Heart’s alarm blared loudly and he pulled himself from his bed like a drowned cat stretching every limb as he walked.

He started getting ready, his limbs were heavy and his head felt stiff as if he couldn’t spell his own name right now, let alone retain what he had memorized last night. He groaned as he blinked sleepily at Min’s pantsuit and jacket. He rubbed the sleep away, then sighed and resigned himself to his fate. While mumbling the speech he had beaten into his skull until three in the morning the night before.

When he went into the kitchen, there was a simple breakfast of omelet and rice waiting under a dome for him. He sighed and sat to eat. It was still warm, so Min must have just left, and he couldn’t help, but wonder how he had gotten to the point in his life that the only person he had left, he barely saw for an hour every day. He pushed that thought to the back of his mind and worked while he was eating.

“Shiiittt!” He exclaimed as egg and chili rice fell directly on his white shirt. He ran to the bathroom and tried to wipe off the grease as fast as he could.

Heart sighed. He really only had one option left.

Heart stumbled through the front doors of TLR Industries gasping for breath. He had been late because of having to change. Which had made him miss the only bus that would have brought him right to the front of TLR’s buildings. Instead, he had to catch the other one which stopped much… Much further away, and at almost ten minutes later.

He had really had no other choice. In the blistering heat of the unforgiving morning sun, he had run for it, all the way there.

Ran so fast and hard he ran all the way into the building, stopping only to show his visitors pass to the guard so he could be buzzed through the gates inside. The guard had given him an amused smile before letting him up, and he had thanked him as he ran. He knew the elevators would be packed, so he had avoided them and ran straight for the stairs, keeping the same quick pace up the stairs to the third floor.

As he barged through the door slightly out of breath, the other people waiting for interviews coughed and looked away politely. Some hid sneers and others hid small smiles. He headed towards one of the few empty spots in the room and sat down. Doing his best to smooth and adjust himself back to normalcy. fLvKdY

He sat there calmly, hands folded on his lap, but in his head; he was panicking slightly. He was fully aware of how bad he must look, all sweaty, and with his hair disheveled from the run. His suit had ridden up in places he had known they would and shouldn’t have, and he wanted to adjust it so he wasn’t so embarrassingly uncomfortable. Just as he knew to do so in here was the worst idea under the sun.

No way in hell did he want to attract any attention to his suit!

Chrysanthemum Garden.

He checked the time and fidgeted. The interviewers seemed to take their time and during the wait, Heart realized he hadn’t relieved himself since he woke.

“Do you think they will call us soon?” He asked the girl next to him. She wore the number one hundred and forty-eight. Her number was four before his own number he had gotten when he had applied. He smiled sweetly at her, despite how much she reeked of expensive perfume, the smile in her eyes was kind, and nervous, a reflection of his own. He felt at ease with her immediately and knowing they would be in the last batch together made him feel calmer. vzGmE0

She smiled. “I think you have a little bit of time. I would go fast.” Like she read his mind, she pointed to the far hall outside the glass doors. “Down there third door on your left.”

He bowed his head a little and said his thanks. She let out a little bemused giggle, and he stood up and walked as gracefully as he could towards the area she had gestured to.
