Voice Of Another ChanceChapter 59

Sato was rendered mute by this display of affection. He feared that Asakura would be upset if he kept bickering about it, so he swallowed back his words of refusal. After all, what were a few clothes compared to his lover’s happiness? Also, he had to admit that the idea of wearing matching outfits with his boyfriend sounded rather appealing to him.

So, without much fuss, Sato readily agreed to go shopping after his second day of filming.  DY2K7d

Unexpectedly, the Director of AmaiMizu showed up mid-shooting. He tried to be lowkey by taking the back door and retreating silently to one corner, but as soon as one of the staff members noticed him, chaos descended.

Having the big boss personally witness the promotional video being recorded was too much stress inducing. Their little hearts couldn’t help but tremble in apprehension, especially those who worked directly for the company. They all knew just how fussy and mean that person could be.

For some reason, witnessing those staff becoming tense, even the ones who didn’t know the Director still began to feel anxious. After all, their future workplace might depend on this current job. GFdzvZ

Soon, this rigid atmosphere ultimately reached Sato as well. He was just about to take a break before starting to film a new section of the video, when he unexpectedly noticed the newcomer. He glanced in that direction and his eyes widened.

Next to the producer stood a man dressed in a handsome, burgundy colored business suit. The white collar shirt wasn’t buttoned all the way up and he wasn’t wearing a tie. The last two buttons of the shirt were undone and the lapels spread apart, leaving the base of his neck and a large part of his collarbone exposed.

The man was tall, his body rather on the muscular side. His entire being oozed an unruly aura, one that could intimidate people with just one look.

Looking closely, Sato thought that he seemed more like a rebellious young master from some rich family, than a company Director. Perhaps his opinion had become too biased after knowing Asakura, but in his eyes that was how a proper Director should look like: handsome, confident and manly. Granted, Asakura could also be a proper hooligan as well, but that was something only the two of them knew.

As soon as he thought of his lover’s wild side, Sato felt his cheeks grow warm. He raised a hand to his face and, sure enough, his skin felt hot to the touch. He could bet his entire career that he was currently blushing like a high school girl thinking of her crush.

As though he could pick up on Sato’s flustered state, AmaiMizu’s Director suddenly turned to look at him. His eyes locked onto Sato’s figure from afar, giving him a careful once-over, before his eyes finally drifted away. He continued to speak with the producer as if he hadn’t even paused.

A short while later, Sato’s break was over and he resumed his work. The filming went on for almost an hour after that.

However, it appeared that, despite seeming unaware, the Director had actually noticed Sato. Even before the young man had reached them, the Director swiftly turned his head, looking straight into Sato’s eyes as if by chance. When he saw Sato, his eyebrows rose slightly and he let out a sound of surprise.

“Imamura-san, it’s truly an honor to finally meet you.”

“Ah, Sato-kun you’re back.” His manager quickly turned towards him, showing an excited expression. “Director Omura was just telling me that he would like to invite you out for dinner.”

Sato was surprised and his eyes stared subtly at the tall man in front of him. Q2DiNV

“Mh, thank you very much for your invitation, Director Omura, but I’m afraid I’ll have to decline.”

At first, Sato was afraid that the man would feel insulted. After all, he was a company’s Director while Sato was merely a small actor.

To his surprise, though, this Director Omura didn’t seem too upset by the rejection. If anything, he appeared slightly regretful.

“Is today not a good time?” He asked, the corners of his lips pulling downward. IxNM2t

“I’m afraid not.” Sato replied honestly. He gave the man a candid smile, while continuing to explain. “You see, I’ve already made plans with someone else. I hope Director Omura will be so kind as to understand my difficulty.”

The man nodded slowly as if agreeing with Sato’s words.

Just when Sato was about to breathe out in relief, he heard the man say something unexpected.

“Well, if it’s dinner we’re talking about, why not have that person join us as well? If I don’t mind this arrangement, I’m pretty sure that person won’t have anything against it either. I already have a table booked at a restaurant and it would be a shame having to eat by myself.” ptq HN

At this point, Sato really didn’t know what to do. If he kept refusing, he felt that Director Omura might really feel insulted. But if he accepted the dinner invitation, even dragging Asakura with him, wouldn’t Asakura be upset? After all, they had planned to have a date tonight, just the two of them, with dinner before going shopping.

After going back and forth between his choices, Sato ultimately decided to compromise. He made some calculations inside his head and assumed that, if he sent Asakura a message while on the way to the restaurant, he could catch him before the man would reach the studio.

As such, Sato put on his most candid, yet professional smile, and finally addressed Director Omura.

“Then I shall trouble you, Director. It would be a pleasure to have dinner with you.” RWydNI

“Oh no, the pleasure will be all mine.” Director Omura replied, his lips curving into a smile.

Sato watched the man’s expression change. He suddenly had a nagging feeling that something was off about that person’s smile, but before he could think about it more, he heard Director Omura’s voice coming from next to him.

“Shall we go then?” the Director asked in a low voice, gesturing for Sato to walk ahead.

Sato quickly put everything else at the back of his mind and began walking towards the exit. His manager followed the two, but just until the parking lot.  wFLqRv

Since Director Omura had made such a show of inviting Sato for a private dinner, the manager, being a professional and reading the underlying messages, decided to take the car back by himself, leaving Sato to ride with Director Omura.

As he did this, the well-trained manager didn’t feel an ounce of guilt. It wasn’t unusual for big clients to share dinners with actors or models after the jobs were done. Also, Director Kyota never told him to stop Sato from networking like this.

Anyway, the two wouldn’t even be alone for a long while, just until they reached the restaurant. Asakura would also arrive there soon, so it shouldn’t matter if Sato was left alone with Director Omura for this short while.

That same evening, Asakura was driving his car, heading towards the city limits. He had been out for a business dinner and was now on his way to pick Sato up from the studio. Since this was the second and last day of working for AmaiMizu’s promotional campaign, Asakura planned to arrive there before the whole thing ended and wait for Sato backstage.

When he reached a red light, Asakura stepped on the brakes, casually glancing at the time. It was barely 6 p.m. Previously when they spoke on the phone, Sato said he would finish his job in an hour.

Thus, Asakura happily concluded that he had enough time to reach the destination and, if he was lucky enough, be able to catch Sato while filming under the bright lights. Thinking about his beautiful lover, showing his charms in front of the cameras, Asakura felt his heart itch. His eyes flashed and he involuntarily licked his lips.

Right at that moment, his phone unexpectedly rang. Glancing at the screen, Asakura saw it was an unknown caller. Not wanting to deal with any dubious strangers, he threw the phone onto the seat next to him and ignored it. The object kept vibrating several more times before remaining quiet for a while. Asakura thought the person would eventually give up, but to his annoyance, the phone started to ring a second and then a third time. AjVSmN

For a moment, Asakura thought that maybe it was someone from the company, but he couldn’t be too sure. After all, he didn’t have everyone’s phone numbers saved, just the Directors’ and higher Managers’. Nevertheless, he couldn’t help it if someone in a lower position called him because of an emergency.

Frowning and cursing under his breath, Asakura eventually decided to pick up the phone and see who was calling him so insistently.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

The moment he pressed the green button, a loud voice burst his eardrums like a sledgehammer.

“BIG BROTHER! THERE IS AN EMERGENCY! HURRY UP AND COME HERE! SOMETHING HAPPENED TO… TO IMAMURA-SAMA!” 9ldvd6

A/N: Again, sorry for delaying this chapter. I am finally more satisfied with how it turned out after editing. Though, not entirely, I admit. Still, I hope you will enjoy :blobdizzy:

See you all next weekend! Until then, wish you a wonderful week ahead! :blobsmilehappyeyes:
