Okay, let’s imagine this. Right next to a study lamp and a small table fan, a novel obsessed student would find it in good interest to invest in a face palming machine. As they sit on their chair and smile, about to start reading yet another angsty or face palm inducing sequence, with a smile on their face, they switch on the silicon padded face palm machine. I actually think worse of SXL after this chapter than I did before. I don’t actually believe that he didn’t believe anyone of their status is incapable of rape, he just told himself that to absolve himself of responsibility for not getting involved. There’s no way this “talented businessman” hasn’t seen his share of backstabbing and dirty dealing. He’s just a coward who won’t even admit to himself that he’ll stand by and watch anything happen if the alternative means paying anything.
At his age, it is definitely impossible for him not to understand these things about using one’s status to force them to do something. Especially since he’s been trained since young for the role of successor. Fair enough, he didn’t really have anyone who would have tried any underhanded schemes to kill him or to cause him to lose his right as successor, but that wouldn’t change the fact that he should have learned everything a successful head of a family should learn.
He simply disliked his brother. Because everyone doted on SXH, whilst he had to learn so many things and be a good boy, a good eldest son, a good big brother. He had to give up anything he might have liked and focus only on things that would benefit their family. He had no freedom to have friends, or relatives he could play with, bc he had no time to play as he always had things he needed to learn. He had zero freedom. He was simply an heir. All their family saw him as the heir, whilst his younger brother was free. So he was jealous.
Whilst I might think it might be normal to be jealous, but I also have to say that jealousy leads to too many bad consequences. In the case of SXL, bc of his jealousy towards his younger brother, when he sent him away from home to appease the Xiao family, he let his guard down and let those with ulterior motives approach him. Actually, the whole family was in the wrong for letting him make friends who only seek to benefit from their friendship.

Ah, my theory has been further supported. Xuanlin was the one to kill Lu Chao in the novel, like how OG!SXH died (torn apart in some forest). If SXL is being truthful here, then what he just told SXH was what he did in the novel– temporarily give OG!SXH up and reclaim him later, except OG!SXH became addicted and died (due to LC). SXL was too late.
If I were SXH, I would have simply said ‘since what SJB did isn’t considered a big thing, why don’t you give me your wife so I can send her to someone to train her for you?’
But now that I think about it, he might actually agree to this. As long as his company and his son are OK. What’s a wife anyway? One can get another one if the current one is gone, right? 🙄

The third point, Xuanhe always tattling to Mumu 🤣. And as result Mumu will always be lefy disappointed because he thought it is a “I miss you” call but it is a “Daddy.. look at this trash” lol. Expectation vs reality hit Mumu too hard.

Had to make an account to comment on this. So Mumu made this observation but after SXH the original was killed in the forest. Lu what his face had the same death. Based on what SXL said don’t you think he arranged it since he thinks he would temporarily abandon SXH and then bring him back he would feel massively guilty this would have happened to the little brother he let die? Cause they didn’t know who did it in the original but for sure SXL would have been devastated for failing. Any way just what I thought and on to more drama lol
Tbh, I can relate to SXL. Not the biggest fan of kids and is also the youngest. I have a shitton of relatives so I would understand how he would be awkward with children considering he was also suffering from the pressure of being the first born child, I just felt like SXL is just such a well written character ww, but ofc I would still kill to have big bro xuanlin and smol xuanhe interactions…
