PreyCh25 - Parent and Child

Cotton candy.

  3FgRvr

It was the favorite food of 4 year old Kloh. He inherently associated it with his mother. Every time they went to a fair, a birthday party, or a carnival, his mother would be hina huge cotton candy stick to eat. He’d get extra high on the sugar rush then immediately crash once they got home. It was his favorite. And his favorite person always got it for him. His mom.

He could remember the early mornings of being woken up to go on morning walks. The rainy days where they played outside in the puddles. The snow days spent making snow angels. The weekends spent with his grandparents. The matching outfits, all the matching outfits. He loved her. His mother. She was his favorite person. And baby Kloh believed with his whole heart that he was hers.

  LdnxMq

Until a couple weeks after he turned 5. It was the summer before he started first grade. He remembered being woken up late on a bright Sunday morning. Aida put him into his favorite pink overalls and bucket hat. She packed his cat suitcase with all his favorite outfits. He got to pick three of his favorite stuffed animals to accompany him. They got in the car and drove to his grandparents house.

He loved going there though so he didn’t mind. Grandma Aman and grandpa Fabian always had his favorite snacks waiting whenever he came over. Plus he could stay up late watching movies. And they’d read him his favorite book over and over again without complaint. He was happy to visit them.

When he was dropped off, he ran out of the car and into the house. He waved enthusiastically at his mom as she drove away. She didn’t wave back but he didn’t think much of it. Sometimes she couldn’t see him from the car because he was short. But as he walked in he realized he never got his see you later kiss.

This time, the usual week-long visit never ended.

  VnBXY9

He would ask his grandparents when mom was going to pick him up. The two elders would look at each other, sending quiet messages to each other. Then they would easily distract little 5 year old Kloh. But after three weeks, the distractions no longer worked. Kloh had started to sit by the front door, his little suitcase packed and sitting beside him. He would sit there all day, listening as cars passed by. Even if his grandparents managed to get him to leave his lost to eat he would go right back after. It wasn’t until the summer ended and he started a new school close to his grandparents house that he realized that she wasn’t coming back for him.

She had abandoned him.

  2LnADQ

His favorite person had left him. Had given him away. And she never said goodbye.

Fast forward to 9 years later. His grandparents had died in a boat accident. A vicious storm capsized a boat they had rented with a friend. There were no survivors.  He was only 14 and was trying to deal with funeral arrangements when she showed up.

  ne2743

He was still in mourning when he really saw her again. Like really saw her. In those 9 years, he had occasionally seen her mostly by accident. He hadn’t been able to sit face to face with her. She looked smaller than he remembered, older too. She was no longer the cotton candy he loved so much as a kid.

She took over the funeral duties without much effort. Once that was done he realized he had to go live with her as he was still a minor. Also the school he attended was much closer to her house. Since there was no longer anyone to drive him to school and the commute would take 2 hours by alternative means, he put aside his anger and hatred and moved in with her. Those 4 years were touchy.

  KyaLJC

At one point he decided to do what he could to get on her good side. Then he decided to just hate her with every fiber of his being. And eventually he settled into a mild indifference as he matured.

“It’s just weird, you know. You’d think she would give me some kind of explanation for whatever happened in those 9 years. But nothing. She just pretended like nothing happened. Like everything was normal.” Kloh sighed and fell into the bed face first.

  I3A1qt

Dex pushed him over before dropping down next to him.

“She never hinted at what might have happened?” He asked as he rolled over on his side to face Kloh.

  aDmdUG

“Nope. We kind of just lapsed into an unspoken agreement to not mention her absence from my life.” Kloh turned his head to face Dex.

“Did you ever, you know, try to investigate?”

  rGLbIW

Kloh crossed his arms under his head using them as a pillow as he faced Dex.

“Once. But then I had this realization. What if I was the reason she left? What if what I found out was something that would make me forgive her? I didn’t want to forgive her. I didn’t want to know if it was my fault. So I stopped digging.”

  gzXkwx

Dex nodded in understanding. “Makes sense. So you spent 9 years apart. And lived like strangers for 4 more.”

“Basically.”

  BwTqAY

“Wait, so how did she get you to take those pills if you two didn’t talk to each other?” Dex asked.

“I still went to see Dr. Chase as my main doctor. She’s good friends with him. They probably conspired together.”

  p6toWQ

“Oh.”

“Yeah. And you know what, thinking about it now, she lied to me about a lot of things.”

  Xo7f5V

“Like what?”

“My father for one. When I was a kid she always said he was dead. But he isn’t.”

  BpVKad

Dex stared into Kloh’s eyes a bit surprised, “Really? Have you met him?”

Kloh nodded. “Kind of. He sucks though so I’m not all that upset over that lie.”

Dex rolled his eyes and jabbed Kloh in the side.

“First of all I’m an adult who is voluntarily here. Second, they’re okay. I’m glad you like them. I am even happier that they like you.”

  FVnXLQ

Kloh grinned. Dex reached forward and booped Kloh’s nose. The man scrunched up his nose in response. Dex laughed. He sighed softly and brushed his thumb across Kloh’s cheek. The look on his face softened.

“I’m sorry you didn’t get the mom you deserved.” He whispered.

  rv4oUZ

Kloh smiled quietly and closed his eyes. He was too.

“You’ll never guess who slid in my DMs asking about you.” Wesley excitedly shook Dex.

“Please calm down first. And stop shaking me, you’re gonna ruin my mixing.” Dex patiently said as he pried Wesley off of him.

  NQzP1c

“Fine. Fine.” Wesley sat on the stool next to him.

“Thank you.” Dex put down the stirrer and let the solution settle.

  OFlGZf

After making sure that there were no unexpected reactions he sighed in relief. He carefully put the label on the flask and closed it. He took a quick glance around the room. Not many people were in the lab today. Most people were still on vacation. So it was a quiet period that Dex liked to use to do more difficult experiments. He turned to Wesley who was patiently waiting.

“Alright. Who slid into your DMs?” Dex asked.

  DF9iek

“You remember that drop dead gorgeous alpha, Sebastian you had a crush on a couple months back?” Wesley whispered excitedly.

Dex frowned a bit. “Yeah, what about him?”

  lsIBa5

“Turns out that slut that he picked over who ended up cheating on. Exactly like I said! And now he’s trying to reach out to you. But you had his account blocked. I thought I did as well but I guess not. Anyway he was asking about you and shit. Isn’t that crazy?!” Wesley giggled.

“What the fuck?!” Dex scoffed.

  Cy8ZOw

“I know!”

“What makes him think I’m just waiting around for him?”

  Cip9Md

“Exactly! So I told him to fuck off and that you were already taken by a better alpha who loves and cares for you. And is like a million times better than he ever could be. Ha! Take that asshole.” Wesley laughed maniacally.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Dex rolled his eyes at Wesley’s crazy laugh. But he couldn’t help but chuckle.

  gLpBsZ

“Here look. I read him for filth. Then blocked him. Who the fuck does he think he is?” Wesley sucked his teeth and pulled out his phone.

Dex looked at the chat records. The noticeable thing was the mini paragraphs of exorcist curses beautifully written out by Wesley. The omega had a smug look on his face as he proudly presented his work to Dex.

  EIvF8R

“Thanks.” Dex patted Wesley’s head.

“Of course! Fuck that guy! Kloh is way better. Plus he’s your one and only. You two are fated like me and Mars.” Wesley grinned widely.

  ISeFdT

Dex nodded in agreement.

“Anyway that aside I have something else to tell you.” Wesley put his phone down.

  mPKzlA

“Okay. What’s up?” Dex leaned against the table and raised a brow.

“I might be pregnant.”

  FgJ1CN

“WHAT?!” Dex shot up, knocking the stool out from under him.

“Relax. God.” Wesley grabbed Dex before he could tumble down with the stool.

  5LnDK3

Luckily the few people in the room had on headsets otherwise Dex was sure they would be giving him weird looks. Dex stared at him, wide-eyed. Pregnant?! What the fuck?!

“Pregnant? As in with a child? Ohmygod Wesley!” Dex lowered his voice.

  C fa3P

“I said might.” Weslye crossed his arms and looked away with a pout.

“What does that even mean? You either are or aren’t.”

  feQVqv

“It means that I don’t trust the at-home pregnancy test and I’m too scared to go in person.” He bit his lip and looked down.

Dex relaxed a bit. He reached and held onto Wesley’s shoulders.

  O5vHVT

“What did the at home test say?” He softly asked.

“Three said pregnant. One said inconclusive.”

  1gVCyd

Dex silently cursed. He stepped forward and hugged his best friend. Wesley kind of melted into his embrace the way he did when he was emotionally overwhelmed.

“Have you told Mars yet?” Dex asked.

  tvwEJb

Wesley shook his head. “Not yet.”

“Okay. Why don’t we go to the clinic by Kloh’s house and get an official test? We’re having dinner there later. I’m sure he’ll be cool if you join us.” Dex suggested.

  0LI Sl

Wesley nodded his head in the embrace and let out a shaky breath. “Okay. We can do that.”

“Alright. Good. We have a plan. Everything will be fine, Wesley.”

  zYU7Xi

“I know.” The reply was muffled and a bit weak.

“You know Mars would be happy if you were and he’d also be fine if you weren’t. You’re literally the center of his world. As long as you’re happy, he’s happy. Remember that.”

  EvtbQJ

Wesley took a deep breath and nodded. They hugged a little longer until Wesley felt better. When they parted they both tactically ignored the tears that had fallen from Wesley. Dex quickly texted Kloh. After getting confirmation for dinner with Wesley, the two packed their stuff and headed out.

The ride to the clinic was quiet. Dex and Wesley sat in the back of the taxi holding hands. Wesley leaned on Dex’s shoulder, eyes closed. Dex nervously looked out the window. He knew that Wesley was terrified. Not because he might be pregnant because he always wanted to have kids, more importantly Mars’s kids. He was terrified of not being able to love them the way he wanted to.

  3dTud

Both he and Wesley had a plan. They would start their careers together at the ABO institute in genetics and pheromone research. They would create the ultimate inhibitors for omegas making the stress of estrus obsolete. In that time Wesley would marry Mars and when he was about 27 they would try for kids. Once he was secure in his career. Wesley didn’t want to be like his parents who had kids at the height of their career and made the decision to focus on their career instead of the children they created. Dex knew Wesley would put his kids first but Wesley was afraid that he’d resent his children. And he didn’t want that. Which is why he and Mars were always careful. Dex had planned on being the rich uncle who would spoil his nieces and nephews. Now that he had Kloh, kids were now a factor in his plans. He had shifted his thinking similar to Wesley’s plan. But now he was scared as well. He didn’t factor in accidental pregnancy. Neither of them did.

The process of getting out of the car and into the clinic then to the exam room was a blur. It was pretty early in the day so there weren’t many people waiting inside. They were quickly seen. Once the doctor came in, the whole thing felt a bit more real. Wesley was a bit like a zombie which left Dex to do most of the talking. After answering everything he could and getting Wesley out of his funk to reply to the more personal questions, they took a blood sample. The doctor said they would run the test in house and since it was a slow day they would be able to get the results back soon. Then she left the room and they were alone. The two sat together in the brightly colored exam room.

  hqGEUR

“Mars wants to be a stay at home dad. Isn’t that crazy?” Wesley laughed shortly.

“He does?” Dex asked.

  gO6C5I

“Yeah. He said that he wants to be a trophy husband. I’ll be a famous scientist and he’ll be a homemaker who takes care of the kids.” Wesley laughed again.

“I can’t imagine that.” Dex laughed a bit.

  t83D9e

“I know right. Imagine Mars in an apron making a casserole and waiting for me to get home. All I can imagine is him as a 50’s housewife with hair and everything.”

They laughed.

  4G6EX7

“It actually sounds pretty attractive.” Wesley giggled.

“I would love to see it.” Dex agreed.

  3Es2Y5

They sighed as the laughter died down.

“I’m not ready to be a dad.” Wesley whispered after several minutes passed.

  dVIc M

“I know.” Dex replied and squeezed his hand.

“What Mars doesn’t like the baby? What if I don’t like them? What if they hate us? Or just me?” Wesley spoke quickly as his breathing picked up.

  Xe9LpW

“Mars loves you. Anything the two of you could create or literally anything that has a part of you will be loved by him. The same goes for you. And how would the baby not love you two? It’s sickening how easy it is for someone to like the both of you. Your baby will be the perfect mixture of annoying and lovable.” Dex reassured him as he stroked Wesley’s back.

“What if I’m exactly like my parents?” Wesley’s voice cracked and tears started to fall.

  dS91Pl

Dex wrapped him into a hug. Wesley cried softly.

“You’re nothing like your parents. Don’t ever say that again. Mars will kick your ass and mine if I even let you entertain that thought.” Dex muttered into his hair.

  xqTRMb

Wesley laughed a bit and sniffled. “He would.”

“And as you know I’m not a taken man. I can’t have Kloh getting beat up trying to save me from Mars.”

  r8x4eh

Wesley laughed and Dex joined him. Wesley sniffled a bit more before taking a deep breath. He pulled back from the hug. Dex wiped his face and tucked away some loose strands of hair. Wesley gave him a smile, looming way more relaxed than before.

“Thanks.” Wesley said.

  eApEmX

Dex smiled and flinched his nose. “Anything for you.”

“Knock knock, may I come in?”

  396RJW

Wesley cleared his throat and rubbed his face. DeX took his hand and turned so that he wasn’t standing directly in front of Wesley.

“Come in.” Wesley called out.

  i5QAXa

The doctor, Dr. Callum came in with a thin folder. She took a glance between them and smiled softly. She sat at the desk and opened the folder. She handed over the page to Wesley.

“You aren’t pregnant.”

  udD4Zg

Wesley gasped and Dex let out the breath he was holding. She smiled and moved closer. She patted Wesley’s knee before handing him some tissues.

“The reason the test came back positive is because you’re in an early heat. Irregular heats happen sometimes at this age. It’s not permanent. Use condoms and the appropriate contraceptives and you’ll be okay.” She explained.

  YdwpAn

Wesley wordlessly nodded. After going over some things and handing Wesley some appropriate inhibitors they were free to go. As they exited the clinic, they saw Kloh waiting outside by his car. He waved them over. The two omegas walked over and got into the backseat of the car. For a moment no one said anything.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Then Wesley screamed. Kloh jumped in surprise. Dex started laughing wildly. The two hugged each other in relief. Kloh watched on in shock.

  FbQigh

“Are y’all okay?” Kloh asked over all the noise.

“Okay! I’m fucking amazing!” Wesley yelled out.

  2z1WTq

Dex grinned and leaned forward between the seats. He curved over the driver’s seat and kissed Kloh deeply. Kloh bit back a surprised sound and reciprocated. After several seconds, Dex pulled back satisfied.

“You heard him. We’re fucking amazing.” Dex laughed and kissed Kloh again before falling back into his seat.

  4ujV98

“Please tell me you have alcohol at your house.” Wesley asked, catching his breath from all the screaming.

Kloh nodded a bit dazed, a bit confused and a bit horny. Wesley happily sighed and fell into Dex. They two hugged each other.

  dQBsN5

“I’m buying you a shit ton of condoms for Christmas.” Dex told him.

“Ditto.” Wesley hummed in agreement.

  1. And this is why they’re called pregnancy scares.

Honestly if Westley had been pregnant I wouldn’t blame him if he chose to get an abortion. At this point in his life I don’t think he’s ready.

  2. Yay he isn’t pregnant! That was an intenseread, ngl. I felt sorry for Wes and I’m glad there’s not a baby. It’s definitely not the right time for him and Mars.
