    • I think almost every mother who lost her baby will go crazy like that. and the jealousy oiling it, and since the beginning she is growing up in political family, maybe naturally blaming became part of her. I just hope she didn’t attempt suicide, or doing a mistake that cost another life

      • I probably going to agree with you if only she didn’t humiliate Jun Qing many times before. She is just petty person that thought she knows the best. Before Xiao Si (the dead baby) even born, she had argue with Jing Chen over his relationship with Jing Shao and look down on Jun Qing as male wife. I will say it blunty, she killed her own baby by her own actions and the bad karma she accumulated. There is already medicine by Imperial Physicians. Then, she still feed the weak baby unknown medicine from the nuns, and smoked the baby with prayer incense. Who knows if there is still nonsensical instructions like aired at bla bla time, bath with bla bla water/salt etc. Now, the baby died and she didn’t mourn or reflects, but throwing blames. Even the words of blame is “calculated by great sage”, she didn’t assumes responsibility or guilt in any of her wordings towards said dear baby’s death. Even Jing Chen showed better grieving than her. Now she is under house arrest. Why? Because she keep looking for a fight with Jing Chen, and who knows if she will run the street to Cheng Wang residence. Attempt suicide? Very unlikely. She is still dreaming to be Empress. Probably also Dowager Empress. That is why she wanted her back up second son in the case first son had accident and can’t get the throne in the future. Taking another life, highly likely. Wanting to stabilise her sole son’s position against 2 other shu sons. Hopefully not though and she snaps back to reality soon.

          But the thing that makes me want to wring her neck is how irresponsible she was when she allowed that nun to say nonsense things. Seriously, what nun in her right mind would throw blame at another baby??? Plus the nun was not a doctor, but this mother fed her child unregulated medicine.

First she spends thousands on insense, very questionable panacea and now she’s believing superstitions and words from questionable diviners. Who is telling her these things? Also, who’s gonna wake her up and tell her she killed her own son with all the expnsive questionable things she bought?

    I wouldn’t call her a bitch just yet tho. Grieving mothers suffer from so much depression, and shes showing all the symptoms in the wrong way. I sincerely hope someone takes care of her till she’s better. This is just very real, and I hope she gets her reasoning back.

    • I really think someone (probably the empress) send the great sage to negatively influence rui wang fei’s opinion about jing shou – in order to weaken the relationship between jing shou and jing chen. Because in previous life, rui wang fei still have bad impression towards jing shou, and the brothers relationship got worse after the baby died.

  15. I can understand where she’s coming from… and in reality its true, mothers can be irrational when it comes to their sick child. But I can’t help suspecting that perhaps someone may have used her to target Jing Chen. If a wedge was set between him and Jing Shao, then it could put him at a disadvantage in gaining the throne. If internal turmoil and bad rumors about his household reaches the public and the court, it would put Jing Chen in a bad light.

  21. I feel bad and sympathize with her. I think someone did target her and her child to cause a problem between Jing Chen and Jing Shao.   24. Was this chapter kind of short or did I just read too fast? Either way, I have a feeling she’s had her run in the show and will be exiting stage left soon. I want to know who’s pulling the strings behind her child’s death! I’m not very good at picking up on clues so someone please tell me if it’s been hinted at already. Obviously I suspect the fourth prince, but maybe that’s too obvious?

    Second, people might have had a tendency to be more superstitious in this time period. IQ, intuition, and circumstance leads this Rui Wang Fei to believe things and trust people she shouldn’t. She is not qualified to navigate the complex position of Empress. Also, keep in mind that our own JS was a victim of bad intuition before his rebirth.

    Third, she was easy/easier to prey upon once she gave birth to a sickly baby. She was tired from lack of sleep and endless worry for his health, as well as some form of postpartum depression. The loss of a child is a type of hell. If Jing Chen was to abandon her at this time she might very well go insane. While I want her to exist the stage, I don’t want Jing Chen to be that cruel.
