Route of RetreatCh73 - Finale

KEIGHTY: Special thanks to Gofa for the ko-fi! ( ˘ ³˘)♥ (Extra Chapter 2/3)

Qiao Mudong assisted He Yu as they went to the seventh floor. The seventh floor was the VIP ward of the surgical department building. They were all single suites with TV and internet. iUFWbL

Qiao Mudong asked about Ling Qiang’s ward at the nurse’s station. When they walked over, he saw Wen Guanghua standing outside the door.

Wen Guanghua turned around to look at them, nodded, and asked He Yu, “How’s it going?”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

He Yu replied, “It’s nothing, I’m almost good.”

Wen Guanghua said, “Have a good rest and recover soon.” 9Vu3oB

He Yu smiled and mumbled, “Thank you.”

Qiao Mudong asked him, “Why aren’t you going in?”

Wen Guanghua looked at the ward and answered, “Fu Chenshan is here. He’s talking to Mr. Ling right now.”

Hearing this, Qiao Mudong looked at He Yu. He Yu’s expression did not change. He pulled Qiao Mudong and said, “Then we’ll wait.”

SHAI0B

In the ward, Ling Qiang was sitting on the bed with his clothes on. His mental state was not very good.

Fu Chenshan sat face-to-face with him and stated, “Dad, Zhilu and I have decided to divorce by agreement.”

Ling Qiang’s eyes were a little cloudy. As they passed over Fu Chenshan’s body, his eyes appeared heavy and weak.

He accidentally discovered the text message He Wutong sent to Zhou Xuelan from her mobile phone. He Wutong had indeed left Chongfeng obediently ever since he accepted Qiao Mudong’s money to help him pay off his debts. But after hanging around doing nothing for a while, he still had no money, so he started to think about Zhou Xuelan again. He sent a text message to Zhou Xuelan, asking Zhou Xuelan to transfer money to his account and threatening her that he would tell Ling Qiang if she didn’t do it. aTu9bx

Zhou Xuelan was both angry and scared. She wanted to change her phone but was afraid of attracting Ling Qiang’s attention. She was so anxious all day long that Ling Qiang finally felt that something was wrong.

One day, when Zhou Xuelan was taking a shower, she put her mobile phone in the drawer. Ling Qiang heard the sound of text messages while he was in the room, so he opened the drawer to look for the source of the sound and saw the text message Zhou Xuelan received.

He opened the text message, and inside it was an unsightly photo sent by He Wutong.

Zhou Xuelan came out in her pajamas after taking a shower. Ling Qiang picked up her mobile phone and threw it hard against the wall, smashing the phone into pieces. He yelled angrily, “You shameless woman!” NJSYDt

Zhou Xuelan had a look of horror on her face, leaning her back against the wall and looking at her cell phone.

The entire back cover of the phone, including the battery, had been thrown open. The screen was cracked, and there was nothing else to be seen. She gasped lightly, knowing that Ling Qiang had probably discovered something. Maybe it was a phone call from He Wutong, or maybe it was a text message from He Wutong.

At that moment, Zhou Xuelan suddenly felt relieved. She no longer needed to hide from Ling Qiang in pain, nor would she even continue to deal with He Wutong anymore. She was completely relaxed all of a sudden. She stood up, still holding on to the wall. Then she walked to the bed and sat down slowly.

Ling Qiang said coldly, “Don’t you have anything to say?” MIBja4

Zhou Xuelan replied slowly, “What else can I say? Haven’t you seen everything already?”

Ling Qiang pointed at her. “How could you do such a shameless thing?”

Zhou Xuelan raised her head and looked at Ling Qiang. “I didn’t care about being shameless for a long time. You and I have been married for almost thirty years, but have you ever been a little attentive to me? I have long since dreamed the same thing every day. Enough is enough! Since you don’t have any feelings for me, why can’t I go out and find another man?!”

“I don’t have any feelings for you? Have I ever been unfair to you? Have I ever made you suffer since we’ve been married for so long? Was there anything you wanted that I haven’t bought for you? When your parents were still here before, during the holidays, what time did I not accompany you back to your parents’ home and treat them respectfully? And now, you went out to find another man? Look at what kind of man you found! Why did he send those photos to your mobile phone? He’s clearly asking you for money, ah!” lzPepj

Zhou Xuelan started to cry. She raised her hands and half covered her face. “Yes, I found a man like him. It was because I was blind and I couldn’t see people clearly anymore. Ever since I followed you, I have been blind for the rest of my life! You’re saying you’re so good to me? Do you even know what I like to eat? What do I like to wear? Do you remember when’s my birthday? When is our wedding anniversary? If you’re really good to me, you wouldn’t bring home the son you had from a woman outside! You didn’t even think about me in your heart. For decades, you were still thinking about that woman who jumped off the building!”

“Shut up!” Ling Qiang lifted the lamp on the bedside table to the ground with one hand. “Now that you’re having illicit relations with a man outside, what qualifications do you have to criticize me?!”

The quarrel between the two people alerted Uncle Xu and Aunt Xu downstairs. Outside the door, the two of them fell into a dilemma. They didn’t know whether they should go in or not. However, when they heard the sound of something being smashed, they were afraid that an accident would happen to them, so they hastily opened the door and went in to dissuade them.

Aunt Xu supported Zhou Xuelan, while Uncle Xu advised Ling Qiang, “Mr. Ling, don’t be like this. Look, there are glass fragments on the ground. Be careful, it might hurt others.” ybqACk

Zhou Xuelan couldn’t stop crying. Ling Qiang didn’t want to argue with her in front of the others, so he said, “You should properly sober up first!”

As soon as she finished speaking, Zhou Xuelan pushed herself away from Aunt Xu’s support, walked to the window alone, turned over, and jumped out without warning. That move was so sudden that even Aunt Xu, who was closest to her, didn’t expect it, let alone Ling Qiang. By the time she reacted and reached out to stop her, it was already too late.

The second floor was not high, but Zhou Xuelan was old after all. Both of her legs were broken on the spot, and she was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. iMwFd4

Ling Qiang hurriedly chased after her from the second floor. When he saw Zhou Xuelan lying on the lawn, his vision suddenly went dark, causing him to faint.

The couple were then sent to the same hospital. Ling Zhilu hurried back from abroad, visited her mother, then her father, and finally stayed by Zhou Xuelan’s bedside.

After Zhou Xuelan regained consciousness, she insisted on transferring to another hospital. Ling Zhilu had no choice but to help her go through the transfer procedures before going to another large hospital in the city.

And Ling Qiang, since that day, had never had the chance to see Zhou Xuelan. So he could never ask her: Why did she choose to jump off the building at that moment? 6X2zfl

Now, Fu Chenshan was sitting across from him, telling him that he and Ling Zhilu were getting divorced.

Ling Qiang leaned on the hospital bed and looked at Fu Chenshan. “What do you think?” He asked what thoughts Fu Chenshan had.

Fu Chenshan answered, “I think this might be better.”

“Is divorce better for you?” Ling Qiang asked again. IgtAm5

Fu Chenshan raised his head and wiped his face with his hand tiredly. “Zhilu has made a decision. I can tell that no matter what I say, it can’t be changed anymore.”

Ling Qiang was silent for a moment before he said, “Nothing is absolute.”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Fu Chenshan lowered his head, looked at the ground, and after a while, he said, “Zhilu said that she doesn’t want to be like you in the future, living together with different dreams for decades, which is meaningless.”

Hearing this, Ling Qiang closed his eyes. 6s7eb3

Fu Chenshan added, “Zhilu probably thought it through this time.”

Ling Qiang opened his eyes and asked, “Don’t you love her?”

Fu Chenshan looked at his hands on his knees. “I probably don’t love her that much.”

Ling Qiang said, “Then leave. Since you’ve all decided, then I have nothing else to say. If you want to leave, just leave.” 6xXkUj

Fu Chenshan stood up. He originally wanted to call him ‘Dad’, but he felt it was inappropriate at the moment, so he simply said, “Take care of yourself.”

Ling Qiang asked him, “Chenshan, have you ever thought that one day you will regret it?”

Fu Chenshan replied, “I have always regretted the past, but if I’d really go back to the past, I’m not sure whether or not I would make the same choice again, so this question is actually meaningless to me.”

Ling Qiang leaned his head back and said, “Then you go ahead. Regarding the company’s matters, you should still stay. Don’t throw it away.” 1jWKsI

Fu Chenshan nodded. “I know.”

When Fu Chenshan came out of the ward, the first thing he saw was He Yu, who was wearing patient clothes. He saw the gauze on He Yu’s head and arms, took a step forward, and inquired, “Xiao Yu? Why are you injured like this?”

Qiao Mudong held He Yu in one hand and stood in front of him. “Don’t worry about it.”

Fu Chenshan looked at Qiao Mudong and finally said to He Yu, “Can I have a few words with you?” Nvniz2

He Yu held Qiao Mudong’s hand and shook his head. “Chenshan, I’m sorry. I misunderstood you last time. But what I said that day was all serious. I have nothing more to say to you.”

Fu Chenshan looked at their clasped hands, lowered his head, and smiled somewhat self-deprecatingly. “I understand. Xiao Yu, I wish for your happiness.”

He Yu replied, “Thank you.”

Watching Fu Chenshan leave, Qiao Mudong held He Yu’s hand tightly. “Let’s go inside.” cifmPC

Pushing open the door of the ward, Ling Qiang’s eyes were still closed to rest. He heard the footsteps of someone coming in. As he slowly opened his eyes, he asked, “Who is it?”

Qiao Mudong held He Yu’s hand and walked to Ling Qiang’s hospital bed.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Ling Qiang looked at He Yu carefully from head to toe and asked, “What are you doing here?”

Qiao Mudong answered, “To take a look at you.” cL2RC6

Ling Qiang seemed to be unable to argue with them anymore. He was currently lying on the hospital bed in this state, so he couldn’t say anything to threaten the two of them to separate. He even began to feel confused as to what purpose they still had to presistently come here.

He asked He Yu, “How did you end up like this?”

Qiao Mudong looked down at He Yu’s injured arm and said, “He was beaten up in order to find evidence to rescue me.”

“Oh?” Ling Qiang also looked at He Yu’s injured hand. XAG73o

Qiao Mudong sighed. “But you’re still better than me. Two women jumped off the building for you. It’s a pity that you don’t know how to cherish any of them.”

He Yu quietly pulled Qiao Mudong from behind to tell him to stop talking.

Ling Qiang smiled; the curve of his mouth looked a bit stiff. He asked, “Do you have anything else to say to me?”

Qiao Mudong actually had nothing to say. He and Ling Qiang had too many exchanges, and no one had been able to convince the other. The only thing he could do now was to let Ling Qiang know that he was very happy and make Ling Qiang understand that he was wrong. oWyA6c

Qiao Mudong then put his arms around He Yu’s shoulders and said, “We’re getting married. I hope you can come to participate.”

“Getting married?” Ling Qiang seemed to have heard some big joke. “Two men getting married? Who would recognize it?”

He Yu suddenly said, “Whether I’m happy or not, why do I need recognition from others? I don’t need anyone’s recognition. I only make promises with the people I love.”

Hearing this, Qiao Mudong smiled and kissed him on the cheek. OHd3DY

Ling Qiang stared ahead with dull eyes, saying nothing else.

Qiao Mudong said to him, “I just came to see you. Take care of yourself, Lingyun still has to rely on you for support.” After saying that, he took He Yu’s hand and walked out of the ward.

Upon reaching the door, they found that Wen Guanghua was still standing there.

Qiao Mudong asked him, “Is there someone else here to guard him?” we9ULI

Wen Guanghua said, “I will hire a nurse to stay with Mr. Ling 24 hours a day.”

Qiao Mudong inquired again, “Where’s his daughter?”

Wen Guanghua sighed helplessly. “She’s staying with Mrs. Ling.”

Qiao Mudong nodded. “I have to trouble you in looking after him.” Then, Qiao Mudong pulled He Yu and said, “We’ll go back now.” UPW2bB

He Yu muttered, “I can’t walk anymore.”

Qiao Mudong kneeled down and said, “Come up, I’ll carry you.”

He Yu laid down and asked Qiao Mudong to carry him on his back. Qiao Mudong then carried He Yu on his back to take the elevator, and the two of them returned to the floor where He Yu’s ward was. People looked over along the way, and a nurse asked, “Is there something wrong?”

Qiao Mudong said, “He’s fine.” kzPabO

So the nurse remarked unhappily, “Please don’t fool around in the corridor, it will affect other patients’ rest.”

Qiao Mudong suddenly felt a little embarrassed. “Who’s fooling around?!”

He Yu kicked him and asked him to put him down. Then he said to the nurse, “I’m sorry, we will pay attention.” Then he pulled Qiao Mudong to leave.

Qiao Mudong complained, “That little nurse always looks at me offensively.” Uv2 HR

He Yu smiled and commented, “Maybe that person actually likes you.”

Mhm, mhm.” Qiao Mudong said, “I’m so popular, why don’t you quickly show them that I’m yours?”

He Yu said, “How should I show it, ah?”

Qiao Mudong replied, “That depends on your own understanding.” tg8DhG

He Yu raised his right hand, put his arm around Qiao Mudong’s neck, made him bend down, and kissed him on the lips.

Qiao Mudong immediately deepened the kiss.

The little nurse poked her head over, and when she saw this scene, her face turned red with anger. “This is a hospital! I’m going to call the police!”

He Yu was instantly startled. He quickly pulled Qiao Mudong towards the ward. uPNKoC

Three years later.

He Yu was in Qiao Mudong’s arms, lying together in the large bathtub while they were being massaged, watching the stars.

Qiao Mudong sighed. “When I moved out from here, I’ve really thought about buying this place back one day.”

He Yu smiled and said nothing. GVvaJw

Qiao Mudong said, “Finally, Ling Qiang has kept the house empty and unoccupied, even refusing to sell it. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have had this after such a long time.”

He Yu said, “Actually, it doesn’t have to be here.”

Qiao Mudong grabbed the shampoo bottle next to him, squeezed out some, and applied it to He Yu’s head. “I noticed that you liked it here very much.”

He Yu nodded. “I like it very much. Everything is still the same as when I left. It feels so good.” IRK JO

Qiao Mudong said, “Now, say thanks to Ling Qiang.”

He Yu hummed an “nn” and repeated after him, “Thanks to him.”

Qiao Mudong laughed out loud. “You’re so easily satisfied.”

He Yu also laughed. “I’m indeed satisfied.” gVddG7

Qiao Mudong helped He Yu wash the foam off his head. He Yu stood up, sat on the edge of the bathtub, and let Qiao Mudong sit between his legs. “Okay, now I’ll help you wash yours.”

Qiao Mudong said, “Call me daye.”

He Yu pinched his throat and yelled, “Qiao-daye!”

Qiao Mudong nodded. “Good boy——” TzQf6G

The author has something to say:

The main text is over. Let’s start the extras tomorrow… w2PvQ3

KEIGHTY: We still have 21 extras coming through! The first 18 extras are Li Tang’s extras and the last 3 extras are prison extras. If you’re not interested in Li Tang’s side story, you can skip or wait for the prison extras. However, I’m going to advise you this—the prison extras are not for the soft-hearted ones. We will have a glimpse of how He Yu and Qiao Mudong’s “relationship” developed in prison, which was probably unhealthy in some way, given my previous warnings about their primary meeting. It’s not a fluffy arc, so, you can also stop here if you don’t have the courage to read it. But if you’re curious how they really met, feel free to jump in this pit with me ^^v

  1. I can’t believe it’s over! Thank you for such a wonderful translation, this was a beautiful novel, I really wasn’t expecting to love it this much 😍 I’ll definitely be waiting for those prison extras, I’m so interested in how everything started

Interesting choice from the author too to never really expose that MC was wrongfully convicted (unless I missed something?) – I kind of like it that way though, as it shows just how little he cares about his past friend now

    • yeah… it’s still not that clear isn’t it? At first I thought FCS needed the money for his family, but then when He Yu fought with him after Qiao Mudong was sent to detention center it seemed that FCS was just greedy for money? And yes, other people still doesn’t really know it wasn’t He Yu who did it. Although I wish they all know, you’re right in that it shows He Yu doesn’t really care about his past friends. In a way, perhaps it just shows that he’s healing from all that? So it’s a good thing… 🤔

  2. wow…. i didn’t expect that most extras would be Li Tang’s 😅

Here I thought FCS would lose all his money and career… He really was let off easy 🙁

Also didn’t expect that Zhou Xuelan would jump off like that. And there’s no explanation on what she was thinking either. It’s not like her situation is the same as Qiao Mudong’s mom. I don’t think she loves Ling Qiang so much either, otherwise she wouldn’t have cheated… Wasn’t her background quite good too? Just divorce him is enough 🙄

  3. Thank you for translating this wonderful story. Your translation is always incredible and easy to understand (I use the translator to translate into my language)

I say goodbye here. It was incredible to watch. Thank you honey ❤️

  4. I personally dont really interested into li rang story but thank you for the translation.

I hope there are translator who are willing to translate another title from this autor ‘wilderness vegetative’. I tried to mtled but many paragraphs cannot be translated i wonder why 😩

  5. Thank you so much for your hard work! This story was definitely an enjoyable read and each character were realistic and not too wishy washy. The only regrettable thing is that fu chenshan didn’t suffer enough. But knowing how he lost his precious loyal childhood friend and even got a divorce in the end, it sure suck being him right now. And sigh, we all knew how QM r*ped HY the first time in the prison so i think im good with stopping just here since I’m also not that interested in li tang’s love story. Off to read burnha now~

    • Sadly, yep. The extras will indeed depict that scene. Wise decision! Let’s not risk our Qiao-daye’s favorability in our hearts~ Thank youuu so much, I really enjoyed reading all of your comments (i’ve been waiting for them ⁄(⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄)

  6. I’m a bit sad that their story is over, I liked this couple a lot!

Thank you for the great translation and allowing us to enjoy this amazing novel!
