Story of Another UsCh45 - Almost Like A Date

“I’m really sorry, Counselor. I’ll tell the Headmaster, don’t worry.”

Sebi snapped his head to the taller man next to him. “Why are you apologizing? That person was the one who started it!” pydnr3

The guidance counselor sighed as she could only wave her hand dismissively, not willing to deal with them anymore after hours of lecturing Sebi yet being met by rebuttal.

Although it really had been the other kid’s fault, Sebi wasn’t without fault either.

After all, who told him to give his classmates a fright?!

Necomir had a headache as he grabbed Sebi’s wrist and pulled him out of the office. lsu3Ve

“Let me go, Neco!” Sebi struggled against his grasp, but Necomir didn’t let go. When he kept on being difficult, Necomir pushed him into a corner.

“Hey,” Necomir called out to him, his voice a bit low and gruff from his impatience as he slammed a hand on the wall next to Sebi’s head. “Why are you being disobedient and naughty, hmm?”

Dumbfounded, Sebi finally behaved as his mind processed Necomir’s words.

Why did it sound like… Necomir was talking to a child?!

The confrontation between Sebi and Nick hadn’t been too bad, but it was enough to plummet Sebi into the kind of infamy he used to enjoy when he was younger as the original Sebi of this universe. He had thrown chairs at Nick who desperately avoided them while their classmates shivered in horror, until Necomir tackled him to the ground while some teachers restrained an angry, humiliated Nick.

Sebi pouted and crossed his arms.

“It really wasn’t my fault…” he whispered, unapologetic of what he had done.

Hearing such timid but stubborn words from Sebi made Necomir’s heart itch. He sighed and finally ruffled Sebi’s hair, saying, “Alright, it wasn’t your fault.” pNW6gJ

Sebi looked at Necomir contemptuously, knowing he was just saying that so he can shut up.

“Bring me to the Headmaster,” Sebi glumly said as he looked away grumpily. “Then tell her what I have done.”

Necomir stared at him for a while. No matter how he tried to look at him and changed his understanding of Sebi’s behavior, Necomir could only think of one thing.

This little kid was asking to be coaxed. bU9RZn

“Now why would I do that?” Necomir said with a strangely sweet voice that made Sebi’s ears tingle with unfamiliarity… and delight. “I know you’d rather I take you somewhere else.”

Redness quickly dusted Sebi’s cheeks. He was taken aback for a moment before he cleared his throat and continued to look away. “W-What are you even talking about… just say it properly if you want me to practice more.”

Necomir chuckled. “Of course you need to practice. We’re going up against Kenojuak and her team this weekend. You have no idea how powerful they are.”

Irritation clouded Sebi’s heart. It was an ugly feeling, and even though he tried his hardest to push it down, it has already left a sour taste in his mouth. “Alright, alright. I’ll go practice by myself.” ycUtea

Just as Sebi was about to walk off, Necomir suddenly stopped him by grabbing his hand. The warmth made Sebi freeze as he slowly looked down at their hands.

“How can I let you practice alone? I’ll go with you,” Necomir said.

“You really don’t need to,” Sebi muttered as he sighed, subconsciously curling his fingers lightly around the other man’s hand.

“We’ll practice a little bit and afterwards, I’ll take you to eat outside the campus,” Necomir said as he tugged at his hand. “What do you say?” pi5qIK

Sebi pursed his lips and nodded, unable to decline such an offer. Although the food at the cafeteria was nutritious and flavorful, young people still sought out novelty in their food or wanted to taste food from their home planets. Thus, there was an abundance of highly diverse food houses just outside the Academy, and Sebi knew a lot of the students chose eating out.

No one had offered to take him out so Sebi didn’t feel the need to go out for food.

Raising a hand, Necomir smiled and gestured at Sebi to come closer to him. He did as he was told and stood next to Necomir, looking up at him with a docile look on his face. SxlKJp

“Kenojuak is an insane ice ability user,” Necomir began. “She can build her own little Ice Age if she wants to, so we have to be quick in dealing with her, suppress her right from the start before she gets comfortable. We’ll have to rely on you for that.”

Sebi pressed his lips together and nodded. He felt irritated. He wanted Necomir to stop talking about her…

“We’ll just have to eliminate her thoroughly,” the entity inside Sebi spoke up with a little sneaky chuckle. “Once you have beaten  Kenojuak Leclerc, people will never question your ability. You’ll impress Necomir this way. We’ll be known as one of the most powerful ability users of this age!”

Sebi closed his eyes and slightly nodded. The entity was right, it made a convincing point. People already understood Sebi’s capabilities, but he needed to drive the fact solidly through everyone’s minds. It was the best way. hJCrNI

“I’ll beat her,” Sebi spoke in a confident, nonchalant tone. “It will be easy.”

As they began training, Necomir had the realization that Sebi had grown incredibly stronger than he already was.

Before, Sebi was already capable of causing earthquakes, stopping bullets, breaking through buildings and even waging intense mental warfare. He had his weaknesses, the sort that stopped him from performing his best. He wasn’t well-trained and steady in fights because of years being in a coma, and he was also physically weaker than most of their peers.

However, it seemed like Sebi had grown past those obstacles.  miWPZ1

His reflexes were snappier, his strength has grown, his mentality against opponents seemed to have improved tremendously, and he was able to maintain this strength despite the handicaps given to him by the Player Cores for fairness.

Watching him fight against the robots, it almost seemed like… a really different Sebi.

Necomir shook his head. Even if Sebi had a psychological problem, it wouldn’t affect the growth of his abilities. He just had to accept that Sebi was finally successfully adapting to his life after coma and was reaching the new heights of what he was capable of. This was normal.

When they were done, Sebi didn’t even look frail and haggard like he used to after an intense training. He was tired, but his eyes were bright and he still looked like he could spring into action. When he noticed Necomir gazing at him, Sebi straightened up and said, “Kenojuak Leclerc definitely won’t beat me. You can all lie down while I carry you through battle.” QEn9uN

Necomir found it strange. Why did Sebi seem so hung up on Kenojuak when her whole team was a threat?

Unless…

Necomir’s heart skipped a beat.

He can’t be sure… but he’s willing to wait for Sebi to say the words to him. C9mKvq

Chuckling, Necomir reached out and ruffled Sebi’s soft hair. “Getting arrogant, aren’t we? You still have handicaps.”

“Don’t you believe in me?” Sebi looked displeased as he pouted.

“Of course I do, no one is as powerful as you,” Necomir was quick to coax him. “But of course, I won’t let you do things alone. It’s a teamfight. You’re very capable, but we need to share the burden.”

“Even kings need assistants,” the entity begrudgingly agreed. zNyd3j

“Alright, we’re done here,” Necomir announced with a clap of his hands. “Go change into casual clothes, we’re going out.”

Going out…

Sebi felt his cheeks burn up as he quickly ran away before his fluster could be noticed.

After changing into casual clothes and meeting up, Necomir took Necomir out of the campus to one of the nearby food houses. The night was cold with a chilly breeze that kept brushing against their faces, but the city was still alive with bright lights and activity. They walked down the pavement in a comfortable silence as people from both in and out of the Academy weaved in and out of crowds. ou9aA5

Sebi felt his nose beginning to itch a little before he sneezed. The weather has been hot lately, so he didn’t expect that it would be cold. He only wore a plain shirt with pants that was thankfully a bit warmer.

Clothing was suddenly draped over his shoulders. Sebi looked up to his companion inquisitively, blinking in confusion. Necomir had given him the black jacket that he had been wearing.

“Wear it,” Necomir smiled as he patted his shoulder. “Can’t let you get sick.”

Sebi pursed his lips, stopping an idiotic smile from spreading across his face as he simply whispered a “Thank you” as he properly placed his limbs through the jacket. The clothing was warm, and it deluded Sebi into thinking that Necomir was… was h-hugging him. cGkEPL

“Ahhhhh… stop it!” Sebi thought to himself as he shook his head.

Noticing his movements, Necomir tilted his head to the side and said, “Is there something wrong?”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Sebi quickly shook his head. “Nothing, there was just… a mosquito.”

Necomir didn’t think much of it and just led him into a food house. What Sebi didn’t expect was that the place wasn’t just some ordinary food house. gayem3

Upon entering, Sebi was blinded by the luxurious interior. Men and women were seated inside, dressed in formal clothes. It made Sebi flinch and panic as he slowly started to back away out of shame and feeling out of place.

“Mr. Aquila, Mr. Yan, welcome to the Amethyst Delight!” a waiter joyously greeted them, eyes sparkling. Sebi was amazed to hear this person acknowledge him, but he was not distracted from his self-consciousness so he reached out to tug at Necomir’s shirt and give him a meaningful stare.

“Please lead the way,” Necomir hurriedly told the waiter who was all too pleased to do so.

As the waiter walked in front of them, Necomir pulled Sebi close and whispered, “What’s wrong?” 1jVNg9

“This is a formal place, and we’re just students getting dinner,” Sebi said in an embarrassed tone as he could feel people starting to take notice of them.

“Don’t worry about it,” Necomir chuckled as he slung an arm over Sebi’s shoulders. “If it comforts you, I reserved a private room so we can eat in peace.”

“T-that’s great, but I also probably can’t afford–”

“I’ll pay, so you just have to eat a lot.” HYxSDk

Knowing Necomir was the one paying definitely won’t make Sebi binge out like he usually does! He still has shame, okay? He was a really big eater so it would be embarrassing to eat a lot without even paying.

They were led up to the second floor and into a nice secluded area near the balcony that overlooked the city. The private room was small but prestigious, with a nice glass table and comfortable, soft seats.

“You choose what we eat,” Necomir waved a hand, the waiter offering the menu to Sebi, who was still a bit anxious. He only felt a little less tense upon seeing the delicious-looking food on the menu.

“Are you gonna order just that?” Necomir wondered when he saw the small amount of dishes “Order more, that won’t fill our stomachs.” iPv58I

Hearing Necomir say that, Sebi’s shame suddenly vanished as he worried overwhat food the taller man would like. It wouldn’t be nice if Necomir brought him out and he didn’t come back to school with a full stomach.

Necomir secretly stared at Sebi, smiling in adoration at how he carefully chose the dishes and asked the waiter for his opinion.

Once the waiter was gone, the room was filled with silence. This wasn’t the first time Sebi was alone with Necomir, but this kind of atmosphere was different.

“Almost like a date…” his thoughts teased him until he was red in the face. V3GP2q

Necomir was unaware of Sebi’s strange behavior, so he took advantage of the fact that they were alone to discuss some private things with him.

“Sebi…” he started off with a low, soft voice to call out to him.

“Y-Yes?” Sebi nervously asked, heart thumping from that ridiculously honey-like voice.

“I haven’t told the headmaster yet, but I’ve contacted some psychologists,” Necomir carefully said. “I can accompany you, but only if you want. If you don’t like the experience, we can try other means.” nt6Npe

Sebi straightened up on his seat and pursed his lips. He can feel the entity inside him chuckling mockingly. Although it wasn’t harming him, Sebi knew there were underlying implications that would sooner or later manifest.

Just like that time when the entity took control over him and Necomir found out…

“I’ll… I’ll go,” Sebi smiled timidly. “Thanks for taking care of me, Neco… You’re always so good to me. This is clearly something that I should personally deal with but you still end up helping me.”

“Of course, I’ll do anything for you,” Necomir casually said as he leaned back and looked up at the chandelier. At first, he did things for Sebi out of responsibility, but now that his feelings have changed, Necomir has made it his obligation to take care of him. qA07S8

Sebi tilted his head to the side and smiled warmly. “I need to give something to you in exchange. What do you want? Although I can’t give you anything good right now, I’ll make sure to remember in the future–”

Necomir suddenly leaned forward, arms folded on the table. His eyes were bright and sharp as he wondered, “Do you… really not remember anything you said back during that episode?”

He was referring to that time when the entity inside him took control…

Sebi gulped, feeling a bit panicky. What had he told Necomir? Did he say something bad? He most probably did, but Necomir understands that he wasn’t the one talking, it was the entity inside him. Maybe he was just worried that if something like this happened again, Sebi would not remember and he would have to face grave consequences. EVoxmJ

“Don’t worry, Neco,” Sebi smiled. “I know you got me good psychologists, I’ll soon get better and not be troubled by weird episodes–”

“No,” Necomir frowned slightly. “It’s just that, when you were… different… you said something.”

Sebi felt his heart start pounding like crazy. He felt the entity start chuckling deeply – sinister. Anger rushed through him as he began to silently press down the entity, demanding an answer.

“What the hell did you say to Neco?!” KwihoI

“Oh, you don’t know?”

“Tell me!”

“It’s your fault for not remembering~”

“You…” whyMNR

“I did you a service, Decebal. Don’t worry about it. Now that he’s talking about it means that I was successful.”

“But why won’t you just tell me the truth?!”

“To remind you of your place. I am not here to convenience you.”

Annoyance bothered Sebi, his telekinesis starting to go haywire again and causing the table to slightly shake. zNOJZd

But before Necomir could say something, the food suddenly arrived. Startled, Sebi was quick to calm down before he could lose control.

“Neco…” Sebi spoke up once the waiters left. “Could you tell me… what I said back then?”

Necomir stared at him for a few moments, looking like he was contemplating what he should say. After a while, he finally sighed and shook his head.

“Just forget it… let’s eat and go back, okay?” FPsqhd

  1. Thanks for the chapter, just in case you didn’t notice but I think you misnumbered your chapters as Chapter 42 is missing and that it skips straight to chapter 43 after chapter 41 ends. I also found a small typo in this chapter:

“After changing into casual clothes and meeting up, Necomir took Necomir out of the campus to one of the nearby food houses.” I think the second Necomir should be Sebi instead?
