Transmigrated As The Cannon Fodder Abandoned By The Movie StarCh136 - Those Things Gone By

He was, in fact, a living being that existed, even if he was so colossal that he needed to conceal his body within a space-time unimaginable to most living creatures, even if he was more like a precise and accurate machine than a living being, even if the only emotion he’d ever known was calm. If that could even be called an emotion. Many words could be used to describe him. Calm, cool, collected …

Any of those would do. Nothing could ever shake him, and nothing could ever hurt him. 6YN2Jl

However, in that long and endless stretch of time, he began to develop a faint curiosity. Quite frankly, this strange and wonderful feeling was really nothing more than a tiny seed within a vast ocean, but, slowly, something began to change within him, little by little.

This was the beginning of his fall from grace.

Who could believe that a human would bring down a god?

PF4eUQ

Upon waking from his slumber, the first thing he felt was pain, a colossal amount of pain. It was as if violent waves were assaulting him from all sides.

His body seemed to be very large, so much so that the indescribable pain seemed to fade away in comparison.

He opened his eyes and found a cosmos filling up his field of vision. However, soon, his eyes were instinctively drawn to a little blue planet, unable to look away. Upon catching sight of a familiar house, he subconsciously came to the realization that this was the past, this was a scene that had already happened, this was an image locked in time, this was a foregone conclusion.

Sometimes, this would happen. It was because he was too young. In the course of his “slumber”, things like this would happen. He would “see” images from a time gone by.

However, before he had the chance to look away and return to the correct time and space, he found that he’d already transformed into the shape of a human. He found this rather strange. He had once taken the form of a winged dragon, soaring through the air with others of his kind. He had also once taken the form of a whale, raising his body high above the water before crashing back down against the waves. However, he’d never before taken the form of a human. He stood before the door, a rare bout of confusion beginning to creep up on him.

It was at this moment that the door opened, and out walked a young man. His eyes still held a vibrance within them, as well as a little bit of unease.

The young man walked right in front of him. They were very close, so much so that he could smell the shampoo on the other’s body. Nearly instantly, he found himself unable to look away. If it wasn’t for the fact that he knew this was an image of the past, he probably would have walked up to the young man and struck up a conversation. In fact, he actually did end up following the young man, and he began to undergo a visible change. It was as if a statue had come to life, suddenly brimming with vitality. It was really just a moment’s notice.

This was a very rare state for him to be in. The sprawling years had dulled his emotions to what was essentially a flat plateau. h8Y6Wv

He followed the young man to the coffee shop as he ordered his drink, to the plaza as he fed the birds, to the garden as he tended to his roses. He followed right behind the young man, feeling joy and happiness in everything that he did.

He learned the young man’s name — Gu Qingchi. Since then, those nine letters held a different sort of meaning to him.

Someone like him had used time to imprison Gu Qingchi.

Gu Qingchi did his absolute best to keep living. He started talking to himself. He’d have whole conversations, detailing everything that he was going to do that day. He made plans for himself. He ate three meals a day and exercised. However, Gu Qingchi discovered alcohol one day and quickly became an alcoholic. He also started speaking less and less.

Seconds and minutes and hours passed by. He watched with his own two eyes as Gu Qingchi began speaking less and less day after day. Gu Qingchi didn’t go to the coffee shop anymore, and he didn’t go to the plaza either. His entire person withered like the roses in the garden.

Gu Qingchi curled up on the sofa and looked up at the ceiling. His eyes seemed ashen and gray. eEOzbi

He sat on the sofa and tentatively put his hand on Gu Qingchi’s. However, Gu Qingchi’s image fluctuated the moment they touched. He wasn’t able to touch anything. This was normal. The person he was looking at was nothing but an illusion. Still, the moment his hand fell through, an inexplicable sense of loss flooded his chest.

Gu Qingchi didn’t react at all. He just lay there with his eyes closed, an arm thrown across his eyes. It even covered half his face. He wasn’t making any movements, yet, for some reason, he gave off a profound sense of exhaustion. He then stopped moving at all, the only thing still indicating that he was alive being the rise and fall of his chest.

Gu Qingchi was slowly dying. He realized this absolute fact. In his long and endless existence, death had never truly meant anything to him. He’d gone through unimaginable lengths of time, seen countless passings, without a single batting of his eye, without a single ripple in his heart. In his mind, birth was no different from death. It was all a natural process.

However, now, he was truly experiencing the fear that death brings. 6ySL3U

On the sofa, Gu Qingchi shifted. He brought his hand down and turned his head to the side. His gaze slowly began focusing on the sleeping pills on the coffee table.

He watched all of this, and some unknown place in his heart ached.

It shouldn’t be like this.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, an unbearable pain shot up in his core. It came far too suddenly, so much so that his unseeable, untouchable, gargantuan body began to curl up on itself, trembling. eXxMhV

Countless memories began flooding his mind. Compared to the endless stretch of time that he’d experienced, these memories weren’t really anything of note, but each one was unforgettable. It was as if a black and white world was suddenly painted with color.

He lifted his head, tears already streaming down his face. He remembered now. Gu Qingchi’s captor and jailor was none other than him.

Countless fragments squeezed into his body and proceeded to tear him apart from the deepest depths of his soul.

Memories kept gushing forward, unceasingly. ZdUqcu

It was accompanied by an almost unbearable pain. He had experienced Gu Qingchi’s death many times over.

The whistling of the car. The bathroom. The western restaurant. The cat. The pill bottle on the floor. The glaring headline on the newspaper announcing the suicide of a rising star …

The final scene that flooded his senses was one of the most excruciating for him to look back on.

The scene took place in an office. The lighting was very dim. Gu Qingchi sat on a sofa, his head turned to the side. His eyes were bright. On the digital billboard outside the window, there were posters of him and his films. He spoke to his assistant. WAGJz8

“My cat died.”

His assistant gave him a response before continuing to arrange his schedule. Others walked in and out of the office, all of them busy with their own work.

Gu Qingchi then disappeared from right before his eyes.

His memories pieced themselves together to form countless deaths, countless despairs. He turned back time over and over to, searching through those countless possibilities for a single ending, a single hope. NTZRhp

I’ve remembered your countless deaths. I’ve wanted to hold onto your hand every single time.

Xie Luyu awoke with a start. Once he was awake, he subconsciously turned his head to look at Gu Qingchi. Gu Qingchi was right next to him. He turned around and hugged Gu Qingchi.

Xie Luyu wasn’t the most restful of sleepers. He was like an octopus, latching onto anything he could get his hands on. However, Gu Qingchi was not a huge fan of being hugged in his sleep. He couldn’t handle too much heat and he was also ticklish, so Xie Luyu did his best to restrain himself and change this habit of his. Nevertheless, Xie Luyu still liked sleeping right next to Gu Qingchi. He absolutely needed to be able to touch the other while they were sleeping. 4W5iwy

Here in this bed, their breathing melded into one. He could feel the heaving of Gu Qingchi’s chest. He could sense the beating of Gu Qingchi’s heart. It was only then that he was able to calm down.

Xie Luyu subconsciously put a little too much force into his arms. He held the other too tightly, causing the other to wake up. Gu Qingchi blearily opened his eyes.

“Is the sun up?”

Gu Qingchi yawned and closed his eyes again, snuggling deeper into the other’s arms. gqtN2G

“Is it lunchtime already? I still want to sleep a bit longer … ”

It was actually still the early hours of the morning. Xie Luyu propped his chin on the crown of the other’s head. He wanted to open his mouth and say something, but he found himself choked up instead. It was then that he realized that his face was wet.

He coughed, trying to make his voice sound as normal as possible, but it still came out a little hoarse.

“No, it’s still early. Go ahead and sleep.” dt VjI

Gu Qingchi reached a hand out from under the blanket and brushed back the other’s hair, which had grown out a bit. Xie Luyu’s hair had quite a bit of volume. However, the texture was a little stiff, so it wasn’t that soft to the touch. Gu Qingchi was still half-asleep. His voice sounded a little nasally.

“You sleep too.”

Xie Luyu hummed in response. He couldn’t help but tighten his grip once more. Gu Qingchi seemed to have also picked up on his unease, so he simply went with it and burrowed deeper into his arms, as docile as a lamb.

Xie Luyu strangely felt very relieved by that. He rubbed against Gu Qingchi, skin against skin. He then lowered his head and looked at Gu Qingchi, watched how he breathed, watched the rise and fall of his chest. He seemingly couldn’t get enough of it. Once a long time had passed, Xie Luyu finally let out a soft whisper. In fact, the words were so soft that they almost seemed to disappear upon leaving his mouth. oPCMXc

“I’ve finally gotten to hold your hand.”

Gu Qingchi’s entire person was buried in his arms. He hummed in response.

Xie Luyu was a little surprised. He thought that Gu Qingchi was asleep. He then relaxed his brows and lowered his head, kissing Gu Qingchi. In doing so, the two of them exchanged breaths, confirming one another’s existence to each other.

  1. This explains a lot… I wonder if the accumulation of those deaths across multiple lives contributed to the depression and suicidal thoughts?

  2. I feel lyk there should be a tragedy tag (but I guess that would be misleading). So in other time lines, Chichi kept dying and dying? 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I would’ve liked it better if there were hints of XLY being god. But then again it’s just an extra.

Tysm for the translation! It feels different readjng it from mtl. 😄

    • +1

I thought that this novel is like the usual face slapping transmigrated entertainment novel, but it actually have so many angst instead 😭😭

(But I still finished it tho since it’s quite good)

  3. I can’t help but feel sad for both of them. Glad they finally reach their own happy ending now but poor xie luyu always have to experience chichi’s death before he could finally keep him alive 😭

  4. Ok, that’s the biggest plot twist of this novel and I’m still in shock w(°o°)w
