Just as I was crossing the living room, the phone rang.
Wu Ge asked, “Yixin, Xiao Long’s fine, right?”
“He has a cold and is sleeping.”
“I’ll come over and see him.”
“It’s rare for you to come back home, you should accompany the Old Master more.”
Wu Ge replied, “Dad and the ambassador had some stuff to do and left, and I just sent Anna back, so I’m near your guys’ apartment. I’d originally wanted to call everyone out to go drinking, but Da Jie said that Xiao Long wasn’t feeling well and went back. That’s why I’m phoning to see how things are. Then I’m on my way to go see him.”
Wu Ge was a very assertive person. As such, he immediately hung up when he finished speaking and didn’t wait for me to say anything.
I put the phone’s handpiece down, then turned around. Zhao Gongzi was there, scaring me out of my wits.
“Could you make a sound when you move?”
Zhao Gongzi said, “Go change, we’ll go and hang out with him.”
I don’t want to change clothes.
Zhao Gongzi said if I didn’t change then that meant I was feeling guilty.
Ugh, he’s so annoying.
The Zhao family siblings rarely gathered together like this in one place. Wu Ge, as usual, easily became the center focal point of the group. He spoke about how he had traversed some very difficult to traverse borders, how he had avoided raining bullets and gunfire, how he had braved the dangers of the jungles, and how he had climbed treacherous, snowy mountains.
Whereas I just want to go home and sleep. Tomorrow I still have to go to work early.
Wu Ge gave each of us a present. Mine was an army knife and Zhao Gongzi’s was a box of chocolates.
He might have gotten something mixed up.
At least, I couldn’t understand why he gave me a knife.
Zhao Gongzi laughingly said, in front of everyone, “So that if you’re bored you can stab me with it.”

We bade farewell to Wu Ge.
Wu Ge sent us up to the car, then suddenly gave me a letter. “This is a letter of recommendation for the capital’s University. Although it’s only an enrollment for sitting in on classes, but no matter what, you should pursue your dreams while you’re still young, after all, a hundred years go by in a blink….”
He looked as if he wanted to say more, but then Da Jie called him, so he only patted my shoulder. “Apart from Ol’ Third, my favourite person at home is you. Take care of yourself.”
I got in the car. Surprisingly, Zhao Gongzi didn’t shout at me, and instead just silently ate chocolates the whole way back.
He and I have at least been like the saying, a husband and wife for a night have a hundred days of grace, and a hundred years comes the fortune of sleeping on the same bed. He really didn’t even leave me a single piece.
Ever since he was young, Zhao Gongzi has always been spoiled. All good things were brought to him, he didn’t need to share with anyone, nor was he willing to share with anyone. That’s why he dislikes Wu Ge.
When we got back to the apartment, I was just preparing to start cooking when Zhao Gongzi stopped me.
He had eaten a lot of chocolates today, and there remained a hint of it on his breath and lips.
Although I’d already repeated myself again and again saying not to smoke when lying in bed, Zhao Gongzi never really listened to me, so he was smoking by the headboard again.
I kept silent for a long while, then said, “I don’t like those clothes of yours.”
Zhao Gongzi didn’t say anything.
“The floor is yours to mop, don’t smoke inside the house, and don’t curse at me anymore.”
Zhao Gongzi still didn’t say anything.
“If you accept these four conditions, then I won’t leave.”
Zhao Gongzi cursed at me, “Fuck, hurry up and scram.”
I didn’t pay any attention to him and fell asleep. Tomorrow morning I have to go to work, and then I have to give the recommendation letter to San Ge. Of course, this letter was given to me by Wu Ge to give to San Ge, but tonight San Ge had some things to do and wasn’t at home, and Wu Ge was probably going to disappear in the middle of the night again .
But I wasn’t going to tell Zhao Gongzi this yet, because I really did hate it when Hamm’s fur reeked of cigarettes, and I really didn’t want to mop the floors.
When I got off work I invited San Ge, whose leg had finally healed, to a café, and gave him the letter.
San Ge smiled. “If dad knows about this, then he’ll definitely be unwilling to hit Ol’ Five again, he’ll hit me again.”
“You should think it over some more.”
San Ge nodded, then he said, haltingly, “Sometimes you shouldn’t tease Xiao Long so much, he’ll take it seriously.”
“What?”
San Ge pointed behind me. I turned around and saw Zhao Gongzi standing outside the glass window behind me. His chin was raised and was staring intently at the letter in San Ge’s hands.
Hamm was going to become a cigarette-flavoured sausage, the floors were going to be ruined by my mopping, those clothes of Zhao Gongzi’s were going to continue taking up half of the closet space of a luxurious apartment located in the city area where every inch of space was paid in gold.
Zhao Gongzi is truly very annoying.
When I was in school I had gone on a few dates, but I never managed to get a second date with anyone. Zhao Gongzi was the reason.
No matter if I invited a girl or boy, he would always follow us.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before but, Zhao Gongzi’s figure at that time was a little….full.
I didn’t know what he’d experienced either, but starting from one year, he would gain weight no matter what he ate. The doctors said that it was puberty, but there was no explanation as to why the things I ate also became weight on Zhao Gongzi’s body.
No matter what, that period of time to Zhao Gongzi could not be considered a happy or bright time.
And so, he moved his rage onto me.
He couldn’t get a date, so he made sure I didn’t get a date either.
This made me quite frustrated, as not only did he eat my chocolate, he also ruined my dates.
And so, I started to invite the physical education teachers out on dates, and every time I would invite them out on runs. Finally, Zhao Gongzi slimmed down and I obtained the rank of second place for the regional youth marathon.
First place was Zhao Gongzi.
That wasn’t important, what was important was that Zhao Gongzi got a bad habit out of this. He would often stealthily follow me around, after all, by following me, he could slim down and could also get first place in marathons.
But to me, that was a nightmare.
After that, no one ever pursued me anymore, and no one accepted my pursuit either.
I was full of passion and hormones but couldn’t do anything about it, so I could only put all my energy into studying. Yet Zhao Gongzi took my place and became a very popular dating option.
And so, what should have been my originally Romantic school period suddenly darkened and closed its doors.
And therefore, that is why I despise Zhao Gongzi so much.
If only I was a bit crueler, then I would feed him chocolates every day, not bring him out for runs.
San Ge went home to pack his luggage and plan how he was going to run away from home. Zhao Gongzi and I slowly walked along the road back home.
He smugly said, “That letter was for San Ge, you were tricking me on purpose.”
I said, in a mysterious way, “I could also go sit in and listen.”
Zhao Gongzi took out a chocolate from his pocket and silently ate it.
“Don’t eat anymore.”
“What the hell’s it got to do with you?”
“These were gifted to me by Jin Xian’er. They’re really hard to buy, so I hid them. How did you find them?”
He purposefully made loud chewing sounds as he ate the chocolate. “Do you think that there’s anything you do that Laozi doesn’t know about?”
If he was so capable, then how come he didn’t know that I was going to tell Wu Ge that I didn’t want to elope back then?
I love Wu Ge’s unrestrained and dapper, sophisticated nature, but it’s fine to just observe from afar. I’m still a person that still has to go to work the next day after all, and all of my curious wanderer’s spirit had been used up before the age of 10. What’s more, I never wanted to live that type of lifestyle again. Truthfully I had never wanted to have that type of life, and that’s why I’ve always sincerely been grateful towards Master Zhao Si.
But I wasn’t going to tell Zhao Gongzi that. After all, Wu Ge hadn’t even wanted to elope with me in the first place, how mortifying.
Zhao Gongzi took out another chocolate from his pocket, then smugly placed half of it in his mouth, and while biting on to it, he asked me if I wanted to have the other half.
Zhao Gongzi, annoying.
Rinrin: Ah, the bad mini-arc is coming….sighs, *braces self
Akane: A jelly tsundere and a reserved prideful guy. *Bracing myself for the ride.*
