Voice Of Another ChanceChapter 32

As Sato heard all that, he couldn’t help but feel mortified.

With just a simple walk around the forest he ended up causing trouble for everyone. Moreover, he was the main lead, which meant most of the scenes required him for filming. Now, if the sprain was light, they would have to wait at least a few days before they could continue filming. That meant extra expenses for lodging, food and other small stuff. hmtFHl

“I am terribly sorry.” Sato whispered.

Grief-stricken, he buried his head into Asakura’s shoulder. As his arms tightened around the man’s neck, he could feel the comforting body warmth radiating from his back.

“It’s alright, Sato-kun. I will deal with everything after you get well. Asakura reassured him softly. “So, please stop thinking about unimportant things and focus on healing. Alright?”

Without waiting for Sato to reply, he turned towards the Producer, his tone taking a more professional inflection.   BnojAe

“Fukuoka-san, Sato-kun will be staying with me until he’s ready to continue filming. I have already checked in at the resort. Please help me inform Director Mayama of the situation.”

“Of course. I understand.” Fukuoka hurried to agree. “Mayama-san will have nothing against the idea. So, please take good care of Sato-kun for us. We’ll be seeing you tonight when we return to the resort. Maybe we can have dinner together.” He finished with an agreeable inflection in his tone.

Asakura simply nodded and continued to walk towards the car.

True to his word, Asakura first took Sato to the closest hospital and had a doctor do a thorough checkup.

The diagnosis was indeed a sprained ankle, but luckily it was a light one. Nevertheless, it still required at least five days of rest.

“Five days?!” Sato cried out in disappointment.

“It’s better than what I had expected. The situation could have been worse.”

Asakura rubbed his face with both hands, feeling like only now he could finally calm down. As his taut nerves began to relax, a hefty tiredness sipped through his entire body. He insisted on staying at the hospital for the night, and they only returned to the resort right before noon the next day. mNOnMc

For the following week, Asakura dealt with any financial issues that might have arisen from Sato’s break. Moreover, he was hellbent on acting very protective of the young man. He didn’t allow him to move around too much so as to not aggravate his injury.

Such an attitude only helped to enforce in the minds of the young actors the previous image they had of him: a young, second or third generation Yakuza Boss! filsTv

Thus, Sato spent an entire week of peacefulness in Asakura’s quarters, completely oblivious as to what was happening outside.

Asakura would spend most of the time with him, making sure he didn’t lack anything and that his leg was healing nicely. He always ordered the best food and drinks from the resort’s restaurant, making sure Sato was having nutritious meals. He was also careful to add the supplements the doctor had given them after the checkup.

However, no matter how grateful he was, there were still some things that Sato didn’t want to relent to. He was adamant on going to the bathroom and taking baths alone, much to Asakura’s disappointment. Be it due to shyness or simply because he didn’t want to trouble Asakura even further, Sato remained unyielding about his wishes and the other man could only concede.

Witnessing all this care and special treatment he was given, Sato couldn’t help but feel his heart stir. Every day he watched this man, who on normal days could command a team of people to do his bidding, fussing around worriedly like a mother hen. UCzZuw

Sato felt extremely grateful and touched for everything Asakura did for him. And, even though a part of him was consumed with guilt, he would still find himself wishing for the situation to continue a little longer. He feared that after his injury healed and the situation reverted back to normal, he would lose the special place he had in Asakura’s mind.

As one day his mind reached this point, Sato was startled by his own thoughts. He took in a sharp breath and looked outside the window.

At that moment he was seated on the tatami floor, having a small table placed before him. One hand was holding a cup of hot tea, while the other was laying gracefully on his lap.

Whenever he wasn’t paying attention, Sato’s thoughts slowly strayed towards Asakura. He wondered what that person was doing right now. Thinking about him and trying to imagine his thoughts and feelings, gave birth to a storm of emotions inside Sato’s heart.  4qUdZi

A tender and fragile sentiment was ultimately born out of this tempest, causing a warm smile to appear on Sato’s delicate ivory face. It looked like the sun on a spring blue sky, shining brightly and bringing warmth to the earth after a cold, long winter.

But a second later, just like a cloud covering the sun, his expression turned overcast. The light in his eyes gradually dimmed and his face held traces of distress. Wearing a dejected expression, he lowered his head to stare at the clear liquid inside the cup.

‘Is this really alright? Am I really allowed to feel this way about someone like him? After all, he… Asakura-san already has someone dear to him. And that person is Masato-sensei of all people. There is no way he could forget a person like that and look at me, is there?’

Thinking back, Sato recalled a conversation he had with Asakura after the last table reading, right before they began filming. 6UlNgy

That day, Masato Keita gave Sato his private number and offered to help whenever the young actor required assistance with his character.

After the short conversation, Keita and Rintarou left, leaving Sato behind with Asakura. Feeling his heart itching with a sudden curiosity, Sato raised his head and spoke to the other man in a low, soft voice.

“Is he the one? The person who caused Asakura-san to have such a sad expression when we first met?”

Hearing this question, Asakura smiled sadly, but didn’t deny it. 86mYGa

“En. Masato-sensei is the person I mentioned at that time.”

“Somehow, you don’t seem to be very affected at the moment. Are you already over the heartbreak?”

“Yes. Actually, I believe I’ve been over it for some time. But now I wonder whether it was really love that I felt or simply a strong infatuation.”

“Aren’t they the same?” IcegWs

“Not really. Love can sometimes contain infatuation, but the latter may not always lead to the former.”

“I see.”

Sato sighed, lowering his head and remaining quiet.

After a while, Asakura broke the silence. xRWhm1

“What about your situation? Why do you think it ended up like that?” he asked, glancing at the young man from the corner of his eyes.

Asakura’s voice was low and deep. His tone was tinged with a kind of magnetism that Sato found difficult to resist. Yet, there seemed to be something else concealed in that tone, something different than usual.

But at that moment, Sato wasn’t able to recognize what it was. Thus, he pushed the sensation to the back of his mind and gave a simple reply to the other man’s question.

“In my case, I believe it was a matter of different standing points.” TviI3V

“So, what one believed was a powerful love, the other brushed it off as something shallow?”

Sato remained silent, merely showing a slight smile. It wasn’t that he disagreed with Asakura’s assessment, but rather he wasn’t sure about how to reply to such words.

Seeing him grow quiet, Asakura let out a soft sigh. He placed a hand on the young man’s shoulder and spoke in a warm, comforting tone.

“It’s alright. In the end, it’s only natural that some people grow distant when they have different goals in life. You shouldn’t lose sight of those who appreciate and love you.” Pe RtB

When those words fell, Sato instinctively looked up and his eyes met Asakura’s for a brief moment.

When their gazes locked, a shiver went down Sato’s spine and his face flushed red. His scalp tingled and his mind became muddled.

He kept on staring for a little while longer, before finally snapping out of his daze.

As he pulled his eyes away, he found his mind was overcome with different thoughts and scenarios about the meaning behind Asakura’s words. That only caused him to be even more flustered and, in the end, he wasn’t able to continue the conversation.  yMdhup

Sato inwardly berated himself for thinking too much of it and acting silly.

Now, reflecting further on it, wasn’t that the first time he’d ever thought about something like that? For a split second, he had seen Asakura in a different light. But what about Asakura himself? How does he see Sato?

While his mind was mulling over these puzzling thoughts, Sato raised the hand that was holding the cup. Just as his lips were about to touch the rim, his ears suddenly picked up a sound coming from behind him. When he turned his head to look, he saw Touma standing in the doorway.

A/N: This is it for this weekend’s update. I have to admit that I am guilty of leaning towards a very doting ML. Especially when he is also a tad bit dangerous :blobcheeky: I hope you all enjoyed the chapters. Have a wonderful week ahead and I’ll see you all in the next updates! :blobaww:
