If You Don’t Fall in Love, You’ll DieCh71 - NG King——Movie King Ren.

Editor: Amaris

Although it was not a big mistake, Director Li was still worried. But Ren Jing was quite humble. After apologizing earnestly, he offered advice to Director Li, “There’s no need to start over again. We could shoot separately and use a close-up shot on me.” ahNp5T

The scene wasn’t a full-length shot, there was really no need to start over again. It would be acceptable to edit and put the shots together later.

This was a very common thing, but Director Li was quite worried now——he was never this worried before. After all, professionalism was indispensable for a professional actor. But now, he was really worried that ‘Movie King’ Ren would act even worse if he was unable to get himself into his character!

Ye Chen stated earnestly, “That’s alright, I could cooperate with you. It’s alright to retake again!” He unexpectedly felt that acting wasn’t so difficult!

Ren Jing stared at him and felt really moved. Then, he once again took a glance and admired his Ye Chen in a white shirt… Scm8H6

This was such a great temptation, it was practically his whole childhood dream… Movie King Ren was affected.

Fortunately, Yang Sen came to put the fire out. “Mr. Ye had performed really well just now. If you retake the scene, it’ll ruin the quality. Besides, it’s really hot today, Mr. Ye might feel uncomfortable if he keeps wearing a long-sleeved shirt.”

The latter half of his words caused a great effect. Ren Jing indeed wasn’t willing to have Ye Chen retake the scene again. He said, “I’ll do it myself.”

Ye Chen looked at him anxiously. “Are you sure you don’t need my help?”

If you keep looking at him like that, he won’t be able to restrain himself from kissing you! Yang Sen hurriedly suggested, “I just bought fruit tea, it’s really refreshing and will help chase the summer heat away. Mr. Ye, would you like to have some?”

Ye Chen shifted his gaze. He hurriedly replied, “Sure.” He felt quite thirsty because of the hot weather.

Yang Sen quietly took the ‘demon’ away and Ren Jing finally lived up to the title of ‘Movie King’ again. HvDnej

Ye Chen went to the shade then sat down to drink tea while Ren Jing did the shooting again.

Without needing to prepare or wait any longer, Ren Jing promptly got into his character when “action” was heard.

The camera was focused on Ren Jing’s face. His delicate features could be framed from any shot angle. Moreover, his expressions were also on point: smiling faintly—giving a feeling of estrangement—yet still keeping his manner. The aura of a scholar sprung up spontaneously, as if he had really been standing on the podium for six years. v48Dcy

The two only accidentally glanced at each other, yet the encounter seemed to have drawn out a picture of something which affected their whole life; a drop of ink stain which was enough to make one foresee a magnificent stirring epic of their future.

Looking at the camera, Director Li felt relieved in an instant: Not bad, not bad. The Movie King I have invited with all my might isn’t fake!

Seeing that the two had found the mood, Director Li eagerly wanted to continue the shooting. In the end, he looked up and caught sight of the two leading actors huddled together enjoying tea. g4xn6Y

Ye Chen offered a cup and urged Ren Jing, “Try it now, it’s very tasty. It’s cold and sweet.”

Ren Jing said under his breath, “Very sweet?”

Director Li inexplicably felt that he had a toothache. He somehow sensed that the tea was definitely going to be so, very sweet.

Ye Chen offered him a cup. Li Fu liked Ye Chen a lot now and didn’t want him to lose face, so he took the cup and drank the tea… l83JHQ

The fruit tea was indeed very tasty. He was about to tell Ye Chen “not bad, not bad at all”, but before he got to say them, Director Li lifted his head up and noticed that Ye Chen was gone. He looked around and found out that the young man who had just offered him fruit tea had run into Ren Jing’s side again…

Looking at Ren Jing and Ye Chen who were chatting as they drank tea, something came into Director Li’s mind.

——Do you think he’s finally been enlightened? Seriously, you’re too pure for this world!

Director Li said excitedly, “This is pretty good!”

He shouted loudly, shifting everyone’s attention to him. Director Li walked towards Ye Chen, then patted him on the shoulder. “Let’s add this scene! Yan Han had his hands full in the research group. Zhan Chen bought fruit tea and passed it to Yan Han. Because Yan Han was focused on the (research) topic, he didn’t notice Zhan Chen. Zhan Chen passed the straw to Yan Han, then drank the tea. The last scene will be when Yan Han finally responds. He raised his head in surprise and saw Zhan Chen standing there while blushing!”

Even though Director Li’s EQ was -100, he had unexpectedly created a scene filled with pink bubbles!

There shouldn’t be any problem for them to act in this scene. The scene perfectly suited the feelings of the two who were still confused and just got to know each other. MgFS1e

But there might be some predicaments too. It lied with Ye Chen. Although Ye Chen had performed pretty well up until now, Director Li was still quite worried. He told Ye Chen, “You should think about some embarrassing or awkward moments. That would make it easier for you to blush.”

In fact, blushing wasn’t something which could be performed easily. Ye Chen had to bring the mood out mentally, only then would his body be able to execute the proper reaction. It was difficult to perform without any practice beforehand.

Director Li told Ye Chen a lot of tips, but he didn’t quite get them that confusion was written all over his face. He became quite nervous and thought: I didn’t understand at all, can I even act properly?

Once Director Li finished speaking, he patted Ye Chen on his shoulder and said, “No need to be nervous, we’ll only take a few more shots. This scene is really great, it’ll leave an impression after you finish the shoot.”

Ye Chen nodded absently. He felt that he could only rely on his instincts to act.

Director Li asked Ren Jing, “Is that alright with you?”

Ren Jing paused for a moment. iOzq8P

Director Li immediately added, “If there’s anything troubling you, let’s discuss it properly.”

Ren Jing cleared his throat and said, “Could we change Ye Chen’s clothes?”

Director Li made an utterly confused face.

Ye Chen hurriedly stated, “It’s alright, I don’t feel hot.” He thought that Ren Jing was afraid that he would feel hot wearing these clothes. naplA4

Ren Jing said again, “It’s a different section, after all. It’s not a good idea to have him wear the same clothes again.”

Director Li really liked Ye Chen’s current appearance. He looked neat and dazzling, which suited his character very much. Hence, he opposed it. “He’s a student, why does he need to change into so many clothes? A simple white shirt is the best for him.”

Ren Jing said patiently, “He’s in college, not senior high school. There’s no need to wear only one pair of clothes…” 41Dhdz

“But Zhan Chen’s family background is very ordinary.”

Movie King Ren persisted, “No matter how ordinary his family is, he won’t wear a single shirt all year round.”

Director Li panicked. “I like him wearing these clothes!”

Ren Jing nearly blurted out, “I also like it.” Nevertheless, he kept it to himself and said instead, “It’s not a bad idea to give him some more clothes to try. It might give a better image.” dAO87q

Director Li thought for a while and felt that it somehow made sense?

Little Ye Chen who listened to them on the side had a face filled with admiration and thought: Shooting a movie isn’t an easy thing to do. They had to seriously discuss a set of costumes for such a long time.

Yang Sen pursed the corner of his lips, then silently cursed: Pervert x2!

Afterwards, Movie King Ren got the upper hand. Ye Chen went to change his clothes. But then again, he was acting as a college student, so his choice of clothes were limited. It was typically a combination of T-shirt and jeans. He had originally looked young, so he looked young no matter what he wore.

This T-shirt had a slightly wider collar in particular. Ren Jing would really like to ask if they could change it into another one, but he was unable to say anything at all. He had no more reason to do so!

Chrysanthemum Garden.

He had no choice but to continue shooting the movie.

For the best result, Director Li intentionally asked Ye Chen to run one round outside to show that he personally went to buy the fruit tea and brought it here. Un iP0

Ye Chen didn’t like to sweat much, but fortunately, the scorching sun was shining brightly outside. Beads of sweats started to pour over his forehead after he ran for a while.

This result was the best. His cheeks were slightly red and he lightly panted as he talked. Coupled with some beads of sweats, he looked fantastic!

Teacher Ren was seriously doing his research. Ye Chen came into the room. Seeing his teacher focused on analyzing the topic, he stepped in lightly and gently approached him. He didn’t need to act at all. Ye Chen started to speak right on cue. Even his tone was spot on when he said, “Teacher?” Qsz25r

Ren Jing was completely absorbed in his research and didn’t hear Ye Chen calling out to him.

Ye Chen gazed at him for a while. His little heart thumped with excitement as he carefully passed the fruit tea to his teacher. Ren Jing took no notice of him at all. When he saw the straw, he tilted his head and bit it…

Ye Chen was completely motionless. Ren Jing noticed something strange and slightly raised his head… Right as he did so, he caught sight of a bead of sweat slipping down from Ye Chen’s delicate collarbone into his clothes.

He was unable to shift his gaze away. Because Ye Chen was bending down, he saw something through the wide collar… U1ygc

“Cut!” Director Li was furious. “Ren Jing, where are you looking at? Eyes! Look at his eyes! Don’t just stare at the little bear’s head on his clothes!”

Ren Jing paused for a moment before he raised his voice and said, “Sorry, I had to use the restroom for a bit.”

Director Li waved his hand. “Hurry up and go.” He didn’t expect to finish it in one take, anyway. The lighting didn’t work too well either, so it needed to be adjusted first. iYd1Tz

Ren Jing turned around and asked Ye Chen, “Are you going?”

Ye Chen didn’t know why, but he turned red in an instant.

Death System’s voice slowly resounded, “Random mission, go to the restroom with Ren Jing. The reward is one life point.” qTMBlv

Ye Chen, “You’re toxic.”

Death System, “Thank you for the compliment.” I don’t get any lines for two chapters already, Laozi had to make some sense of presence!

Ren Jing was still waiting for him. Ye Chen felt too embarrassed to say anything, but he still pushed Ren Jing lightly. Was he implying something?

Ren Jing went into the restroom first and Ye Chen followed him. It was a good thing that Director Li was busy discussing things with the lighting engineer, or else he would have found out that two of his lead actors had vanished from sight if he turned his head around! Nla6Kn

The restroom had already been swept clean before. Right after Ye Chen came in, Ren Jing held his waist and kissed him.

Ye Chen leaned against the wall. He was kissed by Ren Jing until his face was completely flushed.

Ren Jing let him go a little, then softly said, “How about…we stop shooting this movie?”

The Author has something to say: 35Tu0s

Ren Jing: I originally suggested that I shoot this movie to get closer with my wife. Now that he’s already in my arms, how could I even shoot the movie again?

Director Li: Motherfucker, I have something I have to say to you!

T/N:
Alrite I know this won’t make you any less angry but I am terribly sorry for the late release :blobsweats: A lot of things happened yeah… The flu refuses to leave me bruh… Worse, I got wrist pain out of nowhere (I don’t remember spraining my wrist ever) QwQ… Well, at least it’s Fugou Keiji eps. 5 tomorrow,,,, So uhhh yeah, I’ll probably got it checked if it doesn’t get better, probably… Once again I’m really sorry,,,,, :blobsob: 3wETt

Also, before anyone complains in my face, the author note is exactly what the author wrote. I am simply translating what she wrote/said. I honestly don’t have any issues with “wife”, but well, people be people… ╮( ̄_ ̄)╭

Wikipedia: A close-up or closeup in filmmaking, television production, still photography, and the comic strip medium is a type of shot that tightly frames a person or object. Close-ups are one of the standard shots used regularly with medium and long shots. Close-ups display the most detail, but they do not include the broader scene.

Wikipedia: In photography, filmmaking and video production, a wide shot (sometimes referred to as a full shot or long shot) typically shows the entire object or human figure and is usually intended to place it in some relation to its surroundings. A Full Shot (this web talks more about writing tips, but it’s pretty good to add to your knowledge IMO) will show full figures or at least from the waist up (depending on the lens and type of Medium Shot). This shot showcases body language, and includes facial nuances. It conveys the dynamics of relationship through placement of characters in relation to one another and to the space/setting around them.

Amaris-san asked, “Why six?”… Honestly, I’m not sure if author is hinting or making any reference here, but apparently, six (六; pinyin: liù) is considered as a lucky number for Chinese people, because of how it sounds similar to 溜 (pinyin: liū) which means “slick, smooth”. In Cantonese, 6 (Cantonese Yale: lok6) sounds like “good fortune” or “happiness” (祿, 樂 Cantonese Yale: lok6). Therefore six is considered a good number for business.
You could kepo more about this Chinese numerology stuffs by searching “Chinese lucky number (insert number here)” around the web and you’ll see lots of explanations about them! For example, Chinese lucky number 8.

  1. Ren Jing is slowly descending into debauchery 😆

Also, yeah that wife drama with MZDS was a little too much for me, I get that people had good intentions but I hate that they lashed out at EXR, since they work so hard to provide good translations. That kind of stuff is what you spam the author with, not the translators. I mean I think the wife thing is a broader issue among Chinese danmei novelists and how Chinese in general have a much more conservative acceptance of homosexuality

    • Thank you for the chapter.

OMG yes! I was in for an unpleasant surprise when I came back online after a couple of months. I was heartbroken that they weren’t going to continue with the translation but I understood why they decided on that. The readers sometimes find the stupidest reason to spam the hardworking translators. I also hate the wife thing but I understand that the tl has no control over what the author writes. Chinese bl authors almost always allocate feminine role to the ‘receiving’ person as we can see with the wife thing. What can the translator do?!

  2. How is Ren Jing gonna survive acting in front of his Ye Chen, looking like his childhood dream?????? WahahagagHahHah

  3. Ahahahaha XD Ren Jing be strong!! Keep acting for Director Li!! This is so funny!

    Thank you~ ^^

  4. I understand why the readers would be unhappy with the author’s choice of address, but that’s something they need to take up with the author, not the translator. Even if the translator themselves are uncomfortable with it, professionally they have to still keep true to the original text. If translators started fixing everything they didn’t like in the novels they’re translating they might end up with a different work altogether and also create a massive misunderstanding.

Tbh, I’m actually really bothered by the use of ‘wife’ to refer to the shou in BL novels too. It’s more so when the author turns up to be female and heterosexual. It’s as if they simply decided they’re gonna substitute the female part of the relationship with the shou (since both parties are receivers, right?) and didn’t even bother to do any research out of respect for the subject she’s basing her novel on. And that’s really rude. Breaching on homomisic.

Oh I use homo/trans/LGBTQIA+ + ‘misia’ to refer to what people usually call ‘-phobia’. I don’t like the traditional form of address bc these are not fears, they’re hate behaviours (‘misia’ is Greek for ‘against’). By calling these people ‘-phobic’ we’re giving them an excuse – they’re sick. As everyone knows, phobias are mental illnesses where sufferers experience extreme, irrational fear towards a certain action/object. The people who are LGBTQIA+misic are anything but scared. They’re against these people because they dare to destruct their delusions of ‘normal’, bc their religion or any other absurd reason they might come up with.

I personally think calling them phobic is really really bad. Again, bc we’re giving this people an excuse for their behaviour. If someone commits a hate crime, they can always say they’ve done it bc ‘homophobia’ is a mental illness. And the law can’t actually argue against this reason. Bc it’s the standard address towards these people.
