but the corridor scene in this chapter felt a lot like being at my grandfather’s house, especially when I would go out at night to use the bathroom. I would have to walk down a dark corridor (much like the ones mentioned in this chapter) and pass by an old storage room with its door always open. I would be silvering since it was winter, so the physiological response probably made me feel extra anxious.

It always felt as though I was alone despite my family all cramming into the guest’s room. But since it was winter, everyone would be sleeping under thick quilts so it was like they had all disappeared. Sometimes, it would be so quiet that I often thought that they might be replaced by monsters. 1HcWx6

So yeah, reading this chapter at my grandfather’s house really didn’t help either haha. The eerieness was 10/10, would recommend reading this arc in an old house at night.

    • I know right! Can’t blame me though, the romance in this novel is a very slow burn. There were times when I actually shipped A Fei with Qing Hong throughout this arc haha ><.
