I would guess the women who have a crush on him would call him “brother” behind his back too. But most guys in the setting don’t really have a concept of trans, and so would likely use female pronouns.

    After reaching this chapter though, I seem to hold an attitude similar to Xu Xungliu. It seems the author really places Gu Zuo’s character as docile and submissive. I sometimes view him as a wimp. I love reading the cultivation progression of the two but I don’t anymore place hope on their romance. It seems bland for my taste and it’s more brotherly love.

    As much as I try to justify the partnership to be equal, I don’t really see it that way after reaching this chapter. Instead, I find giddiness in the brief interaction between Gongyin Tianheng and Xi Xingyan than the two male leads.

    I read with enjoyment for the leads’ progression in their cultivation. But I don’t place hope too much in their romance. It seems not handled well or perhaps I am just prejudiced that Gu Zuo is portrayed with certain derision, a twink if I can harshly say it.

    But I still regard this novel as 4.7/5. It’s good, great even. But romance side, it’s yet to be seen as it’s too slow.
