Upon waking up, Xie Luyu sleepily reached a hand out to the side. Gu Qingchi wasn’t a restful sleeper and often rolled off the bed in his sleep. Xie Luyu was already used to having to scoop him back up. However, this morning, the other side of the bed was empty.
Xie Luyu’s morning fog instantly cleared up. It wasn’t until he opened his eyes and saw the bulging blanket on the edge of the bed that he finally relaxed. It teetered at the very edge of the bed. If it was even a few centimeters further, Xie Luyu would be scooping this bulging blanket up off the ground. Xie Luyu took both the blanket and the person underneath it into his arms.
Gu Qingchi flipped over and wrapped himself up in a blanket, leaving only his face and his dark black hair exposed. It was currently summer, so the blankets were thin. He had the blanket wrapped rather tightly around himself, creating a beautiful outline of his shoulders.
Xie Luyu placed Gu Qingchi in the middle of the bed and laid back down. However, he couldn’t seem to go back to sleep when he closed his eyes, so he decidedly gave up. Instead, he just watched Gu Qingchi. No matter how much he stared at the other, he just couldn’t seem to get enough.
He and Gu Qingchi were very close, so much so that he could feel the other’s breath. If he dropped his head down even the slightest, he’d be able to kiss Gu Qingchi.
The air conditioner had been on all night. The temperature in the room was probably a little low. Gu Qingchi sensed a heat source and slowly began inching towards it. He burrowed himself into Xie Luyu’s arms and buried his face in Xie Luyu’s chest.
Xie Luyu could no longer see Gu Qingchi. He couldn’t kiss the other’s face either, but he could feel the soft and warm body in his arms.
He didn’t know how much time had passed, but, soon, the sky began to lighten. Sunlight peeked through the window curtains, filling the room with warmth.
Xie Luyu looked at the time. It was eight in the morning, time to make breakfast.
He kissed the bundle in his arms and proceeded to get out of bed. Gu Qingchi shifted a bit before burying himself back in his blanket.
Gu Qingchi said that he wanted to eat youtiao yesterday. Xie Luyu had tried his hand at making it a couple of times and had gotten pretty good at it.
Once breakfast was ready, Xie Luyu went to go check up on Gu Qingchi. Sure enough, Gu Qingchi was still lazing about in bed. He had gotten used to getting up late. No matter how much sleep he got, it was never enough. Getting up each morning was always a heavy task.
“It’s time to get up, Chi Chi. I made the youtiao you wanted. If you don’t get up soon, they’ll get cold.”
Gu Qingchi hummed in response, but his body was honest, pulling the blanket up over his head.
Xie Luyu dug him out of the blanket and very naturally placed a hand on his waist, greeting him with a deep kiss. Gu Qingchi was already awake by the time the kiss was over, chasing the other’s lips with his eyes closed. He was actually a little reluctant to stop.
“I’m hungry.”
“I already made breakfast, so you can eat once you’ve washed up.”
“I want to eat right now. Can I?”
Xie Luyu finally understood what it was that he meant. His throat bobbed.
The two of them fell back onto the bed. Their “breakfast” ended up lasting two hours.

However, the atmosphere had been really good tonight. They had dinner with the family today. The first floor patio was really big, open-air. The patio had some outdoor chairs and tables which were perfect for a get together. Next to all of this were a bunch of flowers, and there was even a swing with throw pillows on it. Several trees grew around the patio, so you were met with a lush green cover upon walking out the door.
Mrs. Gu made a special exception and allowed them to drink alcohol. Xie Luyu ended up getting a little excited and drank more than usual. It didn’t really show. He acted very normal. He even helped put away the dishes once dinner was done. However, once the two of them went back home through the garden, it became apparent that he’d had a bit too much to drink.
His eyes were bright. He squatted by the door, not coming inside. He just stared at Gu Qingchi.
“Why aren’t you coming in?”
“You haven’t said welcome home yet.”
Gu Qingchi found this a little amusing.
“Welcome home.”
Xie Luyu then proceeded to obediently change out of his shoes, put his shoes on the shoe rack, and run over to hug Gu Qingchi. He buried his head in the other’s neck and responded loudly.
“Welcome home!”
He then blindly followed after Gu Qingchi. He was like a big dog. Gu Qingchi would do something, and he would do it too. Gu Qingchi brushed his teeth. He also brushed his teeth. Gu Qingchi washed his face. He also washed his face. He was a very worry free tagalong.
However, Gu Qingchi no longer found him worry free once it was time for a bath. Xie Luyu insisted that he was stuck to Gu Qingchi. He would only take a bath if it was with him.
Gu Qingchi adjusted the temperature for him, coaxing him.
“I’ll be right outside, so can you take a bath by yourself?”

Xie Luyu agreed pretty quickly, but he wasn’t quite as well-behaved as his reply would suggest. Sporadically, every few minutes or so, he would pull the booklet out from under his pillow and look at it.
Once he pulled it out for the nth time, Gu Qingchi very mercilessly confiscated the marriage certificate.
