Dex was avoiding him. Kloh was sure of it. He only realized after the plans they had made were pushed back for the third time. As the semester was picking they had talked less often the past week. And Kloh understood that it’d be hard to get together often as the midterms approached. Dex was doing a thesis and was always busy so Kloh didn’t see the issue when Dex pushed back their date for school reasons. But a week had passed and they hadn’t seen each other which was weird. Kloh finally came to the conclusion on Friday night after getting another excuse from Dex.
Kloh looked intensely at his phone as if trying to get Dex to text him. But as he continued to stare nothing happened. He could only poke his phone in frustration.
“Kloh, are you okay? You seem distracted.” A beta named Manny asked, bringing him back to the present.
“What? Huh? Oh yeah I’m good.” Kloh put his phone down on that table.
Kloh sat at a table in the quad with Manny and Dmitri. They were assigned a group project for their Social Theory class. Manny, fully named Armando, was one of the few betas in their class. He was a big guy, built like a linebacker. He stood at 5’9” with charcoal colored hair and dark green eyes. He had a chubby face that made him look cute and lovable. There were many times that Kloh was tempted to pinch his cheeks. Manny was a cool person overall. He was loud spoken and had a great sense of humor.
“Waiting for your lover’s call?” Manny said in a teasing voice.
“No. No, of course not.” Kloh coughed awkwardly and waved a hand.
Manny let out a hearty laugh and poked Kloh’s phone with a pen. Kloh blushed and turned the phone over. Dmitri glanced at him then at his phone. A small smile danced on his lips. He gave Kloh a little knowing look. Then leaned forward and almost whispered to Kloh.
“Is it the omega you were with last week?”
“Omega? What omega?”
“The short blonde one that you were with last week.”
“Blonde? Omega…….” Kloh paused. The only short and blonde omega that he could think of was…”Ares. You mean Ares?”
“Sure.” Dmitri nodded.
“Wait when did you see him and I?”
“Oh there’s a whole thread about it on the forum.” Manny pulls out his phone.
After a series of clicks, Manny pulled up a locked forum. Kloh watched as he typed in a password and opened up the forum. Manny scrolled down a bit then clicked on a post.
“Here. There’s a whole post on you and your little boyfriend going out around campus.” Manny passed the phone to him.
The post was called ‘The favored gentle A was actually already taken’. As he read the post, Kloh immediately laughed.
“Oh my! Wow! This is……… just wow.”
Another laugh left him as he scrolled through the replies.
“So you two aren’t……” Dmitri spoke up.
“No no. Oh my, no. Ares is like my little brother. I love him but not like that.” Kloh shook his head and kept laughing.
Tears welled in his eyes as he thought about it. Him and Ares? He couldn’t even imagine what that would look like.
“Ares is great but no. He’s not my boyfriend.” Kloh added as his laughter slowed down.
Manny chuckled and took the phone.
“Well there’s a bunch of omega who have already pledged themselves to you if you’re looking.” Manny exited out of the forum and opened up a chat.
He showed Kloh a chat. Immediately Kloh bursted out laughing at the name of the chat.
“The Gentleman’s Harem.” Kloh read out loud.
“For the little O’s who’ve dedicated themselves to you.” Manny giggled then pointed at Dmitri. “I bet even this little O is in the group.”
“Am not.” Dmitri blushed and pushed the finger away.
They laughed as Manny continued to tease Dmitri.

Kloh continued to scroll through the member list and for a moment saw a familiar name. DexIsNotDexter. Dex?
“Oh and there’s a video of the two of you looking all cozy. It’s very cute. You two make a cute couple.”
Manny took the phone from a confused Kloh. After a minute the phone was put back in his hand and a shoddy video was played. It was him and Ares at a food stall, laughing and talking as they ordered. Kloh could objectively say that he’d be convinced that the two were together.
A thought flashed into his mind. Did Dex see this and think he was with Ares? Kloh shook his head. No way. Right? Yeah, Dex wouldn’t believe this. He knows that Kloh wouldn’t do something like that. But as the actions of the past week went through his head, he couldn’t help but feel that this was the reason Dex was avoiding him. Because there literally was nothing else that made sense. But still Dex knew he wasn’t that kind of person.
“Fuck me.” Kloh whispered.
Kloh picked up his phone and called Lee.
“Lee?! Hello?”
“Babe it’s so early. Why are you calling me?” Lee’s groggy voice filled the speaker.
“It’s literally 1 in the afternoon. That’s not important though. Is Dex on campus today?” He asked as he started shoving his things into his bag.
“What’s wrong Kloh?” “What’s up, man?” Manny and Dmitri asked and watched him pack his bag.
“Yeah. Should be. Why?” Lee mumbled.
“Text me where he is. Thanks. I owe you.” Kloh hung up and stood with his bag.
Kloh got up and turned to the two. “Sorry guys. I need to go handle something. I’ll input the information later. Again sorry.”
“No, it’s fine.” Dmitri said and Manny nodded.
“Later, sorry.”
Kloh quickly checked his phone as he hurried off. Lee’s text popped up with a building name and room number. He chastised himself silently for the breach of privacy but still made his way over to the building.

The sound of relentless knocking snapped Dex out of his sleep. He cursed silently as he sluggishly rolled out of bed. He pulled on a shirt and slowly made his way to the door. Opening it he was surprised to see Kloh standing outside his door. They both spoke at the same time.
“Kloh?”
“Why are you avoiding me?”
They both froze. Dex averted his gaze and silently hid behind his door a bit. Kloh took a deep breath and tried to calm the anxiety that had built up on his walk over. He knew that he might seem crazy to Dex at the moment. But the thought that Dex might have a ridiculous misconception about him really bothered him. Added to the fact that he was frustrated that Dex probably believed that he was the kind of person to do something like that, he had a shit ton of emotions running through him.
“I’m not avoiding you.” Dex whispered in a gruff sleep filled voice.
But he didn’t look at Kloh. Instead he stared at the man’s shoes. Kloh winced and shook himself. Dex was clearly lying but Kloh didn’t want to call him out on it.
“Ares and I are friends. We’ve never had anything other than friendship between us. He’s like a little brother to me. You can ask Lee. Plus he has a strong distaste for alphas.” Kloh started explaining.
“I know.” Dex mumbled.
“And I don’t know why someone would assume such a thing but we didn’t spend the night together in that way. All of my and Lee’s friends stayed over Tuesday night. He didn’t have class Wednesday so he stayed later than the rest. Nothing happened other than watching movies and makeup tutorials.”
“I know.”
“And I really hope you don’t see me as a guy who would go around sleeping with anyone. I promised that I would wait for you and I meant it. And I’m actually really upset that you’d think that I’m that type of person.”
“I know.”
“And I really wished you would’ve asked me directly cause I would’ve explained immediately if I’d known that there was a possibility of being misunderstood. And…”
“For fuck sake Kloh! I know!” Dex loudly interrupted Kloh.
Kloh looked at him a bit dazed. “What?”
“I said I know.” Dex whisper yelled at him.
He looked around, making sure that no one was paying attention to their conversation. Luckily it was a Saturday and most people had gone out already or were still passed out from going out the night before.
“Oh.” Kloh dumbly replied as his mind came to a full halt, his train of thought fully interrupted.
“Yeah.” Dex fiddled with the door knob, eyes still focused on Kloh’s shoes.
“Then why are you avoiding me?” Kloh inquired as his emotions began to settle.
“I wasn….” Dex started.
“Don’t say you weren’t. You were.” Kloh cut him off before he could deny it.
“…….. I’m not denying it. I just…”
Dex looked up and met Kloh’s eyes for a brief second before looking away. Kloh caught a look of embarrassment flitting over Dex’s face. He then took account of the scene. He was still standing outside of Dex’s door, looking frazzled. Dex stood partially behind the door. He looked tired with small dark circles under his eyes. Plus the beginnings of a blush curled around his ears. He shifted, hands fidgeting. His instincts as an alpha roared at him. He had made Dex uncomfortable.
In an instant Kloh realized that this might’ve been a bad idea. He could only imagine how he’d feel if some alpha appeared at his door with a whole spiel while he was trying to sleep. Dex looked really tired and a bit uncomfortable. The last bit of frustration fell away as his whole demeanor softened.
“Can we talk inside? If you’re comfortable with letting me in.” Kloh softly asked.
Dex held the door for a second as he thought about it. He took a deep breath and shuffled backwards with the door, opening it for Kloh to step in. Kloh said thank you and took a step in. He stood right inside the door, not going further in. Dex silently closed the door beside him and turned the lock. He then shuffled backwards so that there was some space between them. They stood in silence for a bit. Kloh cleared his throat and looked up at him, ready to apologize for his behavior.
“I wasn’t avoiding you because of the post. I was doing it because I was embarrassed.” Dex spoke up first.
The words he started to say got caught in Kloh’s throat.
“Embarrassed?…”
Dex cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck.
“At first I did think that you and Ares were something. I got really jealous and wanted to ignore you. By the time I realized I was being irrational, Wesley figured out what happened that day and told me. Afterwards, I realized that I was acting stupid especially since I knew that you weren’t that type of person. But at that point I had been avoiding you for a couple of days and I just …….. didn’t know how to stop without dying of embarrassment.” Dex explained as he glanced at Kloh, the blush on his ears getting brighter as he kept speaking.
Kloh stood for a second, taking in all the information that was given to him. Then a warmth spread in his chest. Dex was jealous? Over him? He knew that he shouldn’t be happy over it but he couldn’t help the small goofy smile that spread across his face.
“You were jealous?” He subconsciously asked.
Dex blushed and looked away. Kloh couldn’t hold back the laugh that came with the joy of knowing that Dex liked him enough to be jealous.
“That’s actually really sweet.” Kloh laughed.
“Shut up.” Dex mumbled and turned away, stalking towards his bed and dropping into it.
He buried his face in his hands. He was freaking cute, Kloh thought as he took a mental picture. He finally had the opportunity to properly look at Dex. The omega had one bright purple shorts and an oversized black shirt with a big teddy bear on it. His hair was sticking out in random places in a complete mess. His ears were a bright red. His long legs were showcased prettily, his little cute toes curling into the carpet underneath his feet. He was absolutely adorable.
“So, are we good now? You’ll pretend this never happened?” Dex asked, his voice muffled.
“Pretend what never happened?” Kloh replied with a grin.
Dex laughed softly. After taking a deep breath he sat up and looked at Kloh. A look passed between them. Then Kloh smiled softly and Dex continued to blush and looked away.
“Also I’m sorry for running over here. And I’m sorry for invading your privacy by asking Lee for your room information. I promise I won’t just show up in future without your permission.” Kloh apologized.
“It’s fine. Honestly if you didn’t say something I don’t how long I would’ve stayed like this.” Dex mumbled and scratched his nose.
Kloh chuckled and nodded. Now that he had accomplished what he wanted he felt like a heavy weight was lifted off of him. He stood straighter and fixed his clothes. He’d leave Dex to catch up on his sleep. Maybe they could reschedule their date for sometime soon.
“Can you stay?” Dex suddenly called out as Kloh got ready to take his leave.
The alpha froze. Stay? Dex wanted him to stay? Kloh’s eye went wide and Dex cleared his throat.
“I can’t sleep. Well I haven’t been sleeping well and Dad said it’s because I haven’t spent much time with you. My body has been missing the scent of your pheromones.” Dex explained, his voice trailing away towards the end as the blush intensified.
“So you want me to sleep with you?” Kloh managed to choke out over his stalling heart.
“Yeah. But just sleep. If you’re cool with it though. I know it’s a weird request. Actually you know what, forget it. You probably have plans.” Dex stood as he started to take back the request.
“NO! No, I’ll stay. I have nothing to do today.” Kloh quickly replied as he conveniently forgot about the stack of homework he planned on getting done that day.
Dex eyed him for a moment. Kloh smiled confidently even as his heart pounded erratically. He had to stay. His omega was requesting his presence. What kind of alpha would he be if he said no. Dex let out a sigh then nodded. He slowly sat back down. He looked at Kloh and patted the bed next to him. Kloh dropped his bag by the door and pulled his shoes off. He then scurried over to Dex, stopping right in front of the omega.
“Is there anything I can wear? I don’t want to sit on your bed in outside clothes.” Kloh asked as he looked down at the mop of messy hair.
Dex nodded and pointed at the trunk at the end of his bed.
“You can grab something from there.” He said.
Kloh smiled down at him. Dex couldn’t bring himself to look at Kloh as he listened to the man walk over to the trunk. He had never felt more embarrassed in his life. First he had avoided the man for over a week without explanation and now that they’d finally made up he was already making weird requests. He actually didn’t even intend to mention the sleep thing. But when he saw Kloh getting ready to leave he remembered what his dad had told him the night before.
“Once an omega meets his alpha, he develops a relatively small case of pheromone addiction. Said omega needs to be able to scent his alpha pheromones every couple of days, especially if he’s already been previously exposed to a large dose of pheromones. If he doesn’t get it, he’ll become lethargic and restless. Which sucks for the omega cause the same doesn’t manifest in the alpha. It eventually fills out once the omega gets marked. But till then it can be a real bitch. So make sure you see Kloh soon or else you’re only hurting yourself.” Lane lectured him after Dex explained the weird feeling he had been getting the past couple of days.
He couldn’t tell Lane that he’d been avoiding Kloh and just agreed that he’d do something. So the request subconsciously just came out. And surprisingly Kloh agreed and he didn’t think it was weird. Dex wanted to explain the full situation but felt awkward so just didn’t say anything. Kloh graciously didn’t ask for a deeper reason and just went with it.
“Will the bed be big enough for both of us?” Kloh asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.
“Yeah. Should be.” Dex automatically replied and picked at the comforter.
“Alright. Then I’ll just get in the bed.” Kloh said.
“Okay.” Dex still didn’t look at him.
But he could clearly hear Kloh climbing past him, into the bed. Dex’s bed was nestled in a corner. Kloh climbed in and settled close to the wall, leaving lots of space for Dex. He watched in slight amusement as Dex stiffly laid down. He was practically on the edge of the bed. Kloh could see his fingers twitching as he continued to pick at the comforter.
Koh took a deep breath and reached over, pulling Dex to him. A small sound of surprise left Dex as he was rolled over. He landed right on Kloh. His head laid on Kloh’s chest. Kloh’s arm rested across the pillows. Half of his body was pressed against Kloh, their legs were tangled together. Dex’s arm rested on Kloh’s chest, curled up. Kloh’s other hand rested on the small of Dex’s back.
“Sorry, I took a sedative not too long ago. You’ll have to be closer to get a decent amount of pheromones.” Kloh roughly said not sounding the least bit sorry.
Dex could hear the rumble in Kloh’s chest as spoke. Although he was still very much embarrassed and awkward, he had to admit this position was much better.
“Okay.” Dex whispered and scooted closer, moving upwards so that his face pressed against Kloh’s neck.
As he pressed his face closer to the gland hiding under the insulation patch, he could better smell Kloh’s pheromones. He greedily took small sniffs that Kloh found insanely adorable. Dex had done the same cute action last time they were in a similar position. He definitely liked the fact that Dex liked his pheromones. His body worked faster as he produced more pheromones.
Dex let out a content sigh as the restless feeling washed away into relaxation. His body felt comfortable and the slumber that had been evading him finally embraced him again. Kloh felt the tension leave Dex’s body and the man fully relaxed in his arms. A moment later, he heard light snores coming from the bigger man as he fell asleep. Kloh smiled as he turned his head a bit and pressed a kiss to Dex’s temple. He then closed his eyes, taking several deep breaths of Dex’s scent. He also fell asleep with a singular thought in his head.
What a good way to spend a Saturday.
