  1. If the southeast King is dead, that means they can go back to the capital!

    Thanks for the chapter!

  2. Thank you so much Dan-dan and Jules!! 😊💛❤🧡

(some rants below, pls don’t mind me 😅)

I don’t really like Xiao Shao’s stereotypical point of view of women, tho. I do understand where he was coming from giving the states women were in in the era, like getting trapped in the estate without power like Hanzhang’s mother, getting murdered(?) like his own mother, or even getting a bit of power and turned evil like the marchioness and the empress. But, really, not every woman was born with a faint of heart, my boy. If they were to get proper education and martial arts lessons like you boys did, they would also do well in battle fields and not turn into some ‘shiveling’ mess like you think. Look at Ruo Yi, for example. Yeah, I know why Shao would think that, buuut sigh 😆 a bit hard to take in. S till love every boy character here as always, especially, ShaoShao and sweet Jun Qing!!

Annnnd awwww poor little Xiao Huang got turned into a footrest. Lol 🤣 so cute!

    • glad i am not the only one who thought so ! i was like “woah there, easy with the misogyny dude”

i don’t know why is it necessary for danmei to be so damn misogynistic like why do they hate women so much 😐

      • I also think that danmei has a lot to improve on in terms of not just depicting every woman as weak/evil/conspiring/white lotus but I think for JS specifically, all the key women in his life caused his demise. From his step-mother Empress to all 3 of his wives who betrayed him, he has this deep seated resentment. Perhaps we will see a resolution to that later but currently I am enjoying GRY as a strong female character :3

        • And I also think even if “his women” isn’t as faint of heart and shivelling mess, as a prince, if the feeling isn’t as strong as JS and MHZ, those kind of women really can only appears as crying mess either on his bedside or his bed end. They will be apprehensive and maintain proper distance due to propriety, unlike MHZ that is connected and occupied his heart.

Yeah, GRY is such a strong female character that isn’t like any ancient women of high background at all (merchant family)! But that is because she had lost everything and risking even if she died, she had to die with her enemy. I think JS isn’t stereotyping anything, since what he think is what it is at his time and what the women there believe too (This far and there is no mention of female in the troop. They simply can’t enlist). GRY too will live like them if not for her family massacre. Remember when she appeared, she didn’t know martial arts. After all, rather than every woman having their family massacred and being strong to head to death, I believe women at that time prefered to be dainty and delicate doing battle in the back courtyard 🤷‍♀️. The irony is that, when people questioning the issue of stereotyping, I felt like due to different of times and eras, it is the people that questioned that is the one doing stereotyping (since the benchmark is the current age and you know, ideal)?

          • Personally I think that regardless of the time or era, there will be people of any gender with a variety of personalities and goals. It’s just a matter whether they fit into the society they live in. For example, let’s look at Jing Shao. He’s headstrong, aggressive, and likes fighting. As a military commander those traits are virtues. If he had been born a princess they would’ve been faults that needed to be corrected.

    • THANK YOU!, I was going to point that one too, since the beginning ML has been spouting some serious misogyny idiocy, and while doing so he treats MC as some damsel, also refusing to be on the bottom and so on. Like wtf?! that is why I liked so much the guy who made his husband dress in pink but he in exchange got to make it worth while XD. Even when the novel is good, its annoying (and to made things worse he KNOWS RY who is such a badass woman)

      • How can it be a misogyny when he literally experienced every betrayal from those women who claimed to love him to gain his favor? It’s just not long ago he was reborn and before that MHZ literally died in his arms so it’s justified that he pampered him. And his view on women? Don’t forget he loved women from previous life and even stand with them until he lost everything and they turned back. He was referring to his concubines and they just aged back, it didn’t mean they changed attitudes too. They’re the same as the previous life who will leave him if something happens. Remember in previous life, he fight for the throne but didn’t hurt any women. He was hurt by them.
  3. Ooh, things are heating up!! What I’m most curious about is what will happen after the war – that will be the end of his future memories, so looking forward to that!

  5. I kept thinking he wanted to celebrate their new year and then I suddenly remember his plan to push the bro-in-law into the pond on the coldest day… dude is so petty I aspire to be him ahahaha

    • He’s damned determined to make sure that fat bastard takes a mid-winter dip for almost killing his princess.

  6. Thank you so much for the chapter, cant wait to see what happens next.

  7. If he had married a woman, they would probably just be sniveling right now; how would they be able to hold him like this and let him rely on them?

I’m just gonna pretend this was never included in the text. Hmp!

  8. Sometimes it’s irritating to read comments that literally shows how little they comprehend the story. They just read the story for enjoyment but didn’t actually understand the meaning, the emotions behind and they just without understanding the reasons. Unless the story really sucks then it’s okay. But if they didn’t know how to read between the lines they must not comment. They put comments just for the sake of commenting and venting but didn’t actually understand anything. They just want the fluffy things and s*xual content not the whole picture. They ruins the mood of a good story.

    • Ikr? This story is set on ancient times and they want it to be feminist (and I say that as a feminist myself). They love anachronism, always judging ancient times from a modern view. Even if this story absolutely ignored the social reality of that time, point stays that women aren’t saint, some women are evil assholes who only think about themselves. We are humans just like everyone else, not some untouchable beings. If you want to read stories that is set during ancient times with charactets from ancient times, you have to be ready do deal with ancient views of life. The reality that women at that times faced sexism even worse than nowadays won’t change just because you don’t want people to write about it without them having to make a whole arc about how it’s wrong. This work is not centered on criticizing the hardships women went through, those hardships are just of the world building, bacuse they were part of the world in said times.

Jing Shao isn’t sexist. He views women by the way the women around him acted. On his first life, he treated his second wife and his concubines really well, but they still left him behind when he needed them, and one of them even gave part of the information that got him accused of treason. The empress, who was supposed to treat him like a son, actively makes things harder to him and his brother. She made him mary another man because she didn’t want him to inherit the throne, and when they were children, after his mother died and the new empress anscended to the throne, she sent snaks to her biological children and left him and his brother having to study with an empty stomch while they had to see their younger brother eat the snacks the empress sent him. The only good experience he had with women was his own mother. He doesn’t view women as lesser for the sake of being women. He does so because the women he was supposed to trust always turned their back on him. “If he had married a woman, they would probably just be sniveling right now; how would they be able to hold him like this and let him rely on them?” Of course he thinks that, becuse that’s literally what his previous second wife and concubines used to do. They made the situation about themselves in order to come out as a poor little thing who cared about him so much. None of them were able to set aside their quest of receiving favor for even a second in order to truly support him (which is ironic, ’cause that’s the one thing they could have done that would have gained them his favour). So yes, of course he think that if his wanfei was a women, he wouldn’t have been able to rely on them. Believe it or not, your views on people aren’t something you are born it, it’s something constructed by your life experiences. If most women around him act like that, he isn’t going to think “Well, guess I’m just unlucky and attract all the bad women from the capital”.
