Story of Another UsCh48 - Visit to Vuturn

Aside from Terra and Helldrum, there was another planet that was highly urbanized and prosperous compared to others in the star system.

Vuturn is the name of this planet, and it’s Necomir’s home planet. Sebi had learned from school that this planet had very rich soil that allowed agriculture and greenery to thrive. Due to this, half of the star system’s supply of organic food comes from Vuturn alone. FJstuN

But even though it was the center of agriculture, Sebi saw that it was just as urbanized as Terra was. The only difference is that you can always see trees and plants everywhere, may it be inside or outside buildings. The plants didn’t even look out of place as they were artfully placed with and among buildings.

“Do you want to go eat something?” Necomir asked. Sebi couldn’t see his whole expression because he wore sunglasses.

“He’s so cool…” Sebi couldn’t help but think before answering, “Let’s eat something you natives would eat. I’m sure it will be tasty.”

The starship they rode on also carried along land transportation, so Necomir and Sebi were able to conveniently move along the streets of Vuturn with his suspension car.  c5NtdB

Everywhere they go, Sebi could see so many people that seemed even more than any other place that he has been to. Looking at him from the driver’s seat, Necomir accurately deciphered the confusion on his face and said, “Terrarians have always yearned for anything close to how Earth was. There will always be more people in prosperous and scenic planets that are famous for vegetation and marine life.”

“You’re right,” Sebi nodded, belatedly remembering that one of the older textbooks he had read when he came into this life did mention that Terrarians were very enthusiastic towards Earth culture.

As they travelled further, Sebi was even more amazed to see that air and land traffic had become even thicker. This was the first time he even got to experience a long traffic line upon approaching a road intersection.

“We’re just a couple more streets ahead,” Necomir impatiently said. “Sorry, Sebi. We might have to be stuck in here for a while.”

Sebi hummed. He wasn’t in a hurry, but Necomir seemed so upset about traffic that he couldn’t help but try helping out.

“Neco, can’t we just go down that road?” Sebi pointed towards a turn up ahead where a couple of cars were passing through.

“It doesn’t lead towards our destination,” Necomir sighed.

“Can’t we just park this somewhere first then walk?” Sebi further suggested. Vl30H7

Necomir blinked, his eyebrows finally unfurrowing. “I think I can recall that there is a paid parking area down the street up ahead.”

“Then let’s do that, alright? Traffic stinks,” Sebi laughed lightly. “It isn’t bad to walk around. After all, it’s my first time in your home planet.”

The taller man took a moment to give Sebi a deep look before looking away to concentrate on the road.

It wasn’t long after when Necomir finally parked the car. Sebi felt his heart stir, incredibly impressed and his crush on his friend growing a bit more after seeing how much of a capable driver he was. It made him think that he should drive as well so he could one day take Necomir out in his own car. hifGyD

“Let’s go,” Necomir said, waiting for Sebi to walk next to him.

When they left the parking lot, Sebi was surprised to see so many people walking around. He hadn’t seen how densely packed the streets were from the car earlier.

“Just stay close to me,” Necomir lifted his hand, patted his shoulder then retreated.

Sebi pouted as he fell in step, glancing at Necomir’s back then at his strong arm that was swinging leisurely by his side. Sebi slowly raised a hand, hesitating before he suddenly held on to Necomir’s arm.

He didn’t know what was possessing him today, but he was feeling really brave.

Startled, Necomir stopped in his tracks and looked at Sebi blankly. Sebi almost flinched away nervously, but he didn’t back down and just stared at him innocently. JuQk9s

“Can’t I?” he dared to question. “I’ll get lost if I don’t keep close to you.”

Necomir laughed softly. “You certainly can. Maybe you’d also like my hand?”

Sebi stared up at the man, blushing madly as he wondered if Necomir was flirting with him.

But before he could muster up the courage to just ask, Necomir suddenly tugged at him then led him down the street towards their destination.  ZDfWyK

As much as Sebi wanted to enjoy the sights, he was tired from the flight. After eating a table full of Vuturn’s specialties, Necomir took Sebi away to rest.

Sebi had not thought about where they would be staying because he trusted whatever Necomir had planned for him. But when it dawned on him that this was Necomir’s home planet and they were most likely going to be staying in his house, it made Sebi suddenly feel panicked.

“U-Um… Neco?” Sebi said, sweating when they finally stopped in front of a mansion. “I-I think we should just go rent an apartment–”

“Why?” Necomir raised an eyebrow. “My parents aren’t home and it’s convenient with the helpers. You shouldn’t worry about disturbing anyone. And besides, this is not the main family home.” qVhwAz

Sebi felt a bit more relaxed as they drove through the gate after hearing that Necomir’s parents weren’t home.

But after that, he suddenly had the inexplicable feeling that they were like those teenagers in the fictional books that he had read who snuck around behind their parents’ backs…

Sebi shook his head. His brain was too shameless today.

The first day of their stay was relaxed. The two men stayed in the living room of the large house, lazying on the sofa and watching an animated movie while talking about Sebi’s treatment. eam4Ky

The psychiatrist Necomir found for Sebi was one of the best in her field. Dr. Zhao specialized on treating ability users who are psychologically disturbed, and since doing this can be dangerous due to their powers, Dr. Zhao had to be both good and gifted. This meant she was also an ability user.

“Is she a telepath?” Sebi uncomfortably said. He didn’t make it a habit to use his telepathy because he didn’t like how invasive he was.  He was more likely against telepathy being used on him, scared of what others may see inside his mind.

“Don’t worry,” Necomir comforted, quickly remembering that time when Sebi first broke in front of him and showed him how scared he was. “She’s more of an… empath. She uses her powers to make the treatment easier for you.”

Sebi sighed and didn’t say anything after that, simply munching on his popcorn. Even if her being an empath still made him feel uncomfortable, it’s not like he should be picky or anything. Necomir already said Dr. Zhao was one of the best out there already. If she’s not the one who gets to treat him, there’s probably not many other doctors out there who can help him. Yf4DkL

The next day, Necomir accompanied Sebi to Dr. Zhao.

Dr. Zhao was stationed at a private hospital. The white walls and the sanitized smell made Sebi feel a bit nauseous, but if he didn’t feel nervous in the first place, he wouldn’t feel sick.

Necomir took the initiative to knock.

“Come in!” came a pleasant voice of a woman from inside. ydkXYC

Dr. Zhao was a doctor in her fifties yet still looked gorgeous. She exuded elegance and professionalism as she welcomed Necomir and Sebi into her office.

“Good morning, Mr. Aquila and Mr. Yan,” she greeted them. “We finally meet. Have a seat.”

Sebi sat just across Necomir, who smiled at him reassuringly.

“Thank you for having us, doctor,” Necomir politely said. omDMed

“I should be the one most grateful for your presence,” Dr. Zhao smiled as she flipped through the documents on her table. “I have read through Mr. Yan’s medical records from his previous doctor and my, aren’t you a curiosity?”

Sebi smiled shyly underneath Dr. Zhao’s enthusiastic look. “Well, I did come here to get treated and be normal…”

“The thing is, Mr. Yan… the abnormality you have is what makes you stronger than normal people,” the doctor spoke  eyes boring down on him. “You could take advantage of it… but alas, no matter how powerful someone could be, there will always be setbacks. Terrarians are still just weak humans graced with a bit more steel from the blood of other races, after all. You feel that too, right?”

Sebi did indeed feel so irrevocably human. It was like a god trying to mold himself into a human vessel, but the vessel could not work well with his powers. eovCST

“I’m powerful, but also very weak,” Sebi mumbled.

“So familiar,” Dr. Zhao chuckled. “I’ve treated powerful ability users, all who would be able to do so much more if they were just a bit more stable. It’s a long, exhausting process… but we will get there.”

The doctor turned to Necomir. “Mr. Aquila, if you don’t mind, may I have a one-on-one session with Mr. Yan today?”

Sebi looked at Necomir, eyes filled with dependence that made the taller man’s heart squeeze.  8PHAWh

“Yes, doctor,” Necomir said with a nod, reaching out to pat Sebi’s shoulder.

Dr. Zhao ushered Sebi to a patient’s chair. She adjusted its backrest so he can be a bit more comfortable. Sebi glanced at Necomir, and he received an encouraging look  before he left to wait outside.

“Alright, Mr. Yan, tell me about your experience with your powers,” Dr. Zhao smiled. Sebi just met her, but she had the kind of vibe similar to Headmaster Juno – caring, concerned, yet they didn’t suffocate him and let him do and say what he thinks is proper for himself.

Sebi looked up to the ceiling, fiddling with his fingers as he began, “I’m a telekinetic telepath. I have been training and becoming stronger day by day, but I haven’t trained my telepathy that much?” lGscYy

Why?” Dr. Zhao asked. “”Does your powers make you feel some sort of way?

Sebi pursed his lips uncomfortably, but he was so relaxed that he didn’t restrain himself. “Guilt… Everyone has their own free will, and if I use it, it feels like I’m taking away their free will. I don’t ever want to use it if I could.”

“I heard you dealt with a terrorist through your powers,” Dr. Zhao curiously said. “How does your mind feel after using your powers?”

Telepathy subconsciously scared him the most because he was powerful enough to control people. Aside from guilt, someone like Sebi existed so it meant there was also someone out there who can do what he can. That fact scared him, so even if he knew his telepathy could know no bounds, he stopped himself. Z30eV7

“My mind feels… powerful. Like it could do anything, if I was brave enough,” Sebi finally admitted.

“Powerful? Do you think you’re powerful, Sebi?”

“I am,” Sebi’s tense lips suddenly twisted into a confident smile. Dr. Zhao narrowed her eyes, noticing the sudden change but didn’t say anything. “I can be even more powerful, Dr. Zhao.  Do you believe in gods?”

Dr. Zhao was surprised by the question. “I… I do.” 6SauLy

“I might become one. I’m not sure when, but I will,” Sebi grinned arrogantly. His brown eyes were dark and unfathomable. “But I am currently trapped, and I can’t use everything I’ve got right now. It’s okay, though.”

The doctor stared at him curiously as she wildly jotted down notes on her notebook.

“I came here to get better,” Sebi calmly said, his dark eyes finally turning back to their warm, sparkly, brown shade. “When I get better, I can do more things without endangering anyone.”

Dr. Zhao nodded and smiled perfunctorily, but her hands that were still speedily writing down notes proved to show how interesting her new patient was. IXtpGU
