Similar to the previous few days, there were many mutants inside the building, but few mutants outside the building. Right now, there were six downstairs sluggishly wandering around aimlessly.
“Later, when we climb down the balcony, remember to keep your actions light. We’re not scared of being slow, just of making sounds. And make sure you have a firm grip. If you feel like you can’t hold on anymore, climb onto a balcony right away to take a break. Finally, Song Fei nodded solemnly.
Qi Yan took a deep breath, squeezed the balcony railing, then began to climb down.
The other three immediately followed.
Five minutes later, the three of them had already climbed down to the second floor. The balcony railings were like cold iron in the chilly air. In order to maintain friction, none of them had worn gloves. At this time, their hands were cold, aching, and numb, but no one had the leisure to pay much attention to it.

They were still in a trance, when suddenly, they were each hauled separately to the sides by Song Fei and Qiao Siqi! And the instant they were separated, the broken armed zombie pounced onto empty air, right where they’d originally been standing before!
Not just the broken armed zombie, but the other four were also headed their way!
Qi Yan was distracted by the four of them over there, and didn’t notice that the broken armed zombie that’d just missed them was already lunging their way again. By the time he’d noticed, it was already too late, and the broken armed zombie was just about to chomp on his face.
At this critical juncture, a splotch of bright red descended from the sky, like splashed ink.
Over the course of a single day, Qi Yan had been slapped twice in the face; first with a shoe, and then with a fan.
However, the former was just embarrassing, while the latter was embarrassment infused with a truly wondrous sensation that defied description— the sturdy, but thin red silk could block teeth, but couldn’t block out touch. With this second attack, Zhou Yilu had been much steadier, although a discomfiting, conflicted feeling still lingered on inside his heart.
The broken armed zombie collapsed to the ground, but the four zombies that’d been making their way back had already arrived on the scene!
The two of them didn’t dare to continue fighting anymore, and scampered away, but unexpectedly, just a few steps away, ran right into Song Fei and Qi Yan who’d turned back!
“Go back up quickly!!!”
Qi Yan’s outburst appeared to be without rhyme or reason, but Zhou Yilu and Qiao Siqi could tell from his nervous expression— there was unmistakably nothing good up ahead!
But, how could this building be easy to go back up!
It was easy to jump down from the second-floor balcony, but all of the first-floor balconies were sealed. They called them balconies, but in reality, these things were basically one with the rooms inside. They wouldn’t even know where to begin even if they did want to climb up the fully PVC window-enclosed outside!
What was even worse, was that the zombies that’d forced Qi Yan and them to return had already swarmed over, while the zombies inside the dormitories had also rushed out after hearing the sounds, a sudden zombie tide!
“This way—”
Suddenly, there came a call from diagonally above them.
The four people looked up at the same time, and saw a person standing on the balcony across from 440. A “rope” composed of several bed sheets tied together came down from a gap between his balcony balusters, its length allowing it to skim the surface of the ground, no more and no less.
In a heartbeat, the four of them practically jetted right over, as though possessed. Zhou Yilu was the fastest, Qiao Siqi, the second, Song Fei, the third, with Qi Yan bringing up the rear. Everyone became locusts on the same rope in the blink of an eye.
When Qi Yan climbed up, he was almost bitten on the leg by a zombie that’d caught up with them. Fortunately, he could kick rather swiftly.
More than twenty-or-so zombies surrounded the bottom of the “bed sheet rope”, grabbing on to the sheets countless times, then losing their grip countless times. One of them hadn’t let go yet, but after raising a foot and kicking off the ground, also lost its grip in the end. They were too stiff to be able to perform these kinds of movements that required fine motor skills, leaving them in a quandary, frenzied with anxiety.
Song Fei: “Ai, Qiao Siqi, don’t shake it, ah! ”
Qiao Siqi: “It’s not me shaking it, it’s Zhou Yilu!”
Zhou Yilu: “I have to climb up, how can I not pull hard on it, would such a soft thing not shake when I pull on it, ma!”

In the next second, that person suddenly lunged their way, and with a dong, slammed soundly into the glass on the left side. The force was so great that the spot where the glass was hit instantaneously spiderwebbed with cracks.
But, that person’s expression didn’t shift in the slightest, as though incapable of feeling any pain.
No, that wasn’t a person at all.

hahaha i’m glad someone else noticed that tidbit too. otherwise, from ch3 sports meet, he participated in the 10k and managed to run that fast so him being last (after Song Fei of all ppl lol!!) was a cute lil detail i think the author-dada meant to slip in there~
