Before Sebi could attempt to deal damage on him again, Necomir suddenly flinched and lifted his arm. He pressed the surface of his lightband, then Bellona’s face suddenly appeared.
“You guys!” she excitedly exclaimed as she showed them a wad of colorful papers that seemed to be tickets.
“What are those?” Necomir asked.
“Tickets for the Haunted Laboratory specially prepared by the council!” Bellona answered. “Come over, I’ve got enough for a couple of people!”
Sebi was unsure about this, but he still found himself lining up in front of the said haunted booth with his friends. Alexandra, Light, and Aristotle couldn’t make it, but the usual squad was there, featuring an angry Misharu.
“Why do I have to get in there!” he shouted at Akhenaten, attracting stares from other students.
“It’s gonna be fun, trust me,” Akhenaten grinned wolfishly.
Misharu rolled his eyes, certainly aware he shouldn’t trust him.
Sebi could only peer at them from over Necomir’s shoulder in amusement. Despite Misharu’s temper, he was getting along well with Akhenaten, who was able to hold Misharu’s hand all through this.
Impressive, Sebi definitely respected Akhenaten even more now. Not only did he manage to get a diamond ring out of Misharu Tsai, but he could also even hold him.
“Ahhhh, Chunmi!” Bellona pouted as she clung to the shorter girl, acting coquettish. “What should I do? I’m chickening out!”
“You won those tickets, don’t waste them,” Chunmi said.
“But I’m scared!”
Sebi stared at the exterior of the booth. Based on the “haunted” label, it should be something scary. This made him question Terrarians – did they find joy in scaring themselves, treating this kind of thing like an amusement park ride? He wanted to know, but he couldn’t ask anyone in fear of inciting weird looks and questioning since it’s impossible for the original Sebi to possibly not know something like this.

“Fools,” Necomir uttered.
Sebi glanced at him. “Neco, are you scared?”
Necomir flinched, looking flustered as he furrowed his eyebrows and said, “W-Why should I?”
“You’re right, they aren’t scary,” Sebi smiled cutely. “In fact, I’m scarier than them.”
Technically that was true since Sebi had the ability, but Necomir’s brain could only process Sebi acting cute for him.
Misharu and Akhenaten were the first ones to enter. As expected, Misharu began screaming his head off the moment the ghosts began to come.
“Is it that scary?” Sebi mumbled in curiosity. As someone who has never come across this sort of thing, he didn’t know what to expect at all. Will there be fake supernatural things inside? Aliens? Monsters? Black holes? What did humans of the Terra Star System even find scary? They don’t even seem fazed by ghosts.
After a while, Bellona and Chunmi were up next. It didn’t take long for Bellona to start screaming her head off as well.
“I want to see them,” Sebi snickered before the guard at the front ushered for them to enter. “Oh, it seems like it’s our turn!”
Reaching out, Sebi held Necomir’s hand and pulled him into the building.
“Oh,” the shorter uttered as he slowly moved his eyes around and assessed the area. The place definitely looked like a laboratory, with tube-like containers similar to the one where Sebi had been stored during his coma. The difference was that the liquid was orange, giving the area an eerie glow despite it being terribly dark. Bodies were also stored inside, and some of them didn’t look human.
Sebi nodded. Darkness was definitely a universal fear.
“Neco, we should advance slowly so that we don’t get too spooked–” Sebi suddenly realized something and turned to Necomir. “Hey! Do you think you can predict the things that will– um, Neco?”
It was dark, but Sebi could see Necomir’s face due to the nearby glow of the tubes. The taller man didn’t look quite good. He looked pale, like he wanted to puke, and his hand trembled the slightest bit. His eyebrows were furrowed as he seemed to attempt to collect his composure.
Sebi narrowed his eyes and didn’t know what to think of it. “Neco, are you okay?”
Necomir’s Adam’s apple bobbed a few times before he waved his hand. His voice came out hoarse when he said, “I’m fine.”
Sebi nodded, then realized that he was still holding Necomir’s hand. He flinched upon realizing this and moved to pull his hand away, but Necomir was faster and pulled Sebi away.
The first haunt immediately came. Necomir might have been too anxious to use his ability properly, because when a monstrous creature suddenly appeared with a loud roar and charged after them with its spindly, grotesque limbs, Necomir suddenly screamed violently and ran for his life with Sebi in tow.
This was just the start. From then on, jumpscares after jumpscare came to wreck poor Necomir’s heart into weary frightened fragments. Sebi was initially curious about the sights but seeing his companion like this, he could only worry for him, saying, “N-Neco, calm down, stop screaming like that, your throat will be sore-”
But every time he tried saying that, Sebi could only shut up, jolted by Necomir’s endless screaming.
The last portion of the haunt was when the tube containers suddenly broke and out came several ugly monsters with grotesque limbs and bloodied bodies. Necomir looked like he was going to faint, and Sebi began to consider taking Necomir with him and fly towards the exit.
But Necomir proved to still be efficient under immense fear and pressure. He suddenly grabbed Sebi, hauled him up his shoulders and dashed away so fast Sebi swore it was possible for him to have gotten whiplash if his position had been vulnerable to it.
“L-Let me down!” Sebi screamed, hands covering his face in embarrassment. “N-Neco, this is totally–”
Light seeped through the entrance, and finally, the pair left the damned haunted booth.
Necomir quickly put Sebi down, who stared at him in disbelief as all the fear he had inside melted away. Necomir even brushed his clothes and breathed heavily in relief, like he had just been from a rough battle.
“Necomir, I didn’t know you were easily spooked,” Sebi said. His face was straight, but there was obviously teasing in his tone.
The taller man pursed his lips and haughtily crossed his arms. “It was dark, how could I not panic even for just a little bit?”
Sebi chuckled as he quickly swooped in to coax him. “Don’t worry, that’s normal.”
That’s what he said, but Sebi thought differently. Necomir can actually be cute like this!
