Story of Another UsCh44 - Something’s Wrong

Necomir knew there was definitely something wrong with Sebi. His eyes looked unnatural, and his face had a strange wanton expression that looked really alluring but misplaced.

This wasn’t the Sebi he knew. H05Z14

And yet, he couldn’t stop his breath from becoming a bit ragged as his eyes strayed to Sebi’s lips, incredibly enticed.

“Sebi,” Necomir gently said, his voice low and a bit husky. “Is this really you?”

Sebi abruptly stopped, taken aback. It took him awhile before he burst out laughing as he leaned away.

“No wonder Decebal Yan likes you very much, you’re so astute,” Sebi laughed in amusement. “He’d be happy to know that if one day he loses his hold of this vessel, there will be someone who would know.” hWmSBH

Necomir’s eyebrows furrowed as he angrily grabbed Sebi’s shirt, heart beating from this impostor’s words yet he ignored it.

“Don’t you dare!” he exclaimed. “Bring him back to me!”

“What’s to bring back?” Sebi smiled mischievously as he pushed Necomir away.

The taller man grunted as he hit the wall. Necomir felt a bit dizzy from the impact, so he had to shake his head to get back his bearings.

“Listen, Augustine Necomir Aquila.”

Upon looking up, Necomir was greeted by the sight of Sebi’s eyes slowly inking into red. His voice also began to separate, like there were two people talking over each other.

“I am Decebal Yan. We are the same, we cannot be separated. Your Sebi is pathetic and wishes to be like other mortals, while I embody our true potential.”

Necomir’s eyes widened as he tried to make sense of what was happening.  XsR1y

“And when we finally unlock our full power, we will avenge against that treacherous Qhysion and rule over the universe!”

Maniacal laughter spilled out of Sebi’s lips as his telekinetic powers pulsed around him.

Necomir gritted his teeth as he decided to put an end to this.

So drunk in his mirth, Sebi didn’t notice how Necomir suddenly pulled something out of his pocket. Only when he suddenly felt a strong current of shock rush through his body did Sebi look at Necomir in surprise before he fell to the ground, unconscious. KY5wH1

The pulsing energy around him stopped.

Necomir put away the taser gun in his hand back into his pocket and gently picked Sebi up, laying him down on the bed. His mood was grim and complicated as he silently tried to figure out what was happening.

Could it be… that Sebi had a dissociative identity order?

Sebi was an orphan, and he was already in elementary age when he was adopted by the Headmaster. Necomir didn’t know what he had suffered, but all he knew was that Sebi was already very powerful when they met him. A normal ability user would have gradual progression, but if they were already more powerful than the average, then perhaps there are psychological implications. He had read research about how a child being powerful could be because of abuse and trauma, when the mind is forced to produce a defensive system to protect the person.  MTSljC

It also happens that dissociative identity disorder works this way.

A person with a painful childhood riddled with trauma and abuse might develop alters, or “personalities” in order to somehow cope. By dissociating from an event or situation that pains them, they can maintain the health of the main consciousness. The alters are there to be buffers and help the main consciousness cope.

But how could he ignore how Sebi’s eyes turned red? How all that energy pulsed around him? He also didn’t hallucinate how Sebi’s facial expressions, voice and manner of speaking was vastly different from the usual.

“N-Neco?”

Sebi’s soft voice brought Necomir out of his thoughts. When he saw Sebi’s brown eyes gazing at him in confusion, Necomir immediately felt his heart tremble.

“Neco, what’s wrong?” Sebi asked in surprise when Necomir suddenly bent down and leaned his forehead against his shoulder.  5tYN8a

“Sebi,” Necomir mumbled. “Did you know what just happened?”

He pursed his lips.

Sebi didn’t know. Everything was just dark, and he could only hear the garbled voice of the entity inside him. Sebi felt dread run through his veins when he realized… that the entity must have taken over him and spoke nonsense to Necomir.

“Neco…” Sebi carefully spoke. “Could you… do me a favor and… forget what I…I told you?” xXsPbG

That entity was a parasite inside of him that could see through his very being. Who knew what kind of things it had told  Necomir? He couldn’t take any chances.

“Forget?”

Necomir’s voice was low as he sat up again. He looked serious as he grabbed Sebi’s hand and said, “Forget? How could I forget?!”

“Because something is wrong with me!” Sebi cried out, tears welling in his eyes. “Do you understand, Neco? There’s a parasite inside of me, and I-I don’t know what to do! It keeps haunting me and trying to make me destroy things! It knows how to make me become even stronger, and I can feel it trying to gain control of me. I-If someone else knows, I m-might…” xmetrw

Sebi gulped down his anxiety.

“…be killed…”

Necomir felt really distressed upon hearing the fear in Sebi’s voice. He felt even more distressed when Sebi got to such a violent conclusion, not even leaving himself any hope.

Sebi had momentarily forgotten that he was not in the Eastern Earth Base anymore. It was not like in his past life when anyone affected by slime from the alien species that invaded the planet would slowly rot away and exude fumes that spread to others, so they had to be killed immediately and their bodies burned in an incinerator. There was no cure to be offered, only relief from worldly suffering. j9W8In

“Sebi, don’t be so pessimistic like that,” Necomir comforted him as he took the courage to reach out and gently cup Sebi’s cheek. “You’ll be okay, no one is going to hurt you. If we tell the Headmaster about this, she’ll definitely help you. We won’t tell anyone else.”

Sebi nodded, seemingly calmer as he sighed softly and nuzzled his cheek against Necomir’s cheek. He looked like a little kitten, especially as he gazed fondly at the other.

Necomir really wanted to lean in and hug him, then maybe… just maybe… those lips…

“Neco?” Sebi called out. endN30

“Hmm?” Necomir hummed as he held himself back from doing something crazy.

“Thank you,” Sebi smiled warmly. “You’re always so good to me.”

Necomir stiffly nodded, weak to the enticing and sticky way of Sebi expressing himself. He had to muster all his willpower not to give in and just bare all the repressed feelings inside of him right then and there, possibly scaring him.

“You’re important to me,” he finally managed to say. giQldX

Necomir made good of his word and took the liberty to tell the Headmaster about Sebi’s condition immediately the next day. Like he had imagined, Headmaster Juno looked grave as she listened to him intently.

“Poor Sebi…” she sighed as she massaged her temple. “But come to think of it, this is very much expected. Sebi had a brain injury, his powers began growing immensely, and to be honest, I have no idea what happened to him before he was picked up by the orphanage since he couldn’t remember anything about his formative years.”

Necomir felt worried not only for Sebi, but now for the Headmaster as well. She was a busy woman, and now her adoptive son has shown signs of problems again. She could only have enough on her plate, especially because there were only two of them in their family.

“I can ask my sister to recommend any good psychologist who can deal with a psychic like Sebi,” Necomir offered. “Sebi’s case is sensitive, we have to choose what’s best for him.” PHQt4a

“You’re right,” Headmaster Juno nodded, her mood lightening up. “Can I trouble you for help, Necomir? I trust that you Aquilas would have better connections than I do. Of course, our deal stands plus I will compensate you well.”

That was true. Necomir may not be that active in the business of the family, but he was capable enough to have mingled here and there and established useful connections.

“Don’t worry, Headmaster,” Necomir smiled as he stood up. “Just promise your son to me, and I won’t ask for anything else.”

Those bold words suddenly startled the Headmaster, who could only gape as this young adult seemed to exude a strange, overbearing aura around him. KcEOW3

“You…”

“You don’t mind, do you, Headmaster?” Necomir wondered.

Headmaster Juno continued to gape at him in disbelief before bursting out laughing.

“You’ve got guts, directly allying with your mother-in-law,” she mused as she tapped her finger rhythmically against the table. “Does Sebi even feel the same way as you do? Mind you, I haven’t schooled him enough about the matters of romance. His coma has not given his mentality enough time to mature on his own as well.” 2ng4GB

“I won’t pressure him, I’ll back off until he accepts me,” Necomir smiled humbly.

Reassured, the Headmaster waved her hand and dismissed the young man, sighing as she wistfully thought about how it was good to be young.

Although Necomir was reliable, she still needed to find the time to subtly warn Sebi about wolves stalking around and yearning for him.

Meanwhile, the said person whose mentality has not matured well found himself in a weird situation. jPylCt

Bellona may be hot-tempered and reckless, but she was usually patient especially if the situation had a social relationship on the line.

But this situation was different, especially when it had to do with an important groupwork for a general education course. In this case, Bellona can’t rein in her explosiveness anymore.

“You understand, right?” The shameless senior smiled as he gestured a hand at his girlfriend who was also their groupmate, busy using hers lightband next to him. “We have a lot of things to do, so we’ll have to rely on you.”

“Wait wait! Seniors, excuse me for being disrespectful,” Bellona waved a hand in disbelief. “But, what the fuck? You can’t possibly just rely on us with everything on this groupwork!” pxzDkR

Sebi furrowed his eyebrows and looked troubled as well.

The senior’s face screwed in irritation once he figured out these angelic-looking juniors weren’t intimidated by him.

“Hey, do you not know who I am?” he suddenly hardened his tone. “Show some respect. Just do the groupwork.”

“And? If you were someone important, shouldn’t you be scared we know who you are because you are hinting at how dumb you actually are?” Bellona spat at him. 1ATOvS

Sebi quickly tried to quell the hostility upon seeing that the senior looked ready to pummel Bellona. “Let’s all calm down, okay? Senior, this is an important groupwork. Letting us deal with everything might endanger the overall output especially during the defense–”

“Fuck your shit!” the senior angrily stood up and flung his arm, suddenly shoving the table over the side, causing people in the classroom to scream. It seemed like he was also a telekinetic. “Why do you losers talk so much?! What’s so wrong with handling it all on your own! You really have to piss me off?!”

“What the hell?!” Bellona shouted after Sebi managed to save themselves from getting whacked in the face. “So you’re that stupid Nick Hanson with telekinesis but no damn sense in his sorry excuse of a brain?!”

Nick’s face scrunched into a really ugly expression. This person was actually famous in school for his bad temper and violent tendencies, but he does not really get into trouble because his father was part of the board of directors. His girlfriend had the sense to hurriedly try to calm him down, but it was no use as even she was pushed to the side into a crowd of onlookers. vB2rZF

“You’re crazy!” Bellona shrieked. “Where is the professor?! You need to be expelled, you psycho!”

Nick fumed as he lifted his arm, but suddenly stopped as he smiled before straightening his back. “Whatever, I’ll let you people off since you are young and naive,” Nick called out to her girlfriend. “Minhee, let’s go.”

“Go away,” Minhee coldly said as she picked up her things. “You’ve done it this time, you psycho.”

The onlookers awkwardly stared as Minhee crossed the room and stalked out of the door. They thought that was the last of such a mess. W8sxuL

Until Nick suddenly reached out a hand, about to use his telekinesis against his girlfriend.

Sebi was quick to move, making Nick stumble to the side as Sebi made him seeing his arm to the side.

“You!” Nick growled in anger, face red. “You’re really testing my patience! You really don’t understand who you’re dealing with!”

“Should I be afraid?” Sebi taunted. Bellona turned to her friend, surprised to hear those words from him. Just a while ago he’d been doing his best to de-escalate the situation, but now… Qo28d6

“Sebi!” she called out, reaching for him, but Sebi only glanced at her coolly before continuing. He had no intention of backing down.

“Nick Hanson,” Sebi grinned sinisterly as he suddenly began hovering over the ground. Rows of tables and chairs started moving around him, making all the other people inside the room rush out of the door in a flurry.

“Let me see how powerful you really are for you to demand that I do the work for your pathetic self, alright?”
