  1. omhighad that’s some kind of criminal/investigative simulation! So Awesome!

    Thanks fo the update (。♡‿♡。)

  2. Oooh, a cool recreation of the crime scene!

And so, Detective Ren Yifei has deduced the method, and the criminal!

All that’s left to find is the motive 🤩

  3. Really cool! Though I have to admit Ren Yifei’s identity in this world gives him an advantage over the other players, being allowed to sleep and eat and all, I wonder if that’s actually random or has something to do with his having been through a system before? Though I guess there were others who didn’t have to be part of the vigil, so maybe it’s mostly veterans that get hard roles, possibly as a penalty for intentionally choosing this instance to get its card…

Thank you so much for translating! <3

    • It has nothing to do with veteran or newbie, Ren Yifei has the advantage because he is an actor. He analyzed his role and got into character very quickly, even adjusting it a bit, so he wasn’t discovered. He also gets along with the NPCs. In short, he is highly intelligent and an amazing actor. His mental crime recreation also shows that.

      • Oh, maybe I just misunderstood the vigil thing then, I thought I saw someone say family members definitely weren’t allowed to sleep but the unrelated night watchmen are talking about pushing together benches to make a bed for Ren Yifei, very different treatment—after all, he’s not actually part of the family, he’s a pampered, squeamish pretty boy called to round out the numbers for a game, not a big deal if he doesn’t do everything perfectly. Then again, staying up may only be for the first night, and it seems like eating is more “discouraged” for family members than “not allowed”? Because you’re supposed to be too sad and focused on staying with the deceased as long as possible before their final journey to care much about eating. I imagine Ren Yifei could’ve swung himself some food no matter what his role, but a family member’s job to kneel silently would definitely not be as easy as getting to play cards and chatting for information while sitting at a table the whole night. He’s not the only player who isn’t a family member, though, some newbies were a “monk” or “errand girl,” a veteran was some old guy sweeping, so maybe it’s just that the few who drew family members have bad luck rather than Ren Yifei having particularly good luck. Still, “pampered and with nice clothes, called to play cards” is miles better than “forced to run errands or kneel and chant.” It’s a role you can make use of acting to get benefits from, and I was curious if that’s related to his previous system usage/cheat quality or if that’s just the tiniest amount of luck finally showing up for him—a guy who gets called into a supernatural game/system thing twice can hardly be called lucky no matter what haha
        • At the moment, we can only theorize. With the other roles, one would also be able to get a lot of information, but because the other players offended the NPCs they lost the chance to rest or eat. Maybe if they had quickly figured out how to act their roles, the NPCs would have shown concern for them, allowing them to sleep and eat a little.

However, I’m not sure how the role system in this novel works as this is only the first instance. To figure things out and theorize more thoroughly, we need more information.

  4. I get that MC is an actor for the sake of the plot, but if he went for a job as a detective instead then he’d definitely be solving hundreds of cases easy peasy (๑•̀ㅁ•́ฅ✧

  5. a fei is so smart. how come he knows all these things about death? surely it isn’t because he died a lot?

    • I’m not sure if it is a spoiler or not (probably not, since the beginning is just made kind of confusing for the sake of mystery), but Ren Yifei has once experienced being captured by a system (The Big Bad System, or the Evil System) and since he survived it, he gained a lot of power. However, he does not want that power, so he seals away the powers that are locked behind six extreme emotions corresponding with the deadly sins (the seventh, Pride probably, being himself) in the red bracelet that only he can see. Therefore, there is Ren Yifei in the real world and his other half in the bracelet

Ren Yifei’s past and information about the System are scattered in bits throughout the story, so it is totally understandable to be confused at the beginning. I hope this helps! ^^
