Transmigrating into the Reborn Male Lead's Ex-BoyfriendCh100 - Looking for a Friend

Translated by Eve

Song Xuanhe gave Song Jiani a sign with his eyes as he dodged Zhou Rong. However, Song Jiani was put into a state of shock after hearing Song Xuanhe’s words. For a moment, she was in no frame of mind to pay any attention to his gaze. It wasn’t just her, either. Even Song Jiabao, who had her bound, had a look of incredulity on his face. LpqY26

“You’re angry, but not the least bit surprised. It’s because you already knew, right?” Song Xuanhe continued to provoke Zhou Rong as he evaded the other’s attacks that were blinded by rage. “You knew who the people behind Lu Chao’s death were but you were unwilling to accept the truth. That’s why you came to me and tried to use me as a scapegoat. You tricked yourself into thinking that you would be able to get your revenge and vent your hatred onto me.”

Song Xuanhe dodged to the side, avoiding a punch Zhou Rong had thrown at him. His eyes were curved into a smile and his voice was mellow. “Do you think Lu Chao, who’s down in the underworld, would want you to take revenge for him? Another question— is what you feel for him even love?”

“Shut up!” Zhou Rong threw the syringe out of his hand. He then grabbed a bottle of wine and swung it towards Song Xuanhe.

Song Xuanhe subconsciously moved backwards upon seeing this. However, although Zhou Rong was furious, his anger had not clouded his thoughts. Soon after, he realized what Song Xuanhe was trying to do. As soon as he realized it, he went to pick up the syringe. As expected, Song Xuanhe’s expression changed slightly. rLpdV8

Zhou Rong spoke in a tone that dripped with hatred, “It doesn’t matter who was involved in facilitating Lu Chao’s death. You are the real perpetrator behind this. If it wasn’t because you had embarrassed him publicly, if it wasn’t because you had asked for Lu Yue to be brought back, Chao zi would never have died. Therefore, as long as you die, I know that Chao zi will thank me.”

Song Xuanhe stood before him, face-to-face. There was a bit of a distance between them. They were both looking for an opportunity to put an end to the deadlock they were in.

Zhou Rong watched every flicker of emotion on Song Xuanhe’s face. The hatred in his eyes nearly spilled out of his eye sockets. Then, he suddenly smiled. He said, “I almost forgot. You’re not the only one I can take revenge on. It’s the same if I were to take revenge on Song Jiani. If we really think about it, Song Jiani is the one to blame.”

“If it wasn’t because Chao zi liked her, none of this would have ever happened. If she didn’t like you, none of this would have ever happened. I used to think that you didn’t care about her. But now it looks like she’s somewhat useful. It does make sense. When you were young, you didn’t pay attention to anyone but Song Jiani. Why did I think she wasn’t important to you?

iWY na

“Tell me, Song Xuanhe. If Song Jiani were to end up with a life-long addiction because of you, would you blame yourself and regret your actions? How long would you feel this regret? Would you regret it for the rest of your life?”

Zhou Rong’s smile grew as he said this. He walked over to Song Jiani. He ignored her flailing arms, eyes glowing as he looked at Song Xuanhe. “Time will tell.”

“You’re a man. What’s the point of doing this to a girl?” Song Xuanhe took a step forward but stopped when he saw Zhou Rong bring the needle closer to Song Jiani’s arm. “I was the person who caused Lu Chao’s death. If you want revenge, come at me. Why take it out on outsiders?”

“Song Jiani isn’t an outsider.” Zhou Rong remained unmoved. He even patted Song Jiani’s arm. He carefully looked for her vein as he said in a casual tone, “A femme fatale. I get it now. Hey, Song Xuanhe, maybe you’ll thank me for not injecting this into you when you’re enjoying life with the eldest young master of the Xiao Family in the future.” fsd wQ

When Zhou Rong saw that the liquid in the syringe had disappeared, the smile on his face grew even brighter. He looked at Song Xuanhe. “How about it? Are you happy that someone took your place?”

Song Xuanhe looked at the person who had suddenly appeared at the door and smiled. “Yeah, I’m ecstatic. Because I know that you’re going to be really unhappy really soon.” i8D29E

Zhou Rong was taken aback. Before he could react, he heard Song Jiabao scream in pain. Before he could turn to see what was going on, he was restrained, the syringe in his hand tumbling onto the ground. Because the floor was carpeted, it didn’t make a sound as it fell.

Song Jiani’s body slumped over. She covered the area of injection with a hand, frozen in shock. Her face was deathly pale.

“What’s going on?” Guan Zhi walked in, kicking Zhou Rong, who had turned to look at him. He then said to Song Xuanhe, “Instead of eating with me, you came to fight with these guys?”

“You followed me?” Song Xuanhe glanced at Guan Zhi and then looked at Wei Chen, who was directing the bodyguards. “When did you meet up with him?” 0ZjQh6

Wei Chen was leaning against the wall, a cigarette between his lips. When he heard Song Xuanhe speak, his lips curled into a smile. “And here I thought Er shao would pretend like he didn’t see me.”

“When I saw someone bring a box in, I had thought that you were doing some kind of illegal deal. Although I’m not a Chinese citizen, I couldn’t sit back and watch this happen. Besides, you owe me a meal. That’s why I called Wei Chen over.” Guan Zhi pouted. He didn’t really want to talk about Wei Chen.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Song Xuanhe ignored Wei Chen’s words. He replied to Guan Zhi: “In other words, you’ve been following me since we split.”

Guan Zhi blinked, his tender face appearing extremely innocent. “You said that you had something important to do so I wanted to see if it was really more important than eating with me. u5SO x

“Now that I’ve seen what you’ve been up to, I think that you might as well have stayed with me.”

Song Xuanhe glanced at him before walking over to Song Jiani. He squatted down. He had been about to reach out to help her up when he paused. “Are you okay?”

Song Jiani shook her head and sobbed. “I don’t know. I…don’t feel any different right now. I heard that people would hallucinate or experience a high when taking drugs. But I don’t feel anything right now. Is it because the new drug is just that impressive?”

After taking in Song Jiani’s tear-streaked face that was filled with despair, Song Xuanhe fell silent. Just as he was about to speak up, he heard Zhou Rong say, “This drug is extremely slow-acting but it’s really effective. Trust me, you’ll fall in love with it in a bit.” iMdn0u

Song Jiani’s despair deepened. She hugged her legs and started to cry.

Song Xuanhe turned around and punched Zhou Rong in the face. When he saw the proud look in the other’s eyes after spitting out a mouthful of blood, Song Xuanhe’s lips twitched. He then turned to look at Song Jiabao.

“Except for the fact that I beat you up once, it’s not like there’s a particular deep grudge between us,” Song Xuanhe said, “Why do you keep making trouble for me? You even risked going to prison to team up with Zhou Rong.”

Song Jiabao had already given up all hope upon seeing Guan Zhi and Wei Chen. When he heard Song Xuanhe’s words and Song Jiani’s sobs, a sense of accomplishment from having gotten revenge emerged in his chest. His tumultuous mind regained some semblance of calm. “We won’t end up in prison. You’re wrong to think we will. Let me tell you, even if the police come, it’s useless. This syringe is special. The syringe will clean itself if there’s less than 0.5 ml of liquid inside of it. You won’t find any traces of it in the syringe. Even if you send it to a lab, nothing will be discovered. You have no way of sending us to prison.” r2aItF

“You said that we have no grudge between us?” Song Jiabao sneered, “Since you were born, everyone around you has adored you and praised you. Everything good has always been taken by you. I want to know why. If you were as outstanding as Xuanlin ge, I wouldn’t care, but the only thing you have going for you is that you were lucky enough to be born into a good family. You can’t do anything. So why must I be beneath you? Why is it that even the person I like likes you?”

“I orchestrated the Sun Jinren thing because Mr. Song has promised that he would set-up Song Jiani and me if I was able to successfully complete my task.” Song Jiabao looked at Song Jiani who was curled up, crying. He grit his teeth, “But she’s never looked at me, not even once. She’s always revolved around you. Even if you disdain her, she won’t give up. When we were young, I gave her a piece of candy. She had smiled at me, so I had thought that she liked me. But a second later, she turned around and gave it to you. It’s the same even after we’ve grown up. Tell me, why do you think I hate you?”

Song Xuanhe didn’t know how to describe what he felt upon meeting Song Jiabao’s expression that was filled with hatred.

Based on what Zhou Rong and Song Jiabao had just said, Song Xuanhe summarized the following: Except for Xiao Yuanmu’s influence, everything that had happened to the original host near the end of the book had been because of Song Jiani. 6ubnNJ

Even the System was shocked for a second:【So Song Jiabao also likes Song Jiani! Just how good-looking is Song Jiani in human standards?】

Song Xuanhe was quiet for a moment. He then turned back around to face Song Jiani. He patted her on the shoulder, doing a pretty awful job at comforting her.

When Song Jiani looked up at him with a face full of tears, he frowned. He couldn’t help but admit that Song Jiani’s appearance and temperament was indeed top-class. Even after crying so hard, she didn’t look ugly at all.

“Are you okay?” o63QEd

Song Jiani sobbed but didn’t speak.

Guan Zhi had watched this the whole time. He asked, “What’s wrong with her? What’s that thing on the ground?”

Song Jiani’s sobs grew louder and her body began to shake.

Song Xuanhe parted his lips, about to reply. However, before he could speak, the door was once again pushed open. Zhou Nan walked in with a bunch of people. When he saw Guan Zhi, Wei Chen and the room full of bodyguards, he was startled. “Did I come too late or too early?” N6tfxJ

When Song Xuanhe saw the other’s sweaty forehead and nervous expression, he swallowed down the words he was about to say. Instead, he said, “The situation has been dealt with.”

Zhou Nan sighed in relief. “What about the drug? Where did you put it? I brought the major crime unit. They’ll take it back and look into it.”

Zhou Rong sneered when he heard this. He was about to speak when he heard Song Xuanhe say: “It’s in the box by the door.”

Everyone in the room was taken aback. Even Song Jiani stopped crying. She looked up at Song Xuanhe, stunned. MuIetv

Song Xuanhe picked up the box that had been haphazardly thrown to one side. He pressed down on the seemingly empty box and a small compartment suddenly appeared. A syringe emerged before everyone’s eyes.

Zhou Rong’s sneer froze on his face. A second later, he seemed to realize what had happened. His eyeballs nearly popped out of his sockets. “Impossible!”

Song Jiani’s expression was blank. She wiped her tears and asked in a hoarse voice, “Isn’t there only one syringe?”

Song Xuanhe nodded and handed the box over to the police officers behind Zhou Nan. He smiled at her, “That’s right.” wsHPqo

Song Jiani was filled with hope. In a tone of disbelief she said, “Then the one from earlier….”

Song Xuanhe spat out two words: “Was fake.”

Eve: Finally the Zhou Rong plot line is wrapping up. Phew~ But SXH, regardless of everything, not very nice of you to put SJN through this emotional turmoil. But then again, he did try to get her out of it so it is kind of still her own fault. But she was also trying to help him…ah dilemmas.

  1. Eve! SJN frustrated me so many times! Xuanhe literally gave her a few chances to escape and shes like “NO, I’m rescuing you!” and just made everything more difficult!

But I am glad to be done with Zhou Rong and hopefully Song Jiabao!

I’m still in missing Mumu hours.

Thanks for the chapter! It made my isolation so much better ^-^

    • every female characters in action story/movie who can’t fight always do this. I wonder why they still do that even after knowing they’ll dragging down MC grabbing hair in frustration why not runaway for a while and grab anything as weapon??? (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

      • +6, i have always disliked characters who refuse to exit the situation even though they clearly can’t do anything to help the situation and end up getting in the way or becoming a stumbling block, like unless u r planning to be a human shield SCRAM!

        • +7 Me too. Tbh, if you truly care about the other person you should be able to see his ability to handle to situation. Not only trust or cowardice in the picture. I won’t be annoyed to death if those had stayed because they had faith the guy will die facing them, so she might as well stay to die together. What made me laugh out of frustration is that the female character (that usually bad with fight, clumsy and annoying tsundere or whatever) believed when she stay, the both of them can win the fight! Bloody hell. Like this f***er here. She can’t even determine how much of upper hands Xuanhe had, and then keep on thinking “I can save him”, “I can help him”, when what she do is burdening. She isn’t even prepared to die together. Laughable.
      • +3333333

Jiani here tho has some information from her ‘memories’ that could help if she just said from the start “Let’s get out of here, they’ll drug you.” but nah, she goes on with “go home, he’ll hurt you, your mother called me.” She should’ve used her only advantage…

        • I’m also thinking hard about THIS! just why girl whyyyyy, shouting is so simple….

((maybe she felt regret abt her dreaming/joining them, or afraid that it’ll make ZR crazier… made me want to open her brain to know the reason)

    • +1 And she even joined the plot in the OG timeline with the mindset that she would emerge as Song Xuanhe’s saviour. 🙁

Even though many of her actions have been frustrating, I would like to applaud her even just a lil bit in this life for taking heed of her “dream”.

    • To be honest, in that situation where you have done something to put someone you care about in danger, and they tell you to run away, would your conscience let you? No. You’d be too riddled with guilt to do anything except try to make amends in the situation by going through your self-made hell together.

      • I disagree. Even if I had put us both in that position, I am smart enough to know that I would bring no help to Xuanhe. I would have known that I was simply hindering any chance he had of fighting back and I would have realized that the biggest chance for me to help him (and myself) was to escape and seek help.

likewise, when my brother almost got jumped by a gang of high schoolers, I knew that if I left him, he would have been in more trouble than if I stayed. Therefore I stayed, yelled, and stopped them from knocking him down and prevented any injury to either of us.

        • Your comment reminded me of something. She was really not useful LOL I would have been like a lunatic. Restrained arms? Headbutt him or knee him. BITE HIM. Hell, stamp on his foot with your heel. There were objects the room. Use them. If you’re gonna participate, go all out. I don’t like violence but if someone I cared about was in danger I’d act like a feral animal.

  2. Lol yo i was kinda worried for her, she’s annoying but my heart still heart. Thank God it is a fake, lol y’all assholes think you could get away with it, now you gonna die in jail especially after hubby hear about it. Yo you really that desperate, just say you weren’t good enough, you can’t force someone to like you

    • Me too I was worried for her, she wasn’t the most useful help to Song Xuanhe during the fight but she tried the best she could, plus I don’t think our mc would have been able to get over the guilt of letting her get such a long lasting kind of hurt, plus I don’t wish the crap of addiction on anyone… not even on villains. So, good for you, Song Jiani! Kudos to He bao for thinking of everything!! bows to our mc

    • +1. It’s not easy to make logical pressing decisions with several shocking turn of events. I could only imagine, especially if one isn’t trained for that kind of dangerous, pressing situations 😅

      • +1 on this thread. We obviously know she ain’t smart and also unless you have personal experience in high stress life or death situations, y’all can’t say you wouldn’t be dumb as rocks like her. But you can’t say you’d be as brave as her too. She took a life-threatening drug for him dude. Would you have in that situation? She made it harder yes, but I’m with empathizing with her and also kinda amazed with her tbh. And the writing to giving us another dimension to her character. She really does love him.

  3. Even the System was shocked for a second:【So Song Jiabao also likes Song Jiani! Just how good-looking is Song Jiani in human standards?】

    😂😂

ah but I’m so glad Song Jiani will be okay TvT Thank you for the chapter!

  4. ahh, never have i ever been happier for this plot twist~ a satisfying cliffhanger

Happy 100th chapter~ this series is life

    Thank you very much💕

  5. Thanks for the chapter! I hate when the childish feelings like Jiabao’s are the reasons of awful things….

    Missing Mumu too <3

  6. so Zhou Rong, you are also the one at fault for Lu Chao’s death… because you can’t save him right? because you don’t try to stay beside him… that’s why he dead… pls look at the mirror first, okay… or maybe he can’t because his brain is too mushy…

    and Xuanhe baby, you can’t play with Mama’s heart like this…😭😭😭 demo, yokatta nee~ ( ◜‿◝ )

    • Yeah, if Zhou Rong thinks Song Xuanhe is to blame for Song Jiani having made Lu Chao try to harm Xiao Yuanmu, then Zhou Rong himself would be to blame for liking Lu Chao enough to induce his own father to decide to get rid of him… This guy’s logic’s gone to the dogs.

  7. Thanks for your hard work!

Wow, I can’t understand this kind of obsessive “love” that turns to hatred just because the other person doesn’t love you back. 🤦🏻‍♀️ If it was actual love, Song Jiabao would never be able to stand by and even hold Jiani while she’s injected with a drug that would basically “end” her life. What a d*ckwad!

    • I thought the same thing. He never protested to Zhou Rong’s sudden change of intended victim… This Jiabao guy brings misfortune even to the person he likes! He’s a darn plague wherever he goes!

  8. Eh, if you’re only going to be adding to the problem, then by all means, just gtfo there man. I really cannot with all this brainless character. Also SJB, you speak as if you’re so good in everything, nothing you ever did amounted to anything but somehow you think the world should revolves around you? Can we break his other limbs? He wouldn’t need them anyway. ZR is a total idiot. If, if, if, there is no ifs in this world. No one is responsible for your own life choices, LC chose his, and he died for it.

Man, this three, just stuff them into a room and let them kill each other. It’ll be good riddance.

  9. I thought the thing about Zhou Rong’s dad was just Song Xuanhe’s bluff to buy more time… I can’t believe it was actually true! So father and son are both murderous and nasty… and Song Jiabao too… (dude, wasn’t that the girl you supposedly liked, you know… getting attacked right there…?! ). At least Song Guochao is not this bad, capable of killing people and all (…so far?). I want Xiao Shenglin to come back and pour his light of goodness and decency all over the text once again, he’s the only character whose personality seems “pure” enough to wash out the “aftertaste” left by these lowlives… (and Xiao Ranyun too! Ironic how the ones that I think sound like the most “innocent-minded” characters in the whole story, are actually part of the Xiao Family, hehe.

P.s. Thanks for the chapter! I don’t blame He bao for Jiani’s brief turmoil, what counts is that he saved her by thinking of everything in advance. tears of joyful pride that our He bao’s forward thinking thoroughness was what ended up saving her life

  10. SJN is the kind of female lead i hate the most in anime. “No, I woUld nOt RuN!!” girl we telling u to run cuz u useless. Well i am glad at least she isnt the female lead here. Lol

  11. I know everyone is feeling sad for SJN’s emotional turmoil but she was involved in past SXH’s death. Nope I am feeling anything for her.

  12. I am glad its over and everything is fine…..Though just where are the guys sent to watch over SXH by YXM?

Look XYM! the beauty was saved by WC and GZ!

  13. Well I guess we will take this as her having paid back the wrongs she’s done. Now time to find a new man who wants you kay?

Thanks for the great translation ♥️

  14. I was really worried 😶 and then ‘oh it’s fake’. Not that it was really fake, it could’ve been dangerous but.. it felt like that. But I’m still glad Jiani is fine. De wanted to help after all 😊

    I miss mumu (⋟﹏⋞)

Thank you for the chapter 🥰💕💕

  15. I’m glad the syringe was fake but SJNs presence was annoying, it’s good to want help but people should realize when their presence is making things worse and leave before they become too burdensome.

  16. Song Xuanhe is so cool ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

I so love that he isn’t just a damsel in distress. He takes care of matters with his own hands with the support of his friends.

Sorry I can’t say anything else which would make more sense since I’m so overwhelmed with the recent chapters especially this one. It feels like the breath that I had been holding for too long in my lungs finally made its way out~

    Big sigh of relief

In another parallel dimension, this would’ve been a novel revolving Song Jiani… Such a dog blood plot with her as MC. Who would have thought that, peopleee???

    Thanks for the update! 💕

  17. I love this novel so much! Ahhhh~

    Thanks for the great translation.

  18. I agree that this was just plain mean. Poor Song Jiani — sure they’d told her to leave,,, but did Song Xuanhe really have to traumatize her like that. This is a situation where both of them are terrible I guess.

    Happy 100th chapter! 🎉

  19. Am I the only one who doesn’t feel bad for her? Even though she knew things were dangerous, she didn’t tell him everything wanting to rescue him & have him fall in love with her in gratitude. He has made it clear over & over that he does not like her & she doesn’t give it a rest. It’s harassment, plain & simple. Even her help is tainted with scheming & I just can’t take her anymore. Let’s not forget she ruined og!MC & this time it’s only because of dreams & the plot moving differently that she didn’t take the same path again. It’s not a crime to say no. Its not a crime to not love someone back. No one owes you love, regardless of how strong your love is. You loving someone does not justify you doing all that as revenge for rejection. & All MC did was delay telling her the truth. Which I honestly feel was necessary or she would never give up that last bit of hope. I feel like if that wasn’t done, she wouldn’t open her eyes to the fact that there is zero chance between them. Ever. Sorry about the rant🙈

    Thank you for the chapter!!💜💜💜

  20. Guan Zhi blinked, his tender face appearing extremely innocent. “You said that you had something important to do so I wanted to see if it was really more important than eating with me.

    Guan Zhi pouting was adorable~

  21. Wew, I don’t like Song Jiani. She cause trouble wether she’s doing it consciously or not.

    Thank you for the chapter!!

  22. I was so relieved for SJN even though I don’t like her one bit. That just proves that as long as you’re good to our He bao, show him goodwill, we’ll naturally pity you. +I like seeing women characters and hate to see them sacrifice and die for protagonists

  23. A syringe that cleans itself? Um…sure. I’m giving it a pass, as that’s the first time my BS meter has gone off for this story.

Thanks for the chapters. It really is an amazing story.

    • sigh why do I have a soft spot for any female character that gets a good amount of screen time in these novels. They could be so annoying and I’d still get annoyed when someone talks bad about them even though they have every reason too… even I would say mean stuff but I can’t help it girls are just ugh

  24. I must say that is kind better character development of SJN. Usually in bl stories if there is female character who will go to any limit just to get the person (MC/ML) they like and then later end with being destroyed.

  25. I thought mc would be struck with a syringe 😅

It’s also good though that nothing happened and help arrived immediately and mc’s such a mastermind~ wonder when and how he swapped the drugs

  26. I really hope parents can teach their children this one f things, when ppl ask u to go and search for help, no matter whether u can resolve it urself or not, please just go and dont be f stupid like her oh god.. Idc whatever excuse there is, it just my point is parents should teach their children this kind of things from little, run and get help is the only way u can be save like rlly, dont jz stay and make urself as a variable for the perpetrator (?) 👀

  27. I think I can pity SJN a lil LOL. she has obv been pampered by her family and never understood clues given SXH.

she’s just a lil too obsessed HAHAHAHA. otherwise ig she’s still innocent/simple minded. (in the sense that she never expected that to hurt someone, ppl would use drugs.)

  28. Ok, what is going on here?

    Thank You for the chapter ♡(˃͈ દ ˂͈ ༶ )
