The Black Saint is My StalkerCh67 - It’s on backward

Han Li was full of eagerness, arms around Graham’s neck as he pressed their lips together. Little mewls rang out, his shame discarded amid the muddle of demonic power that simmered in his mind. It was likely that he’d be embarrassed by his action once reason returned but at that moment, he only desired Graham’s affection.

Such affection was rather painful. The divine power that wormed its way into his belly from his throat felt like it was gnawing and clawing at his insides. The pain was hot and sharp, leaving his eyes wet and his body trembling. It hurt and left him feeling dizzy. g9zb1f

Still, he clung on, like Graham was the only light in his world. He couldn’t even tell when his humanity returned, his mind and thoughts too churned from all the holy energy. Left boneless, weak, he was but a limp little lamb that was cradled in strong arms.

It was Graham who first pulled away, opening his eyes to a dazed Han Li. The kid’s skin had returned to its normal hue, the red glow in his eyes had quelled. His lips were painted ruby, the color of Graham’s blood. More importantly, the Third Eye on his brow had disappeared as well and Graham could almost pretend that it hadn’t been there in the first place.

Han Li groaned tiredly, resting his head on Graham’s shoulder. The saint could feel the fluttering of lashes against his neck.

“Right jacket inside pocket,” Han Li sighed, too weak to move even a finger. Graham silently complied and reached inside. There was the familiar outline of something cold and metallic inside and he plucked out the magical artifact that had been customized to contain Han Li’s power. czyQEx

Graham frowned at it. But didn’t question Han Li and silently slipped the ring around the boy’s finger. That was all it took for the half-blood to become completely slack in Graham’s arms.

The saint sighed, leaning back against the cold concrete. He shuffled to toss aside a magazine that was stuck beneath him. Though he still had enough strength to carry the boy out of the semi-collapsed tunnels, Graham decided against it. It was better to wait for the commotion atop to quell a bit further before making their location known.

He basked in the tranquility and listened to Han Li breathe against his shoulder, not bothering to move their positions. He was comfortable like this, he didn’t mind.

With the company of silence and dim flickering lights, Graham found that his thoughts were particularly loud, his emotions unnecessarily stirred.

He wrapped his arms around Han Li’s waist, taking advantage of the human pillow that was so conveniently plopped into his lap.

Over the centuries, there were many things that underwent a drastic change. From the people that came and went, the civilizations that rose and fell, the landscape that shaped and reshaped, there was little of the past that remained. Especially of the past that he once held so dear.

Graham closed his eyes. The wall behind him was uncomfortable and cold. But he remained there nonetheless, shouldering all the pain and discomfort just as he always had.

Of the things he cherished that remained unchanging, there were so utterly few. His wife, who laid in eternal sleep, unconscious for the better half of two millennia, was one such undying light. But her cold, unspeaking lips were so unlike the bright sunlit princess he once knew and loved. Her chiming laughter was but a memory from a time so long, long passed. 5o4zw

Until she wasn’t.

Just like that, Han Ruyan was gone. Dead. Never to return. l4pcjx

Graham suddenly felt insurmountable fatigue. He unconsciously hugged Han Li tighter, who groaned lightly in protest.

Graham’s first trip to ancient Yang was one of his few more vivid memories of an age long passed. He had traveled the desert and grassy plains with an eager band of merchants and alchemists. At the time, Graham had little interest in their plight, being but a mercenary with his own agenda and goals. The only reason he partook in such an arduous trip was to look for the Immortal of Star Mirror Lake.

This Immortal of Star Mirror Lake was a force of nature. QPaUs

That was how the locals described her; a delicate figure with thunderous rage. Elegant in appearance but shrewd-like in personality. No one dared to challenge her serpent tongue and vile temper, not even the emperor had the means to quell her reign of terror.

But Han Ruyan’s reign was one over Star Mirror Lake, a location so remote that normal people couldn’t even reach, lest they risked death. And thus, this tyrant immortal was left to her own devices, left to simmer in her rumored anger in her eternal seclusion atop Mt. Xingjing, where the majestic Star Mirror Lake rested.

Graham, being both ignorant and stubborn, had scaled the mountain against all advice and warnings.

The locals had been horrified by his plans, their faces ghastly as they exclaimed, “The Immortal of Star Mirror Lakes hates people, especially men!” KlNhTz

He did not listen, climbing the tall mountain by his lonesome where he was met with a myriad of mythical beasts and magical traps.

It was a miracle that he hadn’t died then and there. And by the time he had arrived at the mountain’s peak, he was but a haggled mess. His sword had been reduced to a walking stick, which he used to shoulder his weight. His clothes, though fine in make, had seen better days. They hadn’t been washed for at least a fortnight and the seams were falling apart. His hair was not much better. Dark tresses, long and greasy, curled around a bearded face and fell over his shoulders.

In contrast, the Immortal of Star Mirror Lake was no different than a fairy. She was donned in a flowing white dress with pink blossoms sewn into the hem. Her sleeves were pink and the sheer silken coat she wore atop was icy blue in color. Though her hair was styled simply, it did not distract from her ethereal elegance. The only thing that marred her perfect, goddess-like appearance was her expression.

It was one of avid disgust. 1UPoSH

An ivory fan hid little of her scowl as she trembled and pointed at the beggar of a man at her doorsteps.

“Who beneath the heavenly skies dares to leave this smelly bear at my gates!? Shoo, shoo! I don’t have any food for you here, I am a vegetarian!”

“…” Graham was much too exhausted to come up with a witty response. In fact, when he tried to open his mouth, he fell right over, collapsed right in front of her gate.

Han Ruyan shrieked in dismay, rambling on a string of curses. 2fTZV5

Annoying and uncouth, Graham thought as he fell asleep right there and then.

When he woke up, he’d been unceremoniously dumped into the lake with his clothes and all. He should have drowned, probably, but the lake had some sort of magical property so that those pure of heart would float.

Graham floated, much to Han Ruyan’s chagrin. She did not hide her disappointment, with a scowl present on her face. “Before you speak to me, or even look at me, wash and make yourself decent!”

“…” Graham glared at her pointedly, as if to challenge her statement. He’d been looking at her this entire time already. hleaDV

With a huff, the Immortal of Star Mirror Lake left in a hurry, leaving Graham to his own devices.

It was then that Graham thought he would never be able to get along with this temperamental, boorish lady.

That was fine, he did not come all this way to make friends after all. So Graham sucked up his complaints and did as she told, taking his time to wash and groom himself. Though his clothes were wet and probably beyond saving, the Immortal of Star Mirror Lake had so generously left him a set of pristine white robes.

…robes that Graham had no idea how to put on. rlM4qB

“…” It sufficed to say that he tried his best, only his best wasn’t good enough.

Because after he entered the building from where he saw the Immortal of Star Mirror Lake disappear into, he was met with disapproval. Han Ruyan promptly spat out her tea when she set her eyes on him, horrified with how he was wearing the hanfu.

“It’s on backward, you imbecile!” she hissed at him.

“It’s on,” Graham deadpanned. Nothing (too) inappropriate was showing so he didn’t understand what the big problem was. tnW3J0

“Backward!” she yelled again, like some sort of shrieking monkey, pointing at the exit with her fan. It was obvious that she wanted him to fix his appearance without her help but wasn’t going to offer any hints on how.

It was the toughest challenge that Graham had yet to face on Mt. Xingjing, more so than the mythical beasts and the magical traps. He had gone to fix his clothes, returned, only to get yelled at again. This process repeated itself at least twenty times before Han Ruyan finally deemed him presentable.

By then he had mentally dubbed her as completely insufferable.

When he sat down at the table opposite her, he has simply expected her to yell at him about his manners. yW9gk6

She spoke before he could even introduce himself. “I do not care if you’re some renowned lord from foreign lands. Just so you know, I care not to take disciples! So after you drink this tea with me, you can leave.”

Who beneath the heavens was the arrogant woman? And why did she assume that Graham wanted to be her disciple?

Maintaining his ever-stoic visage, he slapped his hand on the table and demanded, “Enchant this ring for me.”

Han Ruyan had been so offended that her face turned white before going red. “As if!” K1Ihx5
