to join them if he wanted to, but he did not because he wanted to break his links with the scholar life as he was not able to enjoy it anymore and did not want to suffer from this situation any longer… How stupid am I that I did not understand it clearly? I forgot that status is everything back at the time and that male wives and scholars do not mingle. Jun Qing is so amazing that I thought that I certainly thought that he would receive special treatment ^^

Yes, I understood that Jing Chen accepted Song An’s request to bring his daughter to the countryside with him because it really looked like he was just informing Jing Shao and Jun Qing about the matter. He was like “I am going to demote Song An. Well, he gave these letters and, in exchange, he just wants to bring along his daughter, so…[I accepted]”. And yes, Jun Qing is a little bit jealous, but he should not because 1) Song Lin was not a bastard so she always had value for her father (before marrying) and created a bond woth her father until her marriage; 2) Jun Qing always had his mother’s unconditional love; 3) his value is now recognised by everyone; and 4) now, he has a lovely husband and a strong household with loyal servants by his side. 🙂

  5. Thank you so much for the chapter! I’m so happy for MHZ. He deserves as much! ❤️ But seems there will be more things he needs to do to prove he deserves the title since, as seen with this chapter, some people still think he got the title cause he had connections. Haters gonna hate. But I trust his abilities. Go MHZ! ❤️

  6. Mu Hanzhang got back the title he used to be called! I’m so happy for him, everything that he lost due to his marriage slowly being regained… It’s much better that Jing Shao was able to get their relationship like this—I feel like in most stories, the best a character who lost out on their ambitions gets is “at least this kind of life isn’t bad,” nothing near actually reclaiming dreams they were forced to abandon. Mu Hanzhang really deserves to be in court, too, he’s smart enough for it! Something about all this reminded me of the opening chapter—the Mu Hanzhang then, too, was still intelligent and clear-headed, even though he had basically no time to show it. He really is like a sword that stayed sharp all along, unwilling to lose to his life circumstances no matter how unfair they were. He’s just…a really good man. Anyway, it’s good that he’s taking things slowly now while he figures out the ways of being in court, but a part of me hopes he gets to show off as an official, so that people will have a more immediate reason to remember he deserves his title. These outsiders who can’t even recognize the royal family on sight sure are gutsy, saying something lewd about someone in the royal family in public—because Mu Hanzhang officially is part of the royal family, on top of being a Marquis. Whether or not they passed the exam, with attitudes like that they were never going to do well haha

Thank you so much for translating! <3

  7. Marquis Wen Yuan is a great title for Mu Hanzhang 🤗

  8. Aaaaaah Wan Fei most have looked stunning in the new robes 😍. So happy for. Him and his mom!!! And go slap all those idiots hubby!

Hope this will help you clear things up.

  10. “Brother, why are you randomly cursing at people?”

Jing Shao: I am not a brother of pile of corpses.

    😂

Tbh, I am boiling too. Just a bunch of wannabe that is sure to fail. Just look at their conduct in public. Dare to talk about Jun Qing!

  11. After that author note mentioning Jing Chen and some Empress Gu, not sure if it’s who we probably suspect haha, but I really am looking forward to Jing Chen going to Jiangnan~
