Story of Another UsCh9 - Freaky

Sebi sat up straight, his eyes trained on the screen where the teams were shown.

“The first team who takes the most Player Cores in twenty minutes will win,” the robotic voice continued. “Same rules as a formal tournament applies. Attempts of murder and absolute murder are forbidden and will warrant proper punishment. Mind control is only allowed for a maximum of two minutes throughout the game and with a minimum of one person at a time, tracked by the Player Cores and will automatically block off the ability once the time is consumed. Those with non-offensive type abilities are allowed to use weapons with the approval of the Hexagon Committee.  From Team Fulminare, Player Aquila is allowed a taser glove that paralyzes targets with a touch. Player Alvarez as a technopath is allowed to bring in a mechanical suit approved by the Committee, featuring flight and low-level energy blasts. Team Praesto is not qualified for any weapon, as every member has an offensive ability. “ ILh0op

The robot voice drawled on, making  Sebi a bit impatient.

“…Good, I came just in time before it starts.”

Sebi jolted and turned to the side, his wide eyes met with smiling dark brown eyes.

“Hey,” Light grinned at him with a wave of his hand. kRUqQ

“You’re here to watch Necomir?” Sebi suspiciously said.

The other rolled his eyes. “What’s so special about him? His teammates are more interesting to watch.”

Sebi narrowed his eyes, unsure if he should be satisfied that Light didn’t have any interest in Necomir or be offended that he insulted him.

Before Sebi could decide which, the robot voice finally finished.

“Let the Hexagon Tournament begin!” it boomed.

Sebi scooted his butt over the edge of his seat and watched attentively.

Necomir quickly rushed towards a woman with poofy red hair, the name “Victoria King” appearing on the screens. She grinned at him as her hands lit up with red light, the light reflecting in her own eyes and giving her an intimidating, demonic look. It gave Sebi the mental image of her opponents just crying back into their mother’s wombs.

“Arrogant as always, Aquila!” Victoria laughed out loud, her voice echoing through the speakers. She lifted her hands and shot a burst of energy at Necomir, who was quick to dodge it then continued to run towards her like a jaguar. bu9yzJ

“There he goes,” Light sniggered. “That’s Necomir’s freak ability. He’s too damn overpowering.”

Sebi’s eyes glimmered as he watched Necomir rapidly move around.  Aside from his clairvoyance, Necomir had to rely greatly on his own skills when competing in the Hexagon Tournament’s teams category, since there’s always the possibility of huge disparities between teams’ ability arsenal and teamwork was the most important element. Humans in this universe were already quite sturdy, with bodies that have strength and durability far greater than humans in ancient times. Their lifespan also extended tremendously by a maximum of two hundred years. Necomir obviously went through a lot of training, being able to move with an agility and speed that can evenly match with any human with offensive abilities.

Watching him made Sebi’s admiration for him to increase exponentially. Necomir didn’t look like he was being bullied at all. Victoria was definitely a force to be reckoned with, each of the blasts from her hands packing with so much energy that Sebi even thought if he was the one in front of her and he had the same ability as Necomir, he definitely wouldn’t last.

“That was adrenaline, Akhenaten currently isn’t that powerful,” Light pointed out, which made Sebi notice how Akhenaten suddenly looked more disgruntled than before.  He did manage to stumble up to his feet, eyes searching for the man he was fighting with and quickly sprinted towards him who was in a dizzied state.

“He’s going to take the Player Core!” Sebi said, watching keenly as Akhenaten threw himself on Bai Yu. They wrestled and rolled on the ground for a while before Akhenaten finally ripped out the core from his chest.

“Player Bai is out!” the robotic voice announced, giving Team Fulminare a score while the scene of the defeat played out. xbMTw6

But not even a whole minute later, the robotic voice suddenly announced, “Player Yahontov is out!”

“Wait, what happened to her?” Light wondered out loud. Sebi turned to the screen showing the defeat scene and saw that Bellona had been gaining the upper hand with a woman that had the power to produce pink glowing disks that she can manipulate as weapons or use to fly around, the name “Harriet Thompson” appearing on screen. Bellona had been so close to taking her core by teleporting close towards her, but the woman quickly trapped her between two disks and then ripped her core out.

“Bellona, are you dumb?! What the hell are you doing, you punk?!” Akhenaten shouted as Bellona dragged herself towards the side room, where the players who were eliminated stayed.

“Yeah I fucking am! So what?! Blah blah!” she wailed in desolation as she sat next to the guy Akhenaten defeated. QFjvV

“Chunmi doesn’t think you’re cool anymore,” Akhenaten cackled evilly.

“I’m gonna beat your ass!” Bellona angrily shouted at him.

“Akhenaten, look out,” Chunmi called out calmly as she flew down with her mecha suit and pushed Akhenaten away from one of Victoria’s energy blasts, then also shot her own energy blast from her mecha suit towards the opponent.

“This team is dangerous,” Light snickered. “Necomir and that technopath seem to be the normal ones.  Bellona and Akhenaten are dumb and dumber.” KdTqSG

“Do you think they will win?” Sebi wondered.

“If Akhenaten keeps his shit together,” Light laughed. “He can get jumpy when he is nervous. I’ve seen him fight in the Hexagon back in high school. In that match, his team was close to winning, but he lost focus and let the other team get his core.”

Sebi hummed as he nodded his head. “What do you think about Necomir?”

Light laughed even louder, throwing his head back and his blonde hair moving along with the movement. “Decebal, you don’t actually care about the others, right? You only came for Necomir.” T0CeMn

Sebi pursed his lips and looked away. It’s not like that wasn’t true… but he still felt his cheeks heating up from embarrassment at being found out.

“I don’t really know the others yet…” he mumbled in a weak act of defense.

“Eh, I understand,” Light patted his shoulder. “I’d study my rival too, if I was going to beat him. Tip, I have been watching that jerk for years. I don’t think he even has a weakness. He’s got that freak ability to sense any danger that will affect him and find out your moves before you even make it. He’s also powerful in aspects that other ability users lack in because they don’t bother – his physical strength, agility, and stamina is incredible.”

Just as Light said that, Necomir avoided an attack from both Victoria and that woman that defeated Bellona earlier. Chunmi swooped in and took care of Harriet while Necomir swiftly made a few moves that made him look like a blur before he successfully pushed Victoria to the ground by paralyzing her.  bKN8pR

Without wasting time, he ripped out her core.

“Player King, eliminated!” the robot voice announced.

“See? To think Victoria King is one of the craftiest ones out of our batch,” Light said. “I tell you, Necomir is freaky.”

“He’s amazing,” Sebi said with a slightly dreamy voice.  5WOUEm

Necomir was already awesome in his past life without his powers. He was a genius in science and already conducted research wherein he made light outer suits for humans to wear when venturing outside the base to avoid radioactivity. They were so thin and also covered the clothes, which was useful in allowing humans to be more efficient in their outside operations. He wasn’t even fifteen that time.

For Necomir to also be awesome in this lifetime, Sebi already expected it but he still can’t help but be in awe.

Team Fulminare managed to win by the time the twenty minutes ended.

“This match should have just been Player Aquila versus Team Praesto,” Victoria glumly spoke.  9PZdv6

“Oh don’t be whiny, you’re just bitter we won. You have to be thankful we’re not on our perkiest or you wouldn’t even survive past ten minutes,” Bellona said, sticking her tongue out to Victoria.

“That’s bold of you to say when you were eliminated too early on,” Victoria taunted, earning her a nasty look from Bellona who lifted her little claws and was really going to pinch her cheeks in retaliation when Chunmi suddenly butted in and took her hands away.

“Your team was great, Victoria,” Chunmi smiled politely. “Thank you for sparring with us, I hope to see you again during a formal tournament.”

“Thank you too, it was fun,” Victoria smiled, her mood easier with someone polite talking to her. ixO81r

Meanwhile, Bellona was mouthing “Chunmi’s holding my hands!” at Akhenaten, who lifted his thumbs at her in support matched with a goofy smile of approval. The scene looked a bit dumb.

“Thank you for accepting our invite to sparring with us,” Necomir mechanically said, shaking hands with Victoria and her teammates.

“Oh how I wish I don’t have to fight you again,” Victoria forced a smile and giggled as she glared at him. It was a bit scary. “I highkey hate you now.”

After taking a short shower and changing clothes, Necomir and his team slowly made their way out of the Hexagon. It was when he was alone down the hallway and making his way to the exit when he saw his face towel suddenly floating in front of him. 4kBcA6

“You forgot that, Neco.”

The towel fell on his head, blinding Necomir for a moment. When he took it off, he was met with the smiling face of Sebi right in front of him.

“What are you doing here, hatchling?” Necomir said, his lips slightly tilting up into his own smile as he reached out and ruffled his hair. When he realized how he shouldn’t even be acting so familiar with him, it was already too late.

“I watched you,” Sebi said. “I had been studying all morning, so I decided to come out and see what you were up to.” VtWe51

“You should’ve studied more,” Necomir chided him.

“I studied too much already,” Sebi pouted. “And it’s boring being holed up in there. I’ve been alone for far too long already. Watching you beating up other people is more interesting.”

Necomir didn’t know why hearing those words from him was making him feel so smug.

“Do you want to come with me to a training room?” he asked. “Since you’re bored, might as well do something productive.” WoRmf6

“Are those the rooms with the simulations?” Sebi wondered.

“Yes.”

Sebi didn’t see why he shouldn’t accept, so he quickly said, “I’ll come with you!”
