Voice Of Another ChanceChapter 66

“DO YOU DARE SAY THIS WHEN MY SON IS IN THE HOSPITAL? THE DOCTORS SAID HE HAS A FEW BROKEN RIBS AND A BROKEN ARM. YOU CALL THIS A LITTLE THING?”

The voice continued to shout over the phone, provoking Shibata to show a grimace. He slowly moved the phone away from his ear, waiting until the person on the other end finally calmed down.  7uOwyq

Only when he couldn’t hear the shouts anymore did Shibata finally placed the phone back to his ear.

“Only that?” Shibata burst into a blood-chilling laughter. “If that stupid son of yours still has all his limbs attached consider yourself lucky.”

The other man didn’t say anything.

The silence stretched for a few more seconds before Shibata eventually continued. His voice was now icy cold, his tone layered with a menacing tint. m3 tR8

“Omura-san, it’s the second time your family messes with the Ikemotos. First, it was your brother causing a hassle. Now, it’s your own son who came looking for trouble. Do you really think the Ikemoto family will simply sit by and watch you bastards do as you please? Perhaps you don’t take me seriously because more than half of my business is clean compared to yours.”

Shibata laughed again, the sound so blood-curdling that it sent shivers down Omura’s spine.

“You better pray the boy wakes up, otherwise things won’t look good for you. Ryuu may be a dragon soaring in the skies, but I’m still a snake slithering through the mud. Don’t think I can’t touch you just because he can’t. Nothing is stopping me from exposing all your dirty deeds and dragging you through hell with me.”

“Y-You wouldn’t dare.” The man on the other side of the phone stuttered slightly.

“Oh, wouldn’t I? Then want to make a gamble? If your son so much as even gazes in the direction of my family, he will lose more than just a few teeth. I’m willing to go as far as I can take this. Whether you die, or I die… We’ll let fate decide. Either way, I guarantee you one thing: I won’t allow you to succeed in your plans.”

After a short pause, the other man’s voice travelled through the phone, serios and slightly startled.

“You’re nothing like your brother.”

“Mh. You can bet your ass I’m not.” Shibata replied coldly. “He was a softie and a dumbass, who believed yours and your brother’s words all those years ago. I’m not him and I am not afraid of attacking when provoked. If that doesn’t work, I have no qualms in taking you all down with me. Fuck it, I’m even willing to throw a farewell party if it means ridding this town of your disgusting remnants.”  rhvMP6

With that, Shibata hung up the phone and threw it on the sofa next to him.

“Fucking bastards! Do they take me as a joke?!” he mumbled a few curses under his breath.

This conversation was taking place the same night Asakura and the others escaped from the warehouse.

The moment Asakura saw that Sato had lost consciousness, his reason completely shattered. He tried to reach Director Omura and beat him to death. kvKlAq

In return, Director Omura pointed the gun at him, but he was so startled by Asakura’s speed and savage appearance that his hand shook violently.

Consequently, the shot missed and Asakura managed to reach his target in a few strides.

Just as he was about to land his first hit, the door suddenly burst open and a large group of men entered the warehouse.

Shibata’s underlings quickly rounded up Director Omura’s henchmen, striking down anyone who didn’t listen. Some came carrying wooden clubs, while others used their fists empowered with metallic knuckles.  J8WRVS

What happened afterwards was best described as a one sided carnage.

While his uncle’s men helped with clearing the surroundings, Asakura beat Director Omura to a pulp. He didn’t stop until the man’s face was so swollen and purple that not even his own parents would be able to recognize him.

During the fight, Asakura threw the man to the ground, viciously pummeling his body with his feet.

Once Director Omura was completely subdued and unable to move a muscle, Asakura stopped for a moment. His body loomed over the other man like a huge, menacing shadow.  iuGcsy

A second later, a loud crack of broken bones came from Director Omura’s arm.  hDZwK6

The man let out a shrill yell of pain.

During this time, Asakura looked on emotionlessly as the man writhed in pain at his feet. After a moment, he let go of the arm as though it was a dirty rag.

The broken limb fell limply at Director Omura’s side in an unnatural angle, making the man seem like a broken puppet, discarded on the floor by its willful owner.

But merely doing this wasn’t enough to satiate Asakura’s thirst for revenge.  dvX2qY

He wanted more. The man who hurt Sato had to suffer even more than this.

And Asakura would have certainly gotten his way, if it were not for two pairs of arms catching hold of him and pulling him away from Director Omura.

In the end, it was Muro and Shun who stopped their Big Brother from going too far.

With his movements suddenly restricted, Asakura finally snapped out of his madness. He went back to where he left Sato lying on the ground. Once there, he gingerly picked up his lover and brought him outside.  T0GPJN

Since neither him, nor his two followers were in a state to drive, Asakura had one of his uncle’s men take them back to the city.

All the way to the hospital, Asakura kept hugging Sato’s body, caressing his face and kissing his lips. The young man’s skin felt cold to the touch, so cold that Asakura felt as though a freezing chill was seeping through his heart every time he touched Sato.

In those moments, he could only close his eyes and plead in a low, pitiful voice.

“Please be alright. Sato, please wake up. Come back to me… please.” UwWncs

But to Asakura’s despair, Sato remained unconscious. His lips were now bloodless and his breathing was growing shallow.

The pain of losing someone dear was something Asakura had never experienced to this extent. It felt as though bits of his flesh were being ripped apart. It was like thousands of sharp blades were slashing at his skin, slowly and painfully exposing the raw muscles underneath.

He spent the entire night in the hospital, pacing in front of the operating room. The hours passed agonisingly slow. Every second in which Sato was inside felt like torture.

In this haze, Asakura didn’t even realize when Muro and Shun had left him alone, nor when his uncle came to see him.  kJhl6W

After a while, Asakura finally lost all strength. He slumped down next to the door of the operating room with his back pressed against the wall. He brought his legs up, keeping his head hung low over his knees.

As he saw his nephew crumbling on the floor, Shibata suddenly felt conflicted inside his heart.

As a family, they had never been close. But even so, Shibata couldn’t help but feel an unexpected pang of pain at the sight of Asakura’s grieving.

Proving that Ikemoto Shibata was still a human being despite his rather vicious character and foul mouth, the man moved closer to his nephew. Slowly placing a hand on the younger man’s shoulder, Shibata spoke in what he meant to be a reassuring tone. GQLvUq

“My boy, you should stay strong. Losing your spirit right now won’t help him. He needs you to be tough and wait for him to come back.”

“Is this you trying to comfort me?” Asakura’s voice came out muffled.

“Is it working?” Shibata asked rather awkwardly.

“No.” Asakura’s reply came without hesitation. ZGre0Q

Hearing that, Shibata took back his hand and snorted.

“Who’s trying to console a shitty brat like you, ha?”

Unexpectedly, his uncle’s cussing made Asakura want to laugh. It wasn’t the first time Shibata had called him names, but it was the first time when the man’s words sounded like that.

Somehow it was different from before. 1hzDdQ

Asakura raised his head and stared into Shibata’s eyes.

‘Playing the role of a concerned father now… It doesn’t suit you one bit, you sly old man.’ Asakura thought to himself.

After a few moments, Asakura opened his mouth, letting out two words he never would have expected to tell his uncle.

“Thank you.”  xnRdzZ

The bullet had hit Sato’s left shoulder. Luckily, nothing vital was touched and Sato managed to escape with only a simple wound. Nevertheless, the doctors said that, if the bullet had been a few centimeters down, then things could have been more dangerous.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Every time he thought of this, Asakura felt his entire body shivering. The very idea of losing Sato was enough to cause his soul to fall into despair.

But it appeared that fate was on their side. Z1wMfH

Two days later, Sato finally woke up.

When that happened Asakura was outside taking a call. After finishing his business, Asakura hurried back to Sato’s room.

As soon as he reached the door and took one look inside, Asakura froze on the spot. Surprise and relief flashed across his face.

Inside the room, Sato was leaning against the pillow, gazing outside the window in a daze. One arm was bandaged and immobilized in a sling.  AGQzuM

From outside the door Asakura could only see his profile, but it was enough to cause his heart to skip a beat.

He hadn’t told anyone that what he had feared the most during this time was that Sato might not wake up again, that he might stay in a deep slumber and never return to him.

Whenever he closed his eyes, Asakura was haunted by the frightening image of Masato Keita being in a coma for an entire year because of him. This made him sink into a complicated mess of emotions.

Thus, for the past two days, Asakura couldn’t bring himself to sleep. He stood by Sato’s side, watching over his lover carefully, as though his care and attention might somehow help Sato to wake up sooner. gqWijo

Now, staring at his lover through the glass door, the knot inside Asakura’s heart slowly began to loosen.

He slid the door open and took one step inside.

“Sato.” Asakura called out in a low voice.

Sato was startled out of his thoughts. Turning his head slowly, his eyes landed on Asakura. bSKZv6

“Ryuu.” Sato called the man’s name softly, his lips curving into a tender smile.

That was enough to pull Asakura from a torturous abyss and throw him into blissful happiness.

Just having his name spoken by those lips, Asakura felt the shackles of his past trauma cracking as they broke, leaving him lighthearted and happy. His heart soared like a bird reaching for the sky.

There was no sadness, no pain, only love. Undeniable, unconditional and ardent love. 21ndWQ

In a few strides Asakura closed the distance between them.

His heart was about to burst with emotion, but he still tried hard to maintain his self-control.

Careful not to touch Sato’s wound, Asakura leaned down and gathered his lover into a tender embrace.

“Thank you for coming back to me.” Y1zN5h

“Mn, there is no way I would leave my dragon alone.” Sato rubbed his face against Asakura’s chest.

“I love you.” Asakura whispered softly.

His warm breath grazed Sato’s ear, causing the young man to shudder. He reached out and wrapped his free arm around Asakura’s waist, giving the other man a light squeeze.

“I love you too, Ryuu.” ZrbKOJ

A/N: And with this the main story ends :blobaww:  0G5igZ

There will be three extras after this, coming a bit later today.  One of them was so long that I had to split it into two chapters :blobpats:

Now that I am here, I feel both nervous and excited. So much that I can hardly know what to write 😂But I will say this though, thank you all of you who have given this story a chance and read until the very end. If you have enjoyed it, even if just a little bit, I will be very happy. :blobsmilehappyeyes:

This story may not be extraordinary, but I felt happy while writing it. I also enjoyed coming up with the plot and characters. There are placed where I feel I could have done better, but even so, I hope you enjoyed it! 😊Also, I am sorry for the lack of smut. I promise to do better next time. If I manage to write proper smut scenes, I will come back to the story and add them here :blobcheeky:

With that, thanks again and see you in the extras! Looking forward to your feedback! 💕 5ySPug

P.S.: Down bellow is a fanfic picture my niece made for this story 😍
