   • What Jing Shao said is the truth. Jun Qing suffered worst. When he nearly drown to death, losing his martial arts ability and worst of all sent to be a male wife. Never had Jun Qing entertain the aspect of suicide or depression/ self degradation. Mu LingBao himself sowing bad deeds everywhere he goes, and went it is time to reap it, he went crazy over hateful and anger? Hmph. He doesn’t deserve pity, especially not from Jun Qing.

3. I would not say that Mu Lingbao is crazy (even though the doctor says this because he wants to please Jing Shao)… He reacts quite normally, according to his character. I mean, when you are a child, you are much more resilient to overcome difficulties when becoming crippled that when you grow up, even though adults succeed too. For Mu Lingbao, not being able to live his normal leisurely life in brothels, to become a subject of mockery and to be unable to leave heirs to become North Marquis, it is a huge slap on his face. And he is not totally wrong: he was pushed in the water because of Mu Hanzhang, but it was only Jing Shao’s will to do it ^^.

   At least, Consort Qiu and the baby are fine, and the North Marquis is still taking care of her. Mu Lingbao cannot hurt the baby anymore, the North Marchionness cannot approach her either, so…everything is fine! However, let’s hope that Jun Qing will not resent Jing Shao for stirring trouble inside his family because of Mu Lingbao’s accident (I think he won’t, but we never know).

Mu Lingbao already has children and more importantly an heir, so in terms of “emasculation” what Jing Shao made him lose is far less than what Mu Hanzhang lost in the original timeline—his ability to fight, to protect his mother or himself, the close care of his father, later even his chance to make a name for himself and support the country/have a positive impact on others’ lives, to have a happy marriage or even any meaningful relationships with anyone, have children at all, Jing Shao knows very well what Mu Hanzhang lost, so it makes complete sense that he has no pity for what Mu Lingbao has lost now. The North Marchioness raised a son with terrible qualifications before and after the “accident”, he’s never had any resilience or equanimity. They didn’t have many options for people suffering from hysteria back then, but calming tonics and working it through with a sympathetic ear would, in fact, be the best treatment they could give him. Given his mother failed to give him any positive traits while raising him, though, I doubt she’ll do any better at helping him now. Provided, of course, that the “calming” things are actually calming and not just…making him incapable of doing anything. But if he’s out and trying to murder people the same way he did as a child, making him unable to continue doing so is also probably…just about the best they can do. Really, very much a case of only having his own actions and personality to blame

   Anyway, I’m very glad Mu Hanzhang’s mother and sibling are well! And Mu Hanzhang throwing off Jing Shao’s silly attempts to coddle him made me laugh, I do so love him

   • Agreed. I think the North Marchioness needs to smarten up if she wants to survive the political world. Or at the very least her husband needs to think ahead and keep her under control. (I think ML is not the brains in this, he is simply just momma’s boy). They already barely won the political game by securing a Marquis title to Mu Hanzheng and keeping their title within the family. ML is still “heir” but if his “Nightmare disease” spreads out into the court, the Emperor may not be so happy having a “lunatic” be the future family rep. Other political factions (other princes) will not hesitate to jump on this as the North Marquis has steadily indicated which side/ Prince he supports.

     Otherwise the North Marquis could simply say that the crazy gene is present in the family of the wife (back then misogynistic thoughts were rampant, any genetic problems is the wife’s fault) so he may simply elevate MH’s wife as the Main wife and the unborn child as heir (if its a boy).

     • I can definitely see that, if news of Mu Lingbao’s condition spreads to the court the North Marquis will practically have no choice but to elevate Mu Hanzhang’s mother and name Mu Hanzhang’s new brother (presuming a male) the heir. If it’s a girl instead, they might even go so far as to have the grandson raised by Mu Hanzhang’s mother, although it wouldn’t fix a genetic component. They’d probably want to blame it on the North Marchioness’s bad parenting instead… As you say, back then everything was always the wife’s fault

And Consort Diu your son is a freaking grown up and a spoiled brat, why babying him anymore. 17. JS and MHZ are so cute. The former keeps pampering his wife, treating him like a fragile child who needs constant protection and care. The latter thinks that his husband acts like a child most of them time and that he himself doesn’t need to be pampered. Well, not too much. Haha. I like the dynamic of their relationship.
