Translator's Note

滇: Diān – abbr. for Yunnan Province 4G2dfa

Dian or Yun (from Yunnan) is a shortened name for Yunnan. The reason why Dian is used is because Dian is the ancient kingdom of present day Yunnan. However, there is also another explanation relating to a historian, Sima Qian, who wrote in Records of the Historian that the largest community in present day Yunnan was called “Dian” (Fish is not sure is this is related)…

Dian and Yunnan is used interchangablely here, and since Authur-sama used 滇, Fish will also translated as such when that character is used. But please correct Fish is there are any mistakes.

Translator's Note

King Qingxiang (顷襄王) of Chu was from 298 to 263 BC the king of the state of Chu during the Warring States period of ancient China.

  1. I wanna scold the onlookers but if I was a bored uni student and an acquaintance invited me to come view their club’s re-enactment of an obscure sacrificial ritual to an evil god… i would totally come 😅

    • Yeah, the shaman behind this 100% chose the right way to trick a large group of people to happily perform this sacrificial ritual. Bored uni students can get up to the craziest things.

      • ikr. technically speaking, who would actually take it seriously? The only thing most people would consider is that it’s a fascinating and unique experience that doesn’t take much effort to view. Why not go if invited, then?

  2. I don’t know about China’s and surrounding’s whack stuff, but a cursory glance at the Wikipedia pages of phantom islands and sunken cities showed that sunken cities are a rather European thing (Atlantis, Ker Ys, Vineta, Thule, Rungholt,…) and phantom islands can be found anywhere where people lived near water, probably mirages, often also perceived as cities in the sky. Oh apart from that an i think south American mythical animal that is a sea turtle so large it appears to be an island also fits that…

Hm, about as nebulous a topic as what qualifies as fish or dragon.
