Translator's Note

Niupi candy (direct translation: cow-skin candy), is a sticky and chewy sweet sesame candy from Jiangsu. It doesn’t actually have cow skin in it, and is usually presented in flat strips.

Translator's Note

The classmate describes his family as “牛” (niú), which is a shorter/more recent version of “牛逼” (niú bī), meaning cow vagina. Somehow, niú bī got popularized as the go-to slang when you want to describe something that’s really cool/awe-striking. I’ve never heard anyone over 30 use the term (unless it’s dads trying to feel young). The latest variant of this slang is “6” or “666”(liù-liù-liù) because it rhymes with niú.

Translator's Note

Pride is written as 傲骨, and 骨 is the character for bone, so there’s a bit of a double image/meaning here.

  1. Can Li Qinhe stfu and gtfo of Lu Qian and Fu Jia’s lives for good? Him getting punched and ignored by Qi’an and lost the inheritance to a job position are way too mild compared to the emotional and physical pain he’d caused Fu Jia. I wish he’d live a life of despair and suffering but this isn’t your typical face-slapping novel so… Ugh. Poor jiajia 😠
