High sat beside the lake on campus and sighed.

Tonight was really starting to feel like a tentative bust. LeNt1X

Originally he was supposed to be studying. Spending time with Heart and Tone for the first time in almost a week.

But things had gone south. So horribly south.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

And he found himself here. He couldn’t even really remember how, or why. He had certainly never come this way before tonight.

He could have gone back to his house to study alone, but he didn’t want to go back since he knew that at around this time was about when Nine would arrive home. And he knew him, Nine would tease him for coming home late, then probably climb into his bed and demand to sleep with him, which was growing to be exhausting. SUaA9

Nine took so much energy these days. The kid had to be bored out of his tree since mom was gone. And since H.M>L was in between active promotions, he had far too much time for either Instagram or play. And High was his target.

He couldn’t help but think about the fact that something was going on with his friends he couldn’t figure out. Something strong and volatile.

He had even started feeling strange lately. Like something had been pulling him to stick around Heart more, an anticipation that ached through his bones and anchored him to the school. As if he were waiting for the stars to show him what it was.

For the past month or two everyone had been on edge, even Tone felt different. Like everything was a hair’s breadth from blowing up, like the match had lit the fuse to the firecracker but no one could see when it would go off.

The tension ate at him, making him stay up later and later. Unable to focus or study until really all he could do was tell his friends he was going home. Except when he had put his feet to the path to carry him home. He had instead found himself here. In a daze staring at the lake, and the sky, and listening to the sounds of the world around him. Steady and calm. Unmoved by his sense of unease. Unworried by the cares he felt weighing on his mind and heart.

When he had left, Heart had been fuming over a set of blueprints and cursing at himself that he didn’t have a demon lord to punch. Heart was practically broken over whatever it was. All High knew, was that it was probably Saint, one hundred percent  all the time. If something was bugging Heart now, whatever it was, it was Saint. And he thought that would bug him, but it really didn’t.

He should feel some sense of rivalry, or jealousy that someone else got the man he had wanted. Had longed for. But he just felt relieved. MafX6q

And he actually hadn’t even seen Saint since that day. Despite Saint having said they should all meet up sometime. High chuckled. I guess it makes sense. Why would a rich CEO have time to waste hanging out with a bunch of Uni kids, even if they were just a year or two younger. It made sense he wouldn’t just pop by unannounced at their school again. Making it a regular habit.

When they had first found this out. Heart had seemed relieved, but the more time passed the more upset he became over it. At this point all High could work out was that whatever was going on between the two of them. It was probably best to leave the two of them, well enough alone.

Tone and High really couldn’t tell what they had fought about. But they knew they had, it was like they wrote it across the sky. Saint had been on TV two days before Heart came back. Showing him in Chiang Mai, so it made sense Heart was upset he had been ditched. Or that was what they had thought. Except he had come back happy, and cheerful. It wasn’t till a few days later when Saint had texted him telling him he didn’t have to come in for a week that Heart fumed.

High had already tried waiting outside his classroom to talk to him but Heart didn’t want to talk about it. He just said he was extremely busy at work and didn’t have time for the extra class work. Then said he should be overjoyed, he had so much time to work on it, which just told High, that he wasn’t happy for all that extra time at all. Infinite amounts of time for doing only the ones that he had to, to complete. But it felt unfinished. Like Heart needed to talk something out, but also like maybe, High just wasn’t the person he needed right now. 9zesZN

High was so lost in his thoughts that when a soft, wet, slimy feeling fell on his arm he looked down and immediately panicked.

A scream ripped out of the top of his lungs.

And he whimpered like a baby, crying through his screams of terrified agony.

  1. My heart breaks for High 💔. He’s been caught in the middle by fate threads I think.

Heart should get his acts together, he clearly turned down saint so he should give saint the space he needs instead of sulking and ruining the study session. I love heart but I care more about saint 🙈.

    Thanks for the update

    • I think they both turned each other down and are now brooding. It’s never fun when one of your friends starts lamenting over a messy start to a relationship. But High is most certainly stuck for a moment at least.
