Today I’ve met with a difficult problem, a problem that’s even harder to resolve than Zhao Gongzi.
Wu Ge is back.
Wu Ge is a carefree, unrestrained wanderer. The last time he appeared was at the mid-autumn festival two years ago. Back then, in order to get an excuse not to go back to the family manor and attend the family gathering, Zhao Gongzi had almost purposefully shot himself in the foot with a handgun.
In truth, Zhao Gongzi and Wu Ge don’t actually have some deep-seated enmity, the crux of the problem lies with me.
Wu Ge and I once had a failed elopement attempt, or at least in Zhao Gongzi’s eyes that’s what happened.
At the time I saw the paper slip that Wu Ge had left for me, and I as promised came to the train station. But Wu Ge asked me this, “How did you know I was here? Does Dad know too?”
Me: “?”
“You asked me to come.”
Wu Ge replied, “Huh? No, I didn’t, I asked…..anyways I didn’t ask you to come.”
Then, this was awkward. I just about didn’t know how to breathe.
Wu Ge seemed to also not know how to breathe, and almost couldn’t breathe for real.
That was the first time I couldn’t pry apart Zhao Gongzi’s fingers when he was choking someone to death.
In the end, Wu Ge had to pry them apart himself.
Wu Ge looked at Zhao Gongzi with an expression in his eyes that could be called heartbreaking. “Xiao Long, I…….”
Please don’t tell me that Wu Ge actually wanted to elope with Zhao Gongzi, if that were the case, then I might want to kill myself.
Fortunately, Wu Ge didn’t say that, he only said, “You don’t know what your mom wants.”

Zhao Gongzi covered the phone. “You’re not allowed to make a call!”
I replied, “I’m calling Hao Da to get him to go pick up the key. Otherwise, we both won’t be able to get out.”
Zhao Gongzi replied, “Let him pick it up tomorrow.”
“If you wait a while more, then a passerby will take it.”
Zhao Gongzi hesitated for a moment, then grabbed the telephone handset. He said to Hao Da, that pitiful, misfortunate assistant of his, “Come over to my house and pick up a key, once you’ve picked it up, leave with it. When I call you to come over and open the door, then you can come and open the door.”
After hanging up, he and I both sank into a deep silence.

Seeing as he’d returned somewhat to how he usually is, I was relieved. I put Hamm back down and kissed him.
Zhao Gongzi was even more cautious. “If you dare take even a single step outside, then Laozi’s going to boil your dog.”
If I was going to go and elope with someone, would I care if you boil Hamm or not? Of course I’d take Hamm with me, or what, would I wait for you to hunt me down across the world with Hamm? Hamm is such a traitor, I raised him, yet he’s closer to Zhao Gongzi.
I earnestly and solemnly tried to reason with him. “The one you should worry about is Thirteenth madame.”
Zhao Gongzi’s face became stormy and dark once again. “I can’t control what she does.”
Right, right, right, you can only control what I do. I want to swear too, now.
Zhao Gongzi was just so annoying, able to even force such a good-tempered person like me to the point of wanting to swear.

I was very powerless as well, one can only bend our heads when we’re under someone else's roof after all. I’m only an orphan adopted by the Zhao family, I can only listen to orders.
Zhao Gongzi swore at me. “Bullshit!”
“Change your clothes and go back. Today is the master’s birthday.”

Zhao Gongzi’s eyes burned lasers as he lectured Hamm. “You’re biting Laozi’s clothes again! Laozi’s going to cook you!”
I coldly said, “Put on the clothes that I’m holding.”
Zhao Gongzi started changing clothes.
The plan was going smoother than I’d thought.
I said, “When you’re changing clothes don’t stare at me.”
Zhao Gongzi properly changed his clothes.
Wu Ge really was very handsome and elegant, it was hard to describe.
But we didn’t get to see Wu Ge.
Wu Ge phoned and said that he wasn’t coming back.
Master Zhao Si looked to be already used to it, didn’t lose his temper and only said, “Maybe he’s died outside or something.”
No one said anything, and we all focused on eating.
Zhao Gongzi is the youngest child, and usually gets the most love from Master Zhao Si, but everyone knows that Master Zhao Si really loves Wu Ge the most, because Wu Ge is the only son of Master Zhao Si’s first wife. I looked all over the mansion, and couldn’t find Zhao Gongzi. A thought occurred to me and I hurriedly rushed back to the apartment.
In the dark, Zhao Gongzi ate up all of my chocolate.
I just knew it would be like this.
If I’d known early on it would be like this, then back in the day when I’d first seen Zhao Gongzi drinking Master Zhao Si’s wine because he’d fought with Wu Ge and lost, I wouldn’t have given him half of my chocolates. He’d eaten that half in a few bites, then robbed me of my other half as well.
From then on, every time he loses to Wu Ge, he’ll eat up all my chocolate.
He must be trying to use this kind of method to force me into hating Wu Ge.
When Zhao Gongzi finished eating all of my chocolate, he looked toward my dog.
I desperately tried pushing Hamm out of the door, but Hamm wouldn’t budge. Then, since I can’t save Hamm either, I’ll just go and prepare anise, pepper and fennel.
