Ye Xun ran his hand through his hair as he walked through his old home. He has come here way more than he did since he was 18. Ye Xun hated being in this home that turned colder than the arctic region once his father passed.
Sighing, Ye Xun made his way to his mom’s office. When he entered the home, one of the maids mentioned that his mother had not left her office yet. Once he made it to the office, Ye Xun wondered if he should walk away.
He had an incredible weekend with Chang Min, and now it feels like his positive mood is starting to crash down. Being in this home and anywhere near his mother made him feel cold and hateful.
Giving himself a few seconds of breathing time, Ye Xun’s hand landed on the doorknob as he slowly twisted it open. Once he opened the door, Ye Xun stepped inside, closing it behind him.
His mother did not look up as she was typing away on her laptop. “Son, it is good to see you.” She greeted him.
“Is it?” Ye Xun responded, making his way towards the couch in the office. He sat down, leaning back against the sofa as he crossed his legs.
“Must you continue to fight me? Most men show respect towards their mother.” Li Hua brought up the same argument as her fingers did not halt in her work.
“Their mothers most likely showed them care.” Ye Xun refuted.
Li Hua sighed, finally pausing her hands as she looked up. Her expression showed annoyance before slipping away. “Stop acting as if I did not give you a roof over your head and took care of you.”
“Mother, is your memory starting to fail you? My father is the one who took care of me and gave me a roof over my head. And when he passed, where were you? Nowhere because it was the maids and butlers who continued to raise me.”

“You are too old to make stupid life choices. Being the kind mother I am, since I don’t want to see you hit rock bottom, I have set up a few marriage interviews with some women from top families.”
A moment of silence passed in the room after his mother finished her words. Then, as half a minute settled in, Ye Xun started laughing. His laughter filled the room, creating tears in his eyes as he clenched his stomach.
Man, his mother really threw her last card at him.
He could see his mother getting angry as he kept laughing. Her face looked like a dragon getting ready to blow its fuse. He could almost see imaginative smoke coming out of her ears.
Once Ye Xun finally calmed down, coughing from his laughter while he wiped his tears, he looked directly into his mother’s eyes. “You are funny if you think I would go see those girls. There is no way, and I am far from hitting rock bottom. I am not leaving my boyfriend, ever.”
His mother stood up, finally snapping, “Look here, you ungrateful brat, I am trying to help you! But, you keep meeting me with this teenage rebellion. You are a fucking adult, almost close to your goddamn thirties! What person would want to work with a fag.
“Do you want to be talked about and judged like that freak, Xian Bo? Learn to be fucking obedient and listen to your mother. I know what’s fucking best for you.”
Ye Xun looked down at his fingers, checking his nails like they were interesting, as his mother was breathing heavily, looking at him with raging eyes that could light an entire forest.
“You know what is funny out of all this? That you only act like a mother when your image and reputation are up for question. You are the fakest person I have ever met, and it still amazes me that you think you know what’s best for me.
“Say all you want; I don’t care. I don’t care what those fake people think, I don’t care what the world thinks, and I honestly don’t give two fucking cents on how people view me.
“All I need is Chang Min, his parents, and my fucking cats to be the happiest person in the world. Money? Reputation? Is that going to give me an ounce of happiness that I feel? No. And mother, this is the 21st century—people are starting not to care if the person they are working with is gay.
“I am secure in life, but tell me, are you?” Ye Xun was surprised at how calm he was. Even after his mother used a slur, he did not let the building anger within burst to the surface.
“What is that supposed to mean?” His mother spat out.
Ye Xun stood up, stretching his legs as he dusted himself off. “Funny how lies are made when you don’t show up to major events. But, you will find out soon enough.” Ye Xun cryptically spoke as he walked towards the door.
“I did not say you can leave, get back here, Ye Xun.” Li Hua fussed.
Ignoring her, Ye Xun walked out, slamming the door behind him. After finally leaving the room, Ye Xun took a deep breath, noticing how his hands shook. He did not feel them trembling in the room, but something had to deal with his anger.
He gritted his teeth, ignoring it as he walked towards the front door. Ye Xun needed to speak with Chang Min before his calm facade would lose its power. As he harshly grabbed the doorknob, opening the door, Ye Xun almost ran into Li Shan.
“Ye Xun.” Li Shan greeted, stepping back when they almost hit each other. He noticed Ye Xun’s body language but did not comment on it. He knew it would only anger Ye Xun more.
Ye Xun tilted his head in acknowledgment, “Li Shan.”
And just as they were going to pass each other, Ye Xun reigned in his emotion as he stopped in his step. “Li Shan.” He called over his shoulder, causing the man to stop.
Li Shan looked over at Ye Xun, staring at the back of his head. “We should have coffee soon.” Ye Xun spoke before walking away.
Giving a slight smile, Li Shan nodded his head even though Ye Xun was already gone. Even if it is too late, I still want to make things right for your sake. Li Shan prayed to Ye Heng.

All three – and probably Xian Bo’s parents – seem to be members of the Horribly Selfish Bad Parents Club! I think it’s awesome that Chang Min’s parents made it into Ye Xun’s list of “all I need”. If he owns everything, then his mother can’t really threaten them, right?
