Story of Another UsCh47 - Unworthy

When Sebi woke up, his senses were dull and he could barely hear the voices of people talking within the vicinity. It took moments of blinking and getting used to the light before he realized that he was confined again in an infirmary room, and the people talking were Headmaster Juno and Necomir.

“I hate being confined over and over again…” Sebi sighed internally. VIDCk

“Sebi! Are you okay?” Headmaster Juno cried out when she finally noticed that he was awake. Necomir also looked over, his expression didn’t change but he did lean closer.

“I’m fine,” Sebi waved a hand as he sat up. “How long have I been out?”

“Only a few hours,” Necomir said. “Your condition wasn’t so bad. The Hexagon took more damage.”

Sebi felt his cheeks heat up in embarrassment and distress when he recalled what had happened. XkCNqm

It had all been a blur. Sebi just suddenly felt a rush of strong energy that he couldn’t control spill out of him, draining him out until he lost consciousness. It was embarrassing, how someone like him who has been training for months couldn’t control his energy space and ended up destroying the Academy’s property, nearly endangering people’s lives in the process…

“Dr. Wu told us you are becoming abnormally stronger,” Headmaster Juno carefully spoke when she saw the disappointment on his face. “This is normal and expected, considering your ability has been developing yet pent up inside of you for years due to your coma.”

“I don’t want this to keep on happening,” Sebi mumbled.

“That’s why we’re going to get you doctors who will understand you better,” the headmaster glanced at Necomir. “I could only blame myself for my incompetence as a guardian who has too many responsibilities. I’m employing Mr. Aquila’s help, since he said he knows experts who can help you.”

Sebi only nodded. It’s good that even after all that, especially how he must have injured his childhood friend, Necomir still wanted to help him. He was just too good to him in every lifetime.

The incident skyrocketed Sebi’s fame as a telekinetic, resulting in the media starting to take notice. Aside from them, various government-related institutions specializing on immobilizing powerful ability users have also reached out trying to recruit Sebi into the military, research field, medical field and all other fields with the premise that the Academy won’t be able to give him proper, focused training because of their institution’s nature – wherein ability users can train but their training won’t hinder the college degrees they wanted to work for.

To avoid such a headache, Headmaster Juno asked Necomir to take Sebi away and just proceed with his treatment.

After issuing them a leave permit, Necomir and Sebi prepared to leave. But before they left, Sebi and his class suddenly received a case study wherein their topic would be something related to a planet they have not grown up in or are not very familiar with. FZcLol

“How about Helldrum? I’ll give you my seal so that you can do whatever you want there,” Akhenaten offered generously to him and Bellona.

“Can I?” Sebi shyly asked.

“Don’t be so timid, we’re friends,” Akhenaten grinned as he secretly slid the seal of Vulpes Morsu into Sebi’s hand. It looked like a coin, with the seal of a fox engraved into the bronze. The eyes of the fox had expensive gemstones on it and gold enhanced certain parts of the seal.

“Thank you Akhenaten, you can ask me to make one of your papers when I get back,” Sebi gratefully said with sparkling eyes.  v1utVZ

A certain man could only glare at Akhenaten out of jealousy.

“Bummer, I’ll have to go alone because Sebi and Necomir have a different appointment next week! Sebi can’t do the case study immediately,” Bellona sullenly pouted.

Sebi was about to make a compromise out of guilt, but Chunmi was quick to volunteer, saying, “I’ll go with you.”

When all that was set, Sebi told Necomir about the case study. With watery eyes, he blinked up at him and asked forgiveness for the inconvenience.  l51Gdf

“Y-You can just send me off to Helldrum if you want to go back immediately,” Sebi quickly said with fluttering eyelashes. “I can handle the case study by myself. I don’t want to trouble you–”

“Nothing is trouble if it’s you,” Necomir patted his soft hair and smiled gently.

“Decebal Yan,” Kenojuak called out with that airy voice of hers as she stood tall in front of him. Her nobility and grace was too intimidating, anybody affected by her felt like bowing their heads.

“What do you want…” Sebi mumbled evasively as he took a slight step back.

“I’m not going to look for payback,” Kenojuak mused, completely aware of his behavior. “I’m just here to say thanks a lot.” sIMxpQ

“For… For what?”

“You helped me advance,” Kenojuak said. “Obviously, the battle against you allowed my ability to reach new heights. I’m looking forward to fighting you again. You’re so talented, I’ve never met someone as powerful as you. You’re so interesting.”

Sebi laughed nervously as he shook his head. He wasn’t going to fight anyone until he was better. What kind of person would he be to aggravate Headmaster Juno by continuously and intentionally causing earthquakes and breaking the Academy’s property?!

“Oh.” JBQeC9

Kenojuak looked over Sebi’s shoulder upon hearing that familiar voice. “Hey, Necomir. When are you treating me to dinner?”

Sebi tensed when he heard what she said. He lowered his head, pursed his lips and didn’t make a sound as he tried to look for ways to leave without being rude. He looked like a little rabbit who had been pushes into a corner.

“When did I owe you dinner?” Necomir lazily said, momentarily glancing at Sebi at the side.

“You used to take me out to dinner once in a while,” Kenojuak rolled her eyes. “Getting bored with me?” hd2BRY

There was a really unpleasant, prickly feeling ravaging Sebi’s throat, and the entity inside him was becoming restless as it responded to his fluctuating emotions.

“Watch your words,” Necomir said. “Don’t speak nonsense. I’ll treat you some other time.”

“You won’t have to treat me if you come and see my parents again.”

Sebi couldn’t stand being there anymore. 2DxPW1

“I-I’m going to leave…” he stuttered as Sebi  hurriedly ran away.

Surprised to see him suddenly leave, Necomir reached out to stop him, but his hand could only awkwardly grasp air as Sebi disappeared down the hallway. He had wanted to invite him to dinner but that can’t seem to be the case anymore…

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Necomir glared at Kenojuak, who whistled and pretended to not know anything. She looked at Necomir and feigned surprise. “What? Did I do something wrong?”

Looking at her soft blue eyes just caused Necomir’s brain to ache. He could only rub her hair to mess up her hairstyle, satisfying himself with her loud complaining before leaving to eat on his own since it would be awkward to look for Sebi now. BmZYeK

Back in his bedroom, Sebi had no appetite as he drowned himself in a book. Liking someone secretly was too poisonous. Sebi had no intention to have Necomir for himself, yet seeing him flirt with somebody else who was so beautiful and talented easily shook Sebi’s composure, making his heart ache and bleed out of… jealousy.

This wasn’t rational at all. Sebi had no right to feel jealous, especially since he and Necomir were just close friends. Him out of all people should know not to hold such selfish, possessive feelings for Necomir who had been nothing but generous and kind to him.

It took a whole night for Sebi to adjust his emotions. By the time morning came, Sebi still felt faintly upset but he was more or less composed now.

They were set to go to the starport at eight in the morning so they don’t miss their flight by nine. Sebi woke up at six and still had plenty of time to make sure he was all set. FZ8NvI

Later, Sebi suddenly heard a knock on his door. Without moving from his spot, he raised his hand and telekinetically opened the door.

“Good morning, Misharu,” he pleasantly greeted the white-haired man who looked like he was forced up from his bed and sent away to run around without washing himself. He was still wearing his pajamas, his eyes were still webbed with red and his eyebrows were furrowed in a resting annoyed face.

“Take this,” Misharu suddenly tossed Sebi a really small thing that would have flown away and got lost if Sebi didn’t have telekinesis.

Upon closer inspection, Sebi saw that it was a really tiny black clip thing. Confused, he looked up to Misharu and asked, “What’s this?” DdjoLu

“Helldrum is a place where illegal shit happens and no one questions it, you know that already,” Misharu explained nonchalantly. “I ordered Akhenaten to get you these locators in case something bad happens to you so the proper authorities can track you down. Pin it in your hair.”

“Won’t it get blown off?” Sebi wondered as he moved to carefully clip it in place.

“Its technology is made to imitate lice,” Misharu spoke in deadpan.

Sebi looked up at him, waiting for Misharu to dryly say that he was joking. fINSUW

“I’m not joking,” Misharu read his mind. “Lice sticks so hard to your hair that it fascinated some weird scientists who tried replicating how they do it and integrated it into that device.”

“…Alright. You really love me, don’t you?”

Misharu turned red in embarrassment and angrily slapped the bed. “You wish!”

Sebi snickered mischievously before driving him out of his room to fix his disgraceful and disheveled morning appearance. 52qaph

Around thirty minutes before eight, Necomir knocked on Sebi’s door. When he opened the door, Sebi’s eyes were blinded by Necomir’s handsome bearing. Like the other times he saw him outside school, Necomir was suited in a mix of formal and casual wear – a white shirt tucked into black pants that highlighted his long legs. His belt was made of gold, and his wrist donned an expensive watch. Long, soft dark hair cascaded majestically over his shoulders, and to top it all off, he wore a gentle smile across his face.

“Your male god looks so hot,” Sebi heard the entity whistle wolfishly like a rogue. “Why are you trying so hard to keep your hands off him? Why don’t you let me take the wheel and I promise you’ll finally get a taste–”

“Shut up!” Sebi scolded the entity, cheeks heating up in embarrassment.

“Ready? The car is outside,” Necomir asked as he reached out to take Sebi’s bag.  FA1quB

“A-Aren’t we eating at the cafeteria first?” Sebi asked, avoiding Necomir’s eyes as he pulled his bag away from him. He had spent all night trying to suppress his emotions and yet… in front of this person…

“We’ll eat outside, I’ve reserved a place,” Necomir answered, tilting his head to the side as he stared at Sebi. His hand that had been reaching for Sebi’s hand hovered in the air for a few moments awkwardly before he pulled it back. “Is… is there something wrong?”

“Nothing,” Sebi quickly shook his head, scolding himself. He should stop acting weird, Necomir wasn’t stupid. He’d notice Sebi acting weird and would naturally question it. “Just feeling out of it.”

“You’re not feeling well?” Necomir worriedly said, reaching out to touch his forehead only for Sebi to softly push his hand away. It wasn’t done in a rude way, but Necomir still couldn’t help but feel dumbfounded. 8yETm

“I’m fine,” Sebi gave him a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “I’ll rest during the trip, don’t worry.”

Leaving the school premises, Necomir used his own suspension car and took Sebi to a restaurant downtown. He  couldn’t say that things were becoming awkward between them. In fact, Sebi seemed to be the same as usual, getting excited by mundane things and taking the initiative to converse even though sometimes he fell silent.

Necomir had the feeling that Sebi was distancing himself from him.

Because of what, Necomir had no idea. The realization made him want to pin Sebi down, bully him into opening those precious sweet lips and get him talking about what he had done wrong. K8uQPn

But of course, Necomir couldn’t do that. He treasured Sebi too much. Sebi was strong and amazing but knowing his temperament, he’d be scared witless if he suddenly did that.

Unlike before when they went to Phohenus, Sebi and Necomir boarded a public starship. It wasn’t like the planes that Sebi saw in the ancient records, though. Rather, this one had a designated chamber for the both of them throughout the half-day trip.

“Looks comfy,” Sebi complimented when he saw the sleek interior of the chamber complete with a television, mini dining area, and even a refrigerator. This was half hearted though, as Sebi quickly rushed towards the window and gazed out into the cosmos.

Necomir chuckled as he walked over to the bedspace. The bed was folded into the wall, and he only had to tap a button for it to unfold. xdNjDV

“Sebi, come rest,” Necomir called out as he sat to the side and took off his shoes. He then stretched as he released a few of the buttons of his shirt. It wasn’t apparent, but Necomir had stayed up all night finalizing his work just so he can accompany Sebi today.

It’s no big deal though since it was Sebi, after all.

“It’s okay,” Sebi said as he continued to stare out into the stars.

“Then I’ll sleep for a while.” QMkmzr

Necomir laid down and rolled over to the inside of the bed, facing the wall as he closed his eyes. The exhaustion must have gotten to him because not even a minute later, his breath had evened out as he finally fell asleep.

Sebi looked over to Necomir once he sensed that he was asleep. Actually, he wasn’t that infatuated with the view of space. Being alone with Necomir was inviting strange thoughts into his mind and with the damned entity making shameless comments about Necomir that riled him up, Sebi could only stare out into space to calm himself.

From where he stood, Sebi looked to the side and found Necomir sleeping, making light snoring noises. He had initially been facing the wall, but it wasn’t the sleeping position that he was used to so his body just adjusted himself to face the direction opposite of it.

Like this, Sebi could see Necomir’s usually sharp features looking softer than usual as he peacefully slept. This wasn’t his first time seeing him asleep, but it was the first time that Sebi had examined him earnestly. Vws5fN

“He’s so beautiful,” the entity inside him sighed. “He could easily be yours if you were just a bit braver…”

Sebi huffed, unable to rebuke what the entity said as he strode over and bent down.

Such a beautiful person… how could someone broken and weird like Sebi be worthy of him?

Author’s Notes:

Sebi: I am not worthy of him. I’m too timid and so troublesome… I always need caring…

Necomir: I don’t want to pressure him. I can take care of him even when we’re just friends. But I still want him to say he likes me! Gd72X4

Hang in there boys~
