Voice Of Another ChanceChapter 60

Asakura felt his brain buzzing from the loud noise, but even so, his ears swiftly picked up Sato’s name through all that shouting. Then he instantly recognized the booming voice that was coming from the other side of the phone.

It was Muro and the man was gasping for breath while yelling at the top of his lungs. jI5dE3

“BIG BROTHER RYUU, A CAR JUST PULLED OVER AND SOMEONE SNATCHED IMAMURA-SAMA! HURRY UP AND COME HERE!”

“Where are you right now?” Asakura’s voice was trembling with anger.

“WE’RE AT… AT…”

Muro stopped speaking for a second, then his voice boomed once more, almost splitting Asakura’s brain in half, but this time the man was addressing someone beside him.  CpANXV

“SHUN, WHERE THE HELL ARE WE RIGHT NOW?! WHY CAN’T I SEE A FUCKING SIGN ANYWHERE?! IT’S LIKE WE’RE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! FUCKING HELL!”

Asakura gritted his teeth and turned the steering wheel. Once he brought the car to a stop at the side of the road, he pressed at his temple, trying to steady his erratic breathing.

“Muro… where the hell are you right now? What happened to Sato?”

There was a shuffling noise then another voice travelled through the phone. Compared to the crazed sounds from earlier, this new voice sounded like a melody to Asakura’s burning ears.

“Big Brother Ryuu, we’re currently heading outside the city. Imamura-sama was abducted and is currently inside a black van. Just a little while ago the vehicle took the road towards Kanagawa prefecture. My guess is that they are heading towards Yokohama, but I can’t be one hundred percent sure.”

Hearing all this Asakura felt his breathing stagnate. For a few seconds he couldn’t breathe or think. It was like he was dangling over a large black hole that threatened to pull him into its debts if he so much as moved a muscle.

Before he could regain full control of his body, Asakura heard another shuffling sound from the phone and the thunderous voice was heard again.

“BIG BROTHER RYUU, DON’T WORRY! WE WILL FOLLOW THEM AND MAKE SURE NOTHING HAPPENS TO IMAMURA-SAMA.” ZHcdGB

“Muro, stop your shouting!” Asakura finally snapped, feeling his ears ringing from the noise. “You stay on their tail and make sure you aren’t discovered. And have Shun send me your coordinates and the plate number. I know that once he’d seen it, he already memorized it.”

“Understood!” Shun replied in Muro’s place.

It appeared Shun had taken the phone away from Muro, who was currently driving, because he continued to speak calmly.

“We’ll try to maintain a safe distance, but we have to think of a plan B in case we lose them.” RaVKXu

“Losing them is not an option. Make sure you don’t lose their trail no matter what it takes. Did I make myself clear?”

Asakura’s voice was low and cold, like a layer of ice over a lake in winter. There was a short pause before Shun’s voice could be heard again.

Right before he ended the call Asakura addressed Shun one last sentence.

“Shun, just make sure he doesn’t overdo it. Worst case scenario, you take the wheel. I know you still aren’t comfortable with driving but it’s better than having Muro cause an accident in his crazed state.” wtAdkj

“En. Understood.” Shun said briskly, then added with a slight exasperation. “Don’t worry, boss, he still knows how to control his temper. It’s just his mouth that’s running wild.”

“MY MOUTH… I WISH MY MOUTH COULD MOVE THESE IDIOTS FASTER! LOOK AT THEM… ARE THEY FUCKING TURTLES OR SNAILS ON THE ROAD. WHAT…”

Asakura ended the call, cutting Muro’s cursing short. His headache was becoming worse.

As soon as there was silence inside the car, panic started to rise inside Asakura’s chest, like a tidal wave taking over the shore. His limbs became cold in an instant and he began trembling. 5rDz3Y

Before his mind became even more clouded by fear, Asakura decidedly clutched the phone tighter in his hands and dialed a number.

After two rings a man answered the phone.

The voice on the other end sounded lazy, almost bored to death. But Asakura could still pick up a strange hint of nervousness in between the man’s breaths.”

“Oh, so you know already?” L6SBgp

Without wasting any more time, Asakura took a deep breath and cut to the chase.

“Tell me, is it them?”

“Hmmm, there is no proof that the Omura family is involved in Sato-kun’s kidnapping.”

“There is no way you don’t know. Is it them?” Asakura insisted. jg73Q

While speaking, Asakura’s voice was low and dangerous. His tone held evident traces of murderous intent. However, his uncle didn’t even bat an eye. The man even chuckled and sighed with relish.

“My dear boy, why are you so nervous? Just stay calm and let your dear old uncle take care of this matter.”

“You know that’s impossible.” Asakura retorted instantly, his tone dripping with impatience.

“You truly are a masterpiece.”  oT8wN

Shibata seemed to shake his head while sighing. After a short pause he continued to speak, his tone changing subtly towards a more serious note.

“Do you really care that much about that person?”

“Do you even need to ask that?”

“Then, are you willing to sacrifice your own life for him?” r6ANla

Asakura didn’t reply. He almost scoffed at the stupidity of that question. Of course he would do anything to rescue Sato. There was nothing else more important in his life apart from that one person, not even his own life.

As though he could hear the answer from his nephew’s silence, Shibata let out a long sigh.

Ultimately, he picked up his voice, and gave Asakura a startling bit of information.

“Earlier this week I received news that the youngest member of the Omura’s secondary branch has started to exhibit rather suspicious behavior.” za0ub

“What does that mean?”

“The young man kept visiting companies which were owned by his father’s clients. Among those, there was also an entertainment agency, one you are most familiar with.”

“HoshiAkari Entertainment… Sato’s agency.”

The moment this information entered his brain, Asakura felt his blood turning chilling cold, as if he was injected with liquid ice. If what his uncle just said was indeed true, then that meant the person who took Sato had already made ample preparations to catch his lover unguarded. a5QHqb

“Do you know where they are taking him?” Asakura asked suddenly, trying his hardest to ignore the choking sensation that was rising in his throat.

“Well, that’s the annoying part.” Shibata clicked his tongue. “We were on their tail a few moments ago, but it appears the men employed by the young master are quite smart. As soon as they left the city limits, they changed their initial route. They even used a decoy car to lure us into the wrong direction. My men are still trying to pick up their trail.”

“Good.”

“Son, have you lost your marbles?” Shibata sounded sincerely astonished. “Have you gone mad with grief or something? How can you say losing the kidnappers is good? Even I am not so daring as to declare that so openly.” C01uEL

“It’s good because it means I have one up on you.” Asakura showed a dangerous smile, one that would have frozen the hearts of any man who’d witness it.

“My boy, I really don’t understand you. If you’re bragging, at least do so in a way that makes sense.” Shibata snapped, showing a rare trace of impatience.

In response to his uncle’s words, Asakura merely chuckled, then spoke in an undertone.

“Those two idiots you’ve sent back to me are following their car. I guess after this matter is settled I should reconsider taking them under my wing again. Clearly you are wasting their talents, uncle.” XyUdER

Hearing his answer, Shibata let out a heartfelt laugh.

“At last! The dumb and dumber duo is finally doing something right. After this whole mess is cleared up, please make sure to take them out of my hand, will you? They’ve brought on more trouble than a pair of women during a matching season. Since they wanted to be with you so badly, I hope they would annoy you to death, just as they’ve done to me.”

“I am hanging up now.” Asakura declared emotionlessly.

He was just about to press the button, when Shibata’s voice travelled to his ear. C2UiMn

“This is a matter involving the secondary branch. Are you sure it’s worth it to get pulled back in this shitty mess? Once you are exposed, they won’t let you off so easily in the future.”

Asakura snorted coldly in response.

A moment later, he raised his arm to clutch the steering wheel with his free hand, his fingers gripping the object so tightly that his knuckles instantly turned while. When he spoke, his voice was even and cold. Like the surface of a frozen lake protecting its debts, nothing could penetrate Asakura’s current demeanor.

“It doesn’t matter whether they are the second branch or even the main branch. As long as they so much as scratch one finger on Sato’s hands, there will be hell to pay. I don’t care what stand the Ikemoto family takes, I will deal with those bastards myself.” czKErJ

“So be it then.” Shibata said simply, then continued coldly. “Just make sure you don’t drag the family into something unsightly.”

As soon the last words fell, the conversation ended and Asakura could only hear the dull beep, indicating the call had been dropped.

“Damned old man!” Asakura gritted out, squeezing the steering wheel even tighter.
