With a groan Kloh reached over and silenced the fourth and final set alarm to go off. Usually by alarm number two Lee would’ve yelled at him to wake his ass up, therefore forgoing the next two. But they no longer lived together. Not that he didn’t want to still be roommates. But Lee’s father wasn’t entirely comfortable with an alpha, especially a new one sleeping in the same room as his precious omega son. Kloh could understand the reasoning but it still sucked that he couldn’t even live with his best friend now.This was another mark against alphas and being one. At least the room he moved into was a single two doors from his old room. Waking up alone was a bitch though.
“What a depressing way to start the day with.” He muttered to himself.
He laid still for a moment before getting up. All of his things had been moved over and organized by Lee over the past week. Thankfully Lee understood him enough to organize everything the way he would. That thought made him smile. Lee had left a bunch of his own stuff there as well so he would always have an excuse to come over. Not that he needed one in Kloh’s opinion.
He quickly showered and got dressed. He made sure to double check the patch on his neck was in place. All the emergency suppressants were safely stored in his bag. Checking the time, he still had about 20 minutes before his first class. Afterwards he had a meeting with his advisor.
“Open the door! Let me in! Klohhhhhh!” Lee pounded on the door and wailed loudly.
“So dramatic. You know the key code so why are you screaming like a crazy person?” Kloh yelled back before pulling the door open, narrowly avoiding an incoming fist.
“Sup babe. Missed me?” Lee grinned at him.
“Hmmmm, can’t really tell yet. Quickly go back to your room and we’ll see then.” He started to close the door.
“Hey!” Lee squeezed into the room and pouted at him. “Keep being mean to me and I’ll tell Dex.”
“Wow. I thought we were friends. A threat. Tsk tsk tsk.” Kloh shook his head with pretend disappointment.
Lee slapped his shoulder. Kloh couldn’t help but laugh. Lee rolled his eyes at him.
“Come on, we still have to grab coffee. I swear the classes today will put you right to sleep.”
Lee grabbed him as he grabbed his bag. He tugged the man out barely letting him check if the door closed properly.
“If I get robbed I’m blaming you.”
“If you get robbed, I’ll have Dex buy it back for you.”
Kloh rolled his eyes and let the man pull him to the elevator. They got out the building and bought coffee at the cafe across the street. With five minutes to spare they made it to the classroom and managed to snag seats towards the back of the classroom. Five minutes later the class was full.
“How was the first class? Anything I need to know for today?” Kloh asked as he pulled out a notebook and pen.
“Not really. She just went over the syllabus. Today is the first real class.” Lee replied as he also pulled out a notebook.
“Good.” Kloh let out a relieved breath. He really didn’t want to get behind before the semester even started.
They sat back, whispering to each other as they waited for the Professor to walk in.
“Good morning class.” A small beta woman in a yellow sundress with long black hair walked in, loudly greeting the class. She wore dark rimmed glasses and no makeup. Her skin was a dark caramel color that offset her even darker eyes. She was really pretty, Kloh thought.
Amongst the murmured responses she went up to the board and wrote with a flourish.

After writing she turned back and smiled at the class.
“Alright. Since we couldn’t do proper introductions last week because I was double booked and had to leave early, we’ll do it today.”
Turning back to the board she picked up the chalk and wrote again.
Dr. Dainee Havers
“My name is pronounced day-knee. Dainee Havers. Doctorate in ABO Genetics and Structure. Masters in Social Sciences and Bachelors in Social Psychology. I’m a beta and I like to prove people wrong. Please call me Dr. Dainee.” She said to the class with a bright smile.
Everyone smiled and applauded. A few even laughed at the last bit.
“Now that you know who I am. Please introduce yourselves to your classmates. Give your name, major, secondary gender and favorite thing or something you like to do. We’ll start from the front and work our way back.”
The people in the first row looked at each other before the person on the far right stood. He was short, barely passing 5 feet. His brown hair curled cutely and his green eyes shined. The curls framed his small, slightly pale and delicate looking face. He smiled and in a soft voice introduced himself.

“Hi hi. I’m Lee, unfortunately it’s not short for anything cute like Leeland. I’m majoring in Social Psychology. I’m an omega. And I like to watch old horror movies with my best friend and criticize the effects.” He grinned and bowed.
The class laughed and greeted him. Kloh laughed as well and bumped Lee as he sat down. The man blew him a kiss and winked. Rolling his eyes, Kloh stood to introduce himself.
“Hello everyone, I’m the previously mentioned best friend. My name is Kloh. Social Psychology major as well. I also like to watch old horror movies but I prefer to point out the flaws in reasoning. Oh and I am an ome…”he caught himself, quickly changing the word, ” alpha. I’m an alpha. Nice to meet you all.” He chuckled awkwardly then smiled to cover his fumble.
The class was quiet as he waited for the usual response from everyone. But as he looked around he only saw stunned and surprised looks. Confused by the looks, he touched his face.
Bumping Lee’s arm, he whispered, “Is there something on my face?”
Lee giggled and replied, “Just your usual beauty.” Kloh scoffed and slapped his shoulder lightly.
What Kloh hadn’t realized was over the past couple fo days there were many small changes in his appearance. Even Lee hadn’t realized it because he was always around Kloh. First of all, Kloh’s voice had gotten slightly deeper. Although to him and those around him often it wasn’t noticeable, to this group of strangers it was very distinct. Next, some of the softer features on his face had started to sharpen out. He had gained about an inch or so height wise, bringing him to a cool 5’8″. He now exuded a slightly colder demeanor than he had before. To the room full of omega he looked like a cold, handsome, not too tall alpha.
Clearly his throat awkwardly, he laughed and smoothed his collar. The gruff laugh caused some of the omegas in the room to flush and turn away from him. The professor also snapped out of her stupor and shook her head.
“Oh. I’m quite sorry. I didn’t mean to stare.” She said with a smile.
As if by magic, her words brought the rest of the class out of their silence. Half the class flushed and turned away. The other half continued to stare but less intensely and more covertly. Releasing what they did, they belatedly greeted Kloh, whose ears were slowly turning pink.
“Please sit Kloh. Again sorry about that. I just haven’t seen an alpha in this class in all my years of teaching. You caught me by surprise.”
Kloh sat and awkwardly shook his head. “It’s fine really.”
“Okay then. It seems Kloh is the last person. Now that we’ve all introduced ourselves, I hope we can all work well together this semester. The first thing we’ll be looking at is a case study….” Dr. Dainee started lecturing.
Ignoring his embarrassment, Kloh focused on the class. The class itself used real life case studies and that was why Kloh wanted to take it. All the case studies were interesting, even the supplemental reading was cool. He was glad that he had convinced Lee to buy the books with him.
For the next hour and a half Kloh took notes and got immersed in the class. Occasionally he would notice someone looking at him. When he turned to catch the line of sight, the person would turn. This actually happened quite often till he decided to just ignore it all.
At the end of the class, he looked over his notes and was happy with the information he managed to write down. Later he would take time to organize his notes.
“Wanna get a real breakfast/lunch before the next class?” Lee asked as he packed up his things.
“I have to meet with the advisor first then we can go.” Kloh replied as he put away his notes.
“Cool. I’ll walk with you.”
They stood and headed out of the classroom. As they passed the various omegas, Kloh could feel the heated stares following him. They managed to make it out of the class quickly. Once outside the building he took a deep breath. The suffocated feeling had disappeared.
“Hey,” he poked Lee in the side, “why was everyone staring at me.”
Lee side-eyed him. He raised his brow at the question. “Are you genuinely asking that?”
“Of course. I’m sure being the only alpha in a class is surprising but it can’t be that surprising.”
“Kloh, hun. You’re the only alpha in a class full of omegas. And clearly you weren’t there to play around. Plus you’re a very handsome man and didn’t try to hit on anyone. I’m sure most alphas who would take an omega majority class would do so. Wouldn’t you as an omega be very interested in such an alpha?”
“Oh.” Kloh realized that he would in fact be very intrigued in such a scenario.
“Plus I hadn’t realized it before but your voice got deeper. And have you grown taller?” He tried to compare heights as they walked. “My dear Kloh the alpha in you is showing more and more. Soon I won’t be able to stop the little omegas from falling for you.” Lee said almost wistfully.
“Shut up. Who are you stopping? Hurry up before I’m late.” Kloh grumbled and blushed a little.
Lee laughed loudly. With bright eyes he threaded his arm into Kloh’s and dragged the man over to the Administrative Building. How annoying. With a small huff, he kept up with Lee’s pace.

“How’d it go?”
They sat at a picnic table under a huge tree, eating very good sandwiches from a food truck. Lee was eating messily. Half of the contents of his sandwich, no longer in the bread. Meanwhile, Kloh had cut his sandwich into sections to make it easier and neater to eat.
“Weird. She kept trying to make me change my major to something else. Something and I quote ‘more suitable to my gender’.” Kloh rolled his eyes in annoyance as he recalled the 20 minute conversation with the omega female.
“What does that even mean?” Lee scoffed loudly then took a swig of his huge bottle of orange soda.
“Exactly right. I think she assumed that I was only in the major to meet omegas. That I was probably planning to steal the futures of promising omegas by knocking them up and some stupid shit like that.”
“How specific.” Lee chuckled.
“Well she did everything but say it. Then she told me that I had to take a mandatory military training class. Which is also stupid. Didn’t it say that we could opt out of the class?”
“Ah my dear sugarplum, we could….. as omegas. It’s compulsory for alphas. Sorry love.” Lee patted his hand sympathetically.
“Well I should get a pass. I barely qualify as an alpha anyway. I can’t imagine being surrounded by so much testosterone and ‘he man’ energy.” Kloh complained.
“Well on the bright side we get to oogle dazzling alphas twice a week.” Lee grinned as he thought of the prospect. “Maybe you can even find me a gorgeous, well built, tall, preferably curly haired alpha to marry.”
“Sir, this isn’t a shop where you can make an order. Please focus.” Kloh flicked the daydreaming omega.
“Ow!” Lee put a hand over his forehead then stuck his tongue out at Kloh in response.
“Leeee.” Kloh whined.
“Fine, fine. When does it start?”
“Tomorrow.”
“I think Mars should be there as well. I’ll introduce y’all. He’ll look out for you.” Lee thought about it before nodding.
“Who’s Mars?” Kloh asked but was ignored as Lee pulled out his phone and texted someone.
A second later whoever he texted had responded. With a satisfied look he put his phone away and flashed two thumbs up at Kloh.
“All done. Mars will definitely be there.”
“Once again I ask, who is Mars?”
“Mars? He’s the alpha of Dex’s best friend Wesley. He’s so freaking cute. You’ll love him. He’s literally our ideal guy. Completely lickable.” Lee explained with a slightly perverted look.
“Okay. I think you meant, completely likable.”
“Sure yeah that works too.” He grinned and licked his lips.
“Oh how I worry for whoever manages to put a ring on you in the future.”
“They will be a very fortunate person to gain such an amazing person like me.” He stood and turned in a full circle before bowing.
Kloh chuckled and flicked the top of Lee’s bowed head.
“Ow! Stop that.” Lee pouted as he rubbed his head.
“Only when you stop being annoying.” Kloh retorted, he grabbed the garbage and threw it out.
“You’re so mean to me. I’m gonna tell Dex.”
“I’m sure he’ll agree with me.” Kloh laughed as he grabbed both of their bags.
“Well I’m his baby brother so don’t be too sure on that.”
“That’s fair.”
They put on their bags and continued to argue as they headed to their second class. On the way there Lee pointed out the other buildings that they would have classes in so that Kloh could get a better idea of where everything was.
“Kloh?” A soft voice drifted over to where the two were standing.
They had just reached the outside of the classroom and were getting ready to enter. Both of them paused instantly, recognizing the voice. A slight cringe appeared on Lee’s face, while a look of annoyance appeared of Kloh’s.
“It’s been awhile. Not gonna say hello?” The person continued speaking.
“Alexandre.” Kloh turned around and nodded at him.
Standing there was an omega. He was about 5’5″. A decent height for an omega. His hair was a dark red that looked completely unnatural. But Kloh knew that that was his natural hair color. He had a bright green eyes that twinkled with bad intentions. His skin was so lightly colored as if he only just got the barest amount of sun exposure. He looked very delicate. Petite and lithe. The type of omega that all alphas would feel protective towards. Even as an omega Kloh had once felt protective towards him.
“Lex. You know it’s Lex to you.” The man smiled shyly at him.
“We have class. We’ll be going now.”
Kloh turned back and pulled Lee into the class.
“I heard you’re an alpha now.” Lex called out.
They both paused. A tension built within Kloh. His shoulders straightened up and his jaw clenched. How the fuck did he find out so quickly.
“Seems like it’s true.” He continued after hearing no response, “Congrats. I always knew something was different about you. Maybe now we can…”
“Fuck off Alexandre.” Kloh cut him off and entered the class with an uncharacteristically quiet Lee.
They went to the back and sat down. A moment later, Alexander walked in. He looked over at them. Eyes lingering on Kloh for a minute before he sat down in the front.
Kloh finally let out the breath he was holding as the teacher walked in and started the class.
His phone buzzed. With a quick glance he saw the message from Lee.
‘I assume you haven’t checked the group chat. Go look at it.‘
Without drawing too much attention to himself, he opened their high school group chat. It was a chat made up of his and Lee’s omega friends from his year called ‘Power to the O’s‘. He hadn’t checked in the last two weeks and had over 300 unread messages. Several of them were mentioning him. He opened the chat.

The messages went on like that almost endlessly. A deep sigh left him as he closed out the app. He’d deal with it later. Right now he needed to focus on class. It could wait. It had to wait. As he tried to focus his eyes unintentionally strayed to the redhead at the front. When did he start attending this school? As far as Kloh knew Alexandre was supposed to be in a completely different city. Had he switched schools? Or maybe he lied about what school he got into. Kloh scoffed and shook his head. Although that sounded like something he would do, Kloh decided to push it to the back of his mind. He forced himself to pay attention. Slowly he started to fill his book with his messy handwriting.
At the end of class, he rushed out with Lee not intending to get stuck in another encounter he didn’t want to be in. Heading to their next class, Kloh pulled out his phone. First he replied to his friends, saying that he’d explain everything at a different time. Then he clicked on his conversation with Dex.
Rereading the last message he had received made him smile. And like that all the stress and frustration that had built up disappeared. His face relaxed and slowly curled into a ghost of a smile. Maybe Dex hadn’t realized but he was so insanely cute over text. Every conversation they had easily put a smile on Kloh’s face. Plus with the cute old emoticons he used, Kloh felt like he was talking to a completely different side of Dex than the one he saw in person.

Cheer him on? He couldn’t imagine Dex doing something as cringey as that. But still the thought of it made him smile and actually look forward to the training. It’d also be the first time he’s seen Dex since the man broke into the guesthouse. Now he couldn’t wait for tomorrow to arrive. He typed in his reply and sent it.
