Voice Of Another ChanceChapter 61

Soon Asakura felt his fingers protesting, but despite feeling pain, he didn’t lessen the pressure. As though that pain was the only thing helping him maintain a clear head, Asakura clung to it like a drowning man. Otherwise, he feared that he would immediately fall into despair or succumb to the rising panic.

He had to stay strong. He couldn’t afford to lose Sato, not now, not ever. 9YPpjw

Meanwhile, his uncle Shibata was dealing with his own difficulties.

In order for a parent to allow the child room to grow, he had to first create a feeling of helplessness, before creating an illusion of freedom. Making the child think he is the one solving the problem by himself would eventually help him develop his confidence and further support his growth as a person.

That’s what he initially thought. But now that he was put in this kind of situation, how could Shibata simply ignore it? How could he just take his hands off things and let Asakura find danger by himself?

Staring at the phone, Shibata gritted his teeth. He began muttering to himself, just like those old people he used to see around the city. I4R1Q2

“Ryuu my boy you’ve grown up so well. There’s not much I can do for you now. But even if that is true, an old tiger can still bite. So, let this old uncle of yours lend you his power one last time.”

After saying that, he turned his head towards the door and called out for his secretary.

“What can I do for you, sir?” his secretary bowed respectfully.

“Get the boys at the club ready. Tell them to prepare for a fight. Once I have the location, I will send it to their leader.”

“Understood.” The secretary dipped his head in acknowledgment.

When he was about to walk out the door, the man stopped and turned to his boss once more.

“Sir, should I tell them to prepare weapons as well?”

Shibata was silent for a moment, before nodding his head slowly.  EGYN x

“It might get to an all out war with the Omuras, so better be prepared. The Ikemotos always have each other’s backs, even when we dislike each other to death.” Shibata said grimly.

Then, as if he thought of something else, the middle-aged Shibata let out a long, helpless sigh.

“You go with them as well. Make sure that kid doesn’t do anything stupid. He’s been reckless ever since he was young, but now that his reverse scale has been poked, heaven knows what he might do.”

“Yes, sir.” the secretary bowed one last time and left in a hurry.  UMldwu

As Shibata stared at his and his brother’s youthful faces, he was suddenly hit by an inexplicable foreboding feeling.

“Since your son resembles me from back then, does that mean my son will be like you in the future… brother?”  YhlSd9

Shibata directed the question at the portrait.

But, as expected, no one could answer him. After all, who could say for sure what the fate of his family would be in future years. That was something between heaven and themselves.

While both uncle and nephew planned on how to fight off the enemies, Sato was about to have a face off with those said enemies.  AtHQcZ

Sato suddenly felt a stinging sensation coming from his arms. It made him scrunch up his face in discomfort. He tried to open his eyes, but his eyelids felt heavy as if they were made of lead.

With much difficulty, he eventually managed to open his eyes just a notch. His brain felt sluggish, as though he had just woken up from a deep sleep.

As soon as his eyes were able to focus, though, Sato was hit by an eerie sight.

The place he had been brought to looked like a deserted warehouse. Based on the fact that he couldn’t see the end of it, Sato guessed it must have been a pretty big repository for merchandise. Probably something similar to the places used by the big import-export companies. 8PozrE

Most of the windows along the walls were barred with wooden planks. But those didn’t completely seal the openings, therefore allowing for a few strands of artificial light to slip inside. However, even those were too few and much too feeble to light the whole place up.

Outside it seemed to have gotten darker. The sun probably set a long time ago. As a consequence, the entire space looked dark and gloomy.

There was also a slight damp feeling in the air and, for a second, Sato thought he smelled a salty scent.

‘Where am I?’ he thought dazedly.  9tLebw

Just when he wanted to move, he felt his arms aching.

The sharp feeling of pain coursing from his shoulders to the tip of his fingers woke Sato up completely. With a jolt, he instantly became alert. After straightening his back a little, he gave his surroundings another careful look.

It appeared that he was bound by a chair. Long, thick ropes snaked around his hands and arms, tying him to the backrest of the chair, while his feet were left free.

Since he was tied up like that, Sato couldn’t see behind him at all. He could only move his head to glance in front and a little to the sides.  IlqTj

There was no one around him, but, for some reason, Sato could feel a sinister presence close by.

Once again, he tried to move, but it was impossible to shift even a single muscle of his arms.

When another wave of hot pain washed over him, Sato couldn’t help but groan loudly.

Just then, a gruff voice suddenly rang from somewhere behind him.  t rkxH

“Boss, he’s awake!”

Following that, a second voice came, echoing loudly inside the large space.

“Good morning, sleeping beauty. Since you took so long to sober up, I was beginning to worry that you would need a prince’s kiss to wake up.” the voice drawled coldly. Sato could even hear a light smirk in the man’s tone.

A second later, the owner of that voice appeared in front of Sato, staring at him from above.  Edl5Sg

Even with the dim light, the young man instantly recognized the burgundy colored suit. Then, looking up from the man’s clothes to his face, Sato could see the person’s expression turning into a cruel grin.

An ominous feeling burst inside Sato’s chest.

Even so, he decided to take the bull by its horns and speak first.

“I might be mistaken, Director Omura, but I don’t believe this is the restaurant. Could you have made a mistake?” Sato inquired codly. U0cT7K

The man burst into laughter. The sound was mirthless and savage, causing Sato’s skin to break into goosebumps .

At this point, he would have been really stupid not to understand what was going on.

It was clear that this person had made use of his position in order to get close to Sato. Nevertheless, if the purpose was just to kidnap Sato for his own personal gain, or if there was something else going on, Sato didn’t know.

Then, he suddenly thought of Asakura and his chest twinged painfully.  9DQAtl

By now his lover should have noticed his disappearance. Was he angry or upset? Was he worried and trying to look for him?

Just then, Sato remembered the conversation he had with Asakura a while back.

What if… what if all this had to do with Asakura? What if this person was simply using Sato to get to Asakura?

As soon as this idea creeped inside his mind, Sato felt a chilling sensation. His body went cold as though he had been submerged in icy cold water. XO6CMW

With each thought that came to his mind, Sato could feel his breath gradually becoming more disorderly, until he finally couldn’t breathe properly anymore. His wildly beating heart was almost on the verge of popping out of his chest from panic and his vision blurred.

“Do you finally realize the situation you are in?” Director Omura asked mockingly.

All this time, his eyes had been watching Sato attentively. Like a predator staring at its prey right before attacking, his gaze had never once left Sato’s face.

The moment Sato’s expression changed, Director Omura felt satisfied. He grinned like a hungry wolf in front of a juicy prey. TEhamw

Sato breathed out with difficulty, trying to focus his senses on the person standing in front of him.

“Why are you doing this?” he asked feebly.

“Do I really need a reason?” Director Omura tilted his head to one side, as if really pondering over the question.

“No one does this kind of thing without a reason. Director Omura, I am not an idiot.”  70YiNs

After regaining a bit of his composure, Sato gritted his teeth and stared back at the other man. With his eyes slightly narrowed and his lips pressed together he looked like a cornered animal ready to make one last stand in order to escape.

“Tell me why are you doing this.” he demanded.

“I want you to work for me. Join my company.” Director Omura suddenly blurted out.
