The morning markets at the road intersection became lively in the early hours, and vegetable stands were overcrowded on both sides. The loud hawking seeped through the cracks between the screens that were not tightly closed, making the people sleeping inside scowl.

Who is talking? SM2u d

Marquis Yin gradually opened his eyes while pondering and noticed a green muslin drape hovering above his head. He sneered. In his heart, he wondered if he must have finally arrived at the location of the old Yama. Then his scowl became even more pronounced. He noticed that his entire body was sore, as if he’d been run over. He mused whether this is how someone would feel after dying.

He was going to sit up when he felt something pressing him down. When he moved his head, he discovered that part of his torso was being restrained, and the instigator was still peacefully sleeping, snoring. Marquis Yin became exceedingly angry, how could the underworld still allow two dead individuals to lie next to each other? Is it possible that the underworld had become so impoverished? ”

Marquis Yin, feeling helpless, grasped the man’s hand, intending to lift him up. He no longer wanted to be this person’s flesh bed. But he instantly froze once he shook his hand. Is this not the jade pendant he put on Tianzun’s hand? What is it doing in this person’s palm? This person couldn’t be…Marquis Yin yanked the man’s body up, coming face – to – face to an appearance like that of Tianzun’s! But after a while of staring, Marquis Yin realized that something was amiss. This face was too immature, more like Tian Wei, when he was still a teenager.  Even the hand he was grasping was much more dainty, and the calluses on the tiger’s mouth were not as deep as before.

Marquis Yin was under a lot of strain, so he shook the sleeping person and said, “Ah Wei, Ah Wei, wake up.” Tian Wei, who’d been awakened from his dream, waved his hand furiously, as if he wished to shoo away Marquis Yin who was bothering him. Marquis Yin felt helpless. This man’s sleeping gluttony still hadn’t changed. But what actually is going on here?  Marquis Yin had a blank expression on his face, as though he could not really believe the breath he felt beneath him.

He instantly touched himself and discovered that he, too, was breathing, and that his face and body were warm. Could this be that they’re still alive? Marquis Yin started to wonder. Marquis Yin quickly regained his spirits and fiercely shook the sleeping figure. Tian Wei couldn’t handle it any longer and moved his eyelashes before slowly opening his eyes. When he finally awoke, Marquis Yin was surprised, yet he was even more perplexed. This was really Ah Wei, and his pupils were black, as they had been when he was younger.

When Marquis Yin was still pondering about the peculiar situation, Tian Wei had already woken up a little. When he saw the person across from him, he was immediately astonished, “Ah! You damn old ghost. I’m dead, why are you still following me!” He hastily clambered off the bed, but was seized by Marquis Yin who’s behind him, “What did you call me, Ah Wei?! You still remembered!” When Marquis Yin heard Tian Wei address him in this manner, he knew it was his foolish Tianzun and not Ah Wei, who had no recollection of their previous life. Marquis Yin fiercely seized Tian Wei into his arms and buried his face deep in the hollow of Tian Wei’s neck, feeling unbearable in his heart and overjoyed.

Tian Wei was caught off guard by his gestures, and Marquis Yin was still dazedly holding him in his arms. Tian Wei’s cheeks reddened after a while, and he shoved the person away, “Go away. Who permitted you to call me that! What is going on here? Aren’t I already dead?

Marquis Yin put away his teasing thoughts and said solemnly, “I don’t know the specifics, but definitely our bodies have become younger. I also found that my aptitude was less than 10% of what it was originally when I checked my body for Qi” vBEDlC

After hearing this, Tian Wei examined Marquis Yin closely and discovered that he was certainly much more youthful at this moment, and the edges and corners were all like that time when he was a teenager. He couldn’t help but be taken aback, “Ah Zhe…” Marquis Yin laughed, “Yes, it’s me.” Both silently studied one other for a long time, as if they have not seen each other in a hundred years.

A knock on the door disrupted the stillness in the room. Tian Wei blinked and retreated to the bed’s corner, his eyes beckoning Marquis Yin to answer the door. Marquis Yin shrugged, stood up, fixed his clothes, and walked to the door. When the door opened, a waiter stood there, smiling and said, “Brother Yin, I have brought you hot water, would lunch be served to the room today?”

Marquis Yin took the hot water and replied as if he had just woken up, “Pardon me little brother, I got up just now. Then I’ll be troubling you to bring it here.”

The waiter who had a knowing look, joked at Marquis Yin, “Hey, it’s normal for the couple to be together. After drinking too much last night, you would definitely oversleep. We especially prepared light dishes for you at noon which you’ll be satisfied with!” The corner of Marquis Yin’s mouth twitched when he heard the word couple and looked at the waiter who kept on winking. A thump sounded within the room, like something just hit the bedpost, before the waiter could even ask any questions. When Marquis Yin peered inside, he noticed a lump under the quilt. Marquis Yin touched his nose and smiled at the waiter, “My family is thin-skinned. You should understand. Just served the food downstairs, and we’ll eat it later.” The waiter agreed and went downstairs to welcome other guests. L8SrUh

Marquis Yin shut the door and watched the wriggling quilt. This man was already around 200 years old, but still behaved like this. He simply dismissed him and decided to wash up, pouring hot water into the wooden basin. The person inside the quilt noticed that there had been no movement for a long time and poke his head out. When he looked up, he saw Marquis Yin straining himself not to  laugh. Tian Wei’s face instantly contorted, “Who is your family? Don’t listen to the wind is rain. You’re taking advantage of me!”

(t/n Listening to the wind is rain, Chinese idiom, which describes hearing a little bit of wind and trying to echo it.  It can also be used as a metaphor for those who bluff as soon as they hear something, have no personal opinion, and follow what others say. Used in a derogatory sense.)

Marquis Yin, seeing that he was red, reached out his hand to dig him out of the quilt while adding, “Yes, yes. I won’t anymore take advantage of your cheap old self. Now get up and wash your face. We have to assess the situation at the same time, eat our meal.”

Tian Wei smacked Marquis Yin’s hand away, returned his gaze, and twisted his bottom to get out of bed. Tian Wei took a good look at himself whilst cleansing his face and discovered that, as Marquis Yin had said, he had returned to his young appearance, with his hair and eyes still black. Tian Wei silently heaved a huge sigh in his heart. He still didn’t have a bit of martial arts in him. He believed that at this level, it would be too late to learn internal and external energy. It’s not so horrible to be ordinary. It might even be comfortable. Tian Wei was in a great mood after some self-comfort and proceeded to wash up seriously. 4XVPdS

The two exited the room and went downstairs after changing their clothes. When they arrived, a waiter escorted them to a table that had already been set with a few delicious home-cooked delicacies. Tian Wei sent the waiter off after two were seated. “Why did you send him away immediately? Aren’t we going to ask about the current situation?” Marquis Yin inquired, holding up his chopsticks and serving Tian Wei a few dishes.

Tian Wei looked at Marquis Yin with contempt and replied, “Didn’t you realize he knew us? Do you want to let them know that something was wrong with us? You’ve really lived your life in vain for so many years!” Upon saying that, he tossed food into his mouth, one mouthful after the other, while glancing at Marquis Yin’s stupefied appearance. He was instantly in a good mood. Marquis Yin saw him dine with relish and secretly shook his head. He feared that he (TW) was still upset at what the waiter had said earlier. Yet  Marquis Yin did not expose him. He lowered his head to eat and asked for more meals for Tian Wei. The pair finished their first supper of rebirth with great satisfaction.

They left the tavern and went for a walk down the street. The street resembled that of the Song Dynasty’s. Because pedestrians’ clothing and language aren’t much different than before, the two of them felt at ease and began to stroll. Marquis Yin came to a halt in front of a few children playing, took out a dried fruit he had taken from the tavern, waved it in front of them, and asked, “Kids, do you want to eat fruit?” Numerous children gazed at the crimson pulp and nodded one after the other.

“Then I’ll ask you a few questions, and whomever answers shall be given the fruit.” Seeing they couldn’t stop nodding, Marquis Yin asked discreetly, “Who can tell me what dynasty it is now?” q1gab0

A pudgy kid promptly answered, “It’s the Yuan Dynasty now, and it will be the 15th year of Shuntong.”

Marquis Yin and Tian Wei exchanged glances. They’d not known of such a dynasty before! Tian Wei handed the small kid a fruit and said, “Do you know where this area is?” A pouting boy who resembled a scrawny monkey replied, “Of course I know, this is Fufeng Town.”

Tian Wei paused for a moment before asking, “Do you know if there is a family surnamed Yin in this town?” The little skinny monkey replied without hesitation, “There is only one family surnamed Yin in our town, and it is located on the northern side. Just go north and you’ll see a huge house. The family is very rich!” Tian Wei nodded, and Marquis Yin divided up all the food in his hand to them, and children dispersed as soon as they got the fruit.

They weren’t in a hurry because they knew where they were heading, so they strolled leisurely. Marquis Yin followed Tian Wei as he watched him look around. Perhaps it’s because his body had restored to its youth that whatever he saw felt new to him. They hadn’t walked that far but he noticed Tian Wei’s  eyes lit up. He didn’t know what he had seen. Tian Wei  grabbed Marquis Yin and rushed over. Marquis Yin  gazed in that direction and exclaimed angrily. How did this person discover a calligraphy and painting shop? Ih4vlo

While being dragged along, Marquis Yin consoled himself. Wang Xizhi’s works should not be found here. After some thought, what if it was put on display? His face became bitter almost immediately.  Tian Wei didn’t have the chance to observe the guy behind him change his expression as he hurried to the shop, speculating whether the residents in this place were better at painting than the people from  the previous Song Dynasty.

(t/n Wang Xizhi-was a Chinese calligrapher, politician, general and writer during the Qin dynasty . He was best known for his mastery of Chinese calligraphy, also known as “Sage of Calligraphy”)

When the two entered the store, a middle-aged man dressed as the boss greeted them, “Do you two need anything?” Tian Wei respectfully said, “Let us take a look first.” The boss responded warmly and gave way. The two proceeded inside and the boss moved back behind the counter to begin  settling some accounts.

Tian Wei examined the ink paintings on the wall carefully and concluded that the quality was equivalent with that of the Song Dynasty’s. The Song Dynasty paintings have more flowers and birds, whereas the Yuan Dynasty paintings have more figures. Tian Wei looked at it for a while, and inadvertently glanced at the seal on the wooden frame, his eyes lit up again. The boss took it down and presented it to Tian Wei. Marquis Yin, who was near them, came to look and nodded his head in approval. aEYJ7s

This seal was constructed of hardwood, sculpted into a shape of a white bud, and the bottom was even more unique. It was carved with a few green lotus leaves, with a few little strips of swimming fishes in between . This blue and white appear to be intertwined together, and there was no breach of harmony. The two-inch length was entirely etched, indicating that the person who sculpted this one was highly skilled.

The boss added from the side, “The visitors are very discerning. This white lotus seal is the only one crafted by the Luojia Mountain people and it was just put on the shelf this morning. If you had arrived late, you wouldn’t be able to see it!”

Tian Wei doesn’t care who the Luojia Mountain people are, however he likes it so much that he turns his head to gaze at Marquis Yin, indicating that he wants to buy it and he should pay the bill as soon as possible. Marquis Yin was already prepared. When he opened the door, he looked in his purse and discovered that it had only a few shillings. He wasn’t sure if he’d be able to afford to pay for it. Marquis Yin saw Tian Wei’s little eyes looking very determined to acquire the seal, so he could only smile and ask the boss, “I don’t know how much this seal is?”

While the boss kept mumbling something about ‘this is really a loss of money, and don’t come back next time,’ Tian Wei went out of the painting and calligraphy store with his seal, followed by Marquis Yin, who couldn’t stop rubbing his temples with a knotted expression. He had no idea the little seal cost five taels of silver, nevertheless he still persuaded the boss to sell it to him.. It’s all for the sake of his ancestor. Back there, he was  chastised for wandering about without bringing any money, as if not having the plan of buying anything. Marquis Yin grinned as he gazed at Tian Wei. Anyway, he couldn’t help it and promptly followed after Tian Wei. 0RdKG8
