Translator's Note

Used by storytellers to gain people’s attention or punctuate a point in the story. Looks like this:

Translator's Note

Aka Gong Wei

Translator's Note

Aka Yuchi Rui

Translator's Note

If you recall, Xu Shuangtze does not have a ‘late wife’ and the portrait is actually of Gong Wei…

Translator's Note

Not actually. He’s just a bit freaked out.

Translator's Note

Most likely the one he gave Gong Wei in chapter 9.2.

  1. The song at the end did add a new layer of feels thank you for the pain, 👌

I imagine it’d be from XST ‘s pov towards GW and that does wonders to help understand what he’s feeling– wait.

Did he realise GW was his “wife” after he had died?

Huh, imagine killing the love of your life by accident without even realising that he was the person in your heart all along, and then not even being able to keep his corpse (though, I wonder what they meant by “it was already damaged by that time”, just wtf did XST do??)

..and here I thought wangxian was angsty enough in how they kept misinterpreting each other in the beginning.

(does that mean our gong will be as assertive/proactive as LWJ when he discovers the true though? 🤔)

Ah, guess we’ll have our answers in due time, thank you for the chapter!

    • Yes, I imagined it from XST’s pov too! Yes, I think he did realise GW was the ‘wife’… after all, he does have the portrait of ‘her’ (GW) on the wall and GW is wearing wedding clothes. He painted it after GW’s death… 😥 I’m not crying, you’re crying!I got to admit I’m curious about the corpse thing too. Speaking of WangXian vibes…this time I had strong Scum Villain vibes—where Luo Binghe kept Shen Qingqiu’s corpse and, er, hugged it and SQQ’s friends kept trying to get his body back. And SQQ is like ‘why does everybody want my body?!‘As far as the gong being ‘proactive’ there is definitely a chapter where he’s very proactive. Ahem. 😏
      • 😱😭😭😭😭😭 I had a hunch that the killing was an accident… I more felt Lan Xichen and Mengyao vibes more in them.. where Xichen accidentally stab Mengyao because of Nie Huiasang’s acting 😄🥴 and him killing GW was a mistake? but why does GW keep saying assassination attempt?🤔🤔🤔

  2. A storyteller’s no good very bad day ahaha. He is, however, still having a slightly better day than Gong Wei, who has just discovered that he’s been the most convenient shippable object for over a decade now being, yknow, Dead (and therefore unlikely to object). I can’t stop laughing, this is incredible. Gong Wei, who has never noticed anyone being into him before, no matter what kinds of signs he gets: How Did This Even Happen. Kind of a side thing, they really do keep bringing up the fox demon parallels, it feels like we’re supposed to be Looking at that re: how Gong Wei interacts with the world. Even his friend is commissioning romance stories about him, though I guess whether or not he knows the story is about Gong Wei-as-wife…well, actually it has too many details for him to not have heard it from someone who was there, probably Gong Wei himself. I love these immortals, they are so un-immortal about everything they do. Their pettiness simply cannot be contained

    Thank you for translating! <3

    • I mean, you’re not wrong though. Look at how he’s already affecting Meng Yunfei and Yuchi Xiao… I wonder if those shippers are on to something. I also think the fox demon thing is very interesting. And yeah I reckon is friend knew all about the ‘wife’ thing.
