      • I Agree, either 1st prince or Empress Dowager. In a blind twist of fate it could be the Emperor but that’s a slim chance.

        But part of the resentment of Wang Fei is because 2nd prince planned to give baby to Jing Shao and Jing Chen. So someone in court probably planted the idea in 2nd Prince.

    • Definitely Empress. To ruin the brotherhood of her hated late Empress that emphasized on it for all brothers. So if she can make the two full blooded brothers fall apart, won’t she be able to sneer at the “pretentious” late Empress. If Rui Wangfu can fall from inside, she also will rejoice on behalf of her son. Because Empress definitely know the threat to the throne is Jing Chen, while the threat to stability after the throne (army) is Jing Shao. If it is not Empress then it is probably the family behind Empress.

  4. I wonder if this Mo Bei really committed suicide or if she was murdered. If the people behind her can stoop so low as to use a sick baby (and disharmony b/w husband and wife) to stir up trouble, they won’t think twice before killing an accomplice who’s no longer useful.

  7. Hnmm, JS remembers a different baby dying before. I wonder if his return triggered a chain of events leading to or disrupting a baby swap of some sort?

    • Definitely not. A male child to the royal line is always going to be valued. Patriarchy….. However, it says nothing about the one who has little to no blood relation. If I am not wrong, the empress dowager and the current empress have no blood relation to JS’s line. The emperor’s mother did not make it so someone from the previous harem was chosen as empress dowager. The current empress was of a lower status compared to the first empress ( the one who gave birth to JS) and not to mention, she always wants to undermine JC and JS.

That really does seem like there’s more to it than just driving the brothers apart… I’m glad Mu Hanzhang is there to make sure they stay together this time! Even if Jing Shao wants to, he doesn’t always know how, so it’s good his wangfei can do it for him. Meanwhile the Huainan King reminds the fourth prince that “flat terrain” is flat on both sides haha

Reading the last line about huainan army attacking before jing yu army finish settling their camp immediately reminds me of the scene from film 300: rise of an empire. The army setting up their camp was tired due to the long journey, and got completely defeated and had to immediately retreat😀

  23. It’s probably the fourth prince or the empress’ people who killed the baby. The empress tried to severe the brotherhood between Jing Shao and Jing Chen by making JS marry MHZ before. it didn’t work, so now she’s even more pissed bc instead of being angry at his brother JS chose to support JC.

    JC is a bit hot-headed and tends to plan and take care of everything alone, so I’m glad MHZ is here to advise him.

  26. I wonder if Rui Wang Fei loyalty is now still on Jing Chen or not hmm. I wonder if Jing Chen had idea of who is the mastermind already, because when he rubbed Jing Shao’s head seeing Jing Shao so clueless; it seems to suggest something. Meanwhile, hehehe awaiting Jing Yu to be played by Gu Huaiqing lol.
