Story of Another UsCh8 - Welcome to The Hexagon

After successfully helping Alexandra, Sebi’s new life gradually shifted to adapt more seriously to the opening of the new semester.

The new semester wasn’t starting in a week, but the headmaster had decided that Sebi needed to start his schoolwork earlier. She sent him books for high school that he could read in advance in preparation for his supplementary classes when the semester starts. LA4kT0

It would be understandable if Sebi complained, but he was already a college student before he had transmigrated into this universe. He already grew a sense of responsibility and he was naturally curious, so poring over books that held new knowledge wasn’t so bad.

Naturally, the first book he picked up was high school level history.

In Sebi’s past universe, early human civilizations were all shrouded in mystery. The first civilization were the Sumerians, who developed a society in Sumer complete with city-states, laws, culture, taxing systems, social stratification, technology, and other elements of a complex society.

It was said that they fell due to the Akkadians conquering their city-states one by one until they created the first empire over them, but no one can explain why Sumerians together with their language and culture seemed to just have been completely wiped out of history. Tests also didn’t show any traces of Sumerian DNA picked up from remains among the modern human population. Until now, Sebi didn’t know why they disappeared. dPWd1J

In this universe, humanity discovered that the Sumerians were able to develop technology so advanced because of a lost king of the Draumes, species who were a lot like humans from the Drau Star System. This king along with his fleet landed on Earth separately because their space crafts were damaged by the Sun’s coronal mass ejection from a solar storm that messed up the technology within them, causing the engines to fail so they had no choice but to crash land.

Since the Draumes were a species who had an affinity for technology, they helped the civilizations on Earth prosper. They became the gods that the early humans revered, engraved in their stone tablets, sculptured into statues, and dedicated with prose.

The Draume King and his men were the ones who helped Sumer, working closely with them, and assisting their development. He also came into contact with his adviser and his men who helped Egypt. Eventually, they managed to connect with each other around the globe, concocting a plan to go back home.

And not only that.

Greed and thirst for dominance were universal. The Draume King did not only plan on coming back home, he also wanted to take humans back with him, with plans of using them as a labor force in his star system.

Due to their superstitious constitutions, humanity was quick to believe him. He promised them a life of beauty and grandeur in “Heaven”, to which humans quickly agreed upon.

Thus, after repairing their space crafts, the Draume King started to smuggle humans back to the Drau Star System. He sent Sumerians first, then Egyptians, then the Indics, then the Chinese, and a bit more from later civilizations. They continued on doing this, assisting humans with technological advancement while taking them as well as some sort of payment.

In the Drau Star System, humans finally realized that they have become slaves to extraterrestrials. They learned the truth and wanted to escape. K5UZBe

Uprisings rose in every part of the Drau Star System, especially the capital planet, Drau. At this point, there were so many humans in vital sectors of production in the Draume society that their revolt managed to impact the society.

It’s important to note that humans and Draumes mixed and even interbred. Combined with the genes of the Draumes, humans developed evolutionary abilities that allowed them to survive in this foreign place.  d3fXCP

But the fire of liberty still hasn’t burned out. Secretly, a few humans who developed these abilities escaped the Draumes and came back to earth. They hid their existence so as not to arouse suspicion and secretly aided humanity back to how they were before the First Catalyst without doing too much.

While humanity developed, the humans left behind in Drau continued on with their revolution and successfully gained liberty when they defeated the Draumes, allowing them to escape and find their own place in the stars.

When the Earth was destroyed by an asteroid during the Second Catalyst thousands of years later, humans who hid in the North Pole and Antarctica in hidden bases brought humanity to the Terra Star System, where the other humans who had fought the Draumes had conquered the Star System and made it their home. Now, the Terrarians, the humans who have come to Terra, and the Draumes have an alliance, the intergalactic era continuing on with security and stability.

Sebi breathed out a heavy sigh as he closed his book and sunk back against his chair. The history of humanity in this universe was so intense, which he already expected, but he still needed some time wrapping around it. After all, he just started learning about it and he’s going to encounter even more of the history in the future as he continues his studying. Dq4y7O

Headmaster Juno had given him a new lightband since his old one was broken long ago, which Sebi used to order food from the cafeteria then a robot simply brought it to him. He had been studying all morning without leaving his room, so he was feeling a bit restless.

Deciding to take a walk, Sebi changed into his uniform and left. He didn’t know where Necomir was and he wanted to look for him, but he also didn’t want to be too independent on him. Being friends with him when they originally didn’t even have a good relationship in this universe is good enough.

Days ago, Necomir had walked him around campus without anything happening. Sebi already familiarized himself with the buildings and routes, so he more or less knew his way around already.

…well actually, Sebi still took the time to study the map of the school after Necomir showed him around. He still felt too awkward and alien in this place, so he tried his best to master the premises so he wouldn’t have to ask anyone about it. t8NX9v

While walking down the hallways, Sebi had to use his psychic abilities to make people stop paying attention to him. It was his fault though, since he originally was already quite popular and now it worsened even more after that fire broke out and he saved Chunmi Alvarez.

“I heard that Necomir Aquila and his team are practicing against Victoria King and her team at the Hexagon.”

Sebi flinched when he heard someone talk about Necomir. He immediately stood still, making himself invisible, and strained his ears to eavesdrop.

“There’s only four of them, though? Will Necomir even stand a chance? Victoria’s team is filled with powerful kids.” Pqa2Wp

“Necomir only has cognitive abilities, but don’t underestimate him. He is super smart, and has an incredible clairvoyant ability. He’s also the youngest son of Minister Marshal Aquila of the Ministry of Intergalactic Affairs, so he got tons of pressure and training just so he could maintain the good reputation of his family.”

“I don’t really care, I just think he’s hot.”

Sebi flinched again, suddenly annoyed as he glared at the person who had said this. He didn’t know why, but he didn’t like knowing people felt some kind of attraction to Necomir.

Unwilling to listen any further, Sebi huffed and walked away. He wanted to go to the Hexagon and see what it’s really like. The original Sebi had already experienced fighting there, but he knew it’s just child’s play compared to what a couple of college students are capable of doing. FCRoTt

After losing his way two times because of the similar-looking hallways, Sebi managed to get to the Hexagon.

It was a large dome-like structure, with bleachers all around the inside and a smaller crystal hexagonal dome in the middle where the Hexagon Tournaments take place. It was like those large arenas in the 20th to 21st centuries that held concerts for singers and dancers that Sebi saw in old archives.

Much to his dismay, Sebi saw that the entrance required guards talking to people while they scanned and made sure no forbidden things were brought inside.

Standing at the side, Sebi mentally prepared himself first. He didn’t know what those guards would ask, so he was a bit nervous. He even considered manipulating the guards into simply ignoring him, but that would be against the rules and those guards wore protective helmets against telepathic influence anyway. T8yHAx

‘Why are you even so scared? It’s just passing through some guard,’ Sebi thought, trying to convince himself to just suck it up and go like a normal adult would.

But there was a part of him keeping him rooted where he was – that anxious, uncertain part of Sebi that always questioned everything that he did.

While he was busy being in conflict with himself, a guard had already noticed Sebi fidgeting at the side. This guard was someone who stayed with the academy long enough to see generation after generation of students come and go.

“Mr. Yan!” she called out, gesturing at the boy. She was quite acquainted with him since Sebi always took part in Hexagon Tournaments when he was younger. v4da5u

Sebi was startled when he heard the guard called out to him. With his inherited memories, Sebi recognized this person as Ms. Eris Leon, one of the most seasoned guards in the force that protects the Academy.

“Ms. Leon,” Sebi politely answered, smiling shyly.

“Finally saw you after a while,” the guard grinned at him fondly. “Back with your conquests again? The teams inside are just about to start.”

“Oh no,” Sebi shook his head. “I’m just going to watch my friend.” WQcpOP

“Oh, I see,” Ms. Leon laughed. “Alright, pass through this detector first then you can run along.”

After passing the detector, Sebi thanked the guard and ran towards the bleachers, his eyes out in the dome while he looked for a good spot. There were a lot of people there to spectate, but no too much that Sebi had to struggle looking for a seat.

The Hexagon had a series of large screens all around the place so that everyone could get a good view of everything happening within. Currently, the teams below were only preparing.

On one screen, Sebi could see Necomir together with Bellona, Akhenaten, and Chunmi. They all wore the training version of the uniform, allowing them to be freer with their movements.  yoWVbN

Sebi subconsciously stared at Necomir, whom he thought looked really exquisite. His long hair was tied up in a ponytail, revealing his sharp features. The uniform clung to his muscular body, and revealed much of his nicely shaped arms.

No wonder those people thought of indecent thoughts about him…

Sebi sighed and nodded. His best friend really was the best. He’s not only powerful, but he’s also capable of attracting everyone’s attention. Sebi didn’t like the thought of it, but it was very understandable.

The sound of trumpets suddenly rang through the Hexagon, followed by a robotic voice. dSOR4U

“Welcome to the Hexagon! Today’s sparring tournament shall feature Team Fulminare and Team Praesto!”

Author’s Notes:

Sebi is being lowkey possessive, he doesn’t even know it :blobrofl: ciXCtS
