All the other characters constantly complain that Jiang Xu has a nastly temper and they can’t understand why Mufeng likes him. I think it’s because Jiang Xu is a dual, and as such is expected to be complacent and submissive to his husband. They can’t understand Mufeng’s affection because to them that is a passing thing, and as a man he should have multiple wives. They know Mufeng is as ruthless as Jiang Xu, but because Mufeng is a man, he is expected to be ruthless, while Jiang Xu as a dual is not. Ultimately it comes to gender roles.
Jx isn’t a delicate helpless dual but an open n domineering one with morals that align with our mc’s which is part of why mufeng likes him so much. Others just cant fathom a husband wanting n preferring a wife like that since most men want their wives whether dual or woman to be submissive to their whims and just look pretty/provide familial benefits.
