Almost simultaneously, the parachutes on their backs burst open with a loud pop, like a gigantic cloud, bringing their rapid descent to a halt.
Above them, there was huge, soft white clouds and a dark blue night sky filled with bright stars.
Beneath them, they could see dotted mountains, rivers, and the vast, arc-shaped horizon of the earth in the distance. This grand and magnificent scenery surrounded them as they fell, accompanied by the rushing wind, for a movement Xia Wan felt as if they were flying like birds.
That massive sky was like a halo and changing colors… It’s so stunning, so captivating that it steals one’s soul away.
“It’s so beautiful,” Xia Wan breathed out, his voice barely above a whisper.
The earlier fear that had gripped him now seemed like a distant memory, replaced by a sense of awe and wonder.
He couldn’t tear his gaze away from the mesmerizing sight before him. Each detail, from the changing colors of the sky to the way it seemed to glow in the darkness, held him captivated.
It was as if he was seeing the world with fresh eyes, experiencing its beauty in a way he never had before.
Every moment felt precious, and he drank it all in, his eyes wide and unblinking, like a newborn baby taking its first look at the world, eager to absorb every detail.
Seeing Xia Wan’s expression, Huo Yu couldn’t help but smile. He reached out, gently taking Xia Wan’s hand in his own, and brought it closer to his lips. Through the protective helmet, he pressed a soft kiss onto Xia Wan’s thin, white fingers.
As the cold wind gently caressed Xia Wan’s fingertips, he couldn’t help but close his eyes slightly, feeling the cool breeze against his skin.
Despite the sensation, a smile graced his lips, reflecting the joy and contentment he felt in that moment.
As they descended lower, Xia Wan’s attention shifted from the fixed gaze they had while high in the sky to the massive heart-shaped opening on the ground.
In the moonlight, Xia Wan could already make out the sparkling water surrounding a small island in the center, with a shimmering star-shaped halo enveloping the entire island. It looked as though the entire island was glowing and sparkling under the night sky.
This reminded Xia Wan of the winter when she was a child.
Almost every Christmas and Spring Festival, the lush green plants, pines, and cypresses in the backyard would be adorned with small, colorful lights.
At night, when the backyard lamps would switched off, the small twinkling lights would shimmer, creating a scene as enchanting as the elves in a fairy tale, turning the courtyard into a magical forest.
During these moments, Xia Wan would always be accompanied by his parents and brother.
All of them would gather on the large garden platform, enjoying hot drinks together while watching the gentle breeze sway the bamboo, causing the lights to twinkle softly.
It was a cherished time for whole family, filled with warmth and togetherness as they shared laughter and conversation under the starry sky.
Espiacally one year, Xia Wan remembered it vividly. It snowed heavily on Christmas Eve, and when he looked out from his room, everything seemed even more beautiful than usual.
At that time, Xia Wan’s health wasn’t good, so he couldn’t go outside. However, the beautiful scenery outside left a lasting impression on him.
“Where are we?” he asked softly, unable to resist admiring the breathtaking beauty around them. “It’s so beautiful.”
“This is a resort island owned by the Shen family,” Huo Yu replied softly, also gazing down at the scenery. “Do you like it?”
“I like it,” Xia Wan replied with a smile, leaning over he pressed his lips against the exposed skin of Huo Yu’s neck. “Will it affect other tourists?”
“No,” Huo Yu smiled softly.
A month prior, he had arranged to book the entire island through Shen Yan, with the intention of creating an unforgettable birthday experience for Xia Wan.
After all, for so many years, Xia Wan had never been able to celebrate his birthday on the actual day of his birth.
Since then, Huo Yu wanted every birthday for Xia Wan for the rest of his life to be vibrant, joyful, and unforgettable.
Shorty after they landed on the large square in front of the resort hotel, colorful lights filled the sky, making it hard to see the stars and moon. The sweet sound of a violin played as they followed a path lined with rose petals from the hotel lobby.
Rainbow-colored bubbles floated in the air, creating a soft popping sound that caught Xia Wan’s attention.
Huo Yu lifted his hand and removed his helmet, then leaned down to kiss Xia Wan’s lips tenderly. His eyes, which had been smiling all night, gradually became deeper, resembling a calm sea with intense flames burning deep within, making his dark pupils unexpectedly bright.
“Happy birthday,” he murmured, “my treasure.”
His magnetic voice, filled with love and affection, struck Xia Wan’s heart like lightning, causing him to tremble slightly in his embrace.
“Thank you,” Xia Wan looked up, his eyes shining with happiness and joy, “I’m very happy, very, very happy.”
He kissed Huo Yu’s lips, called him by the name he always enjoyed to use.
“Eldest Master,” he said, his emotion impossible to hide, “I am so happy. This is the happiest and most joyful birthday I have ever had.”
Huo Yu kissed him back, his voice low and deep: “There will be even better ones in the future.”
“Many, many more,” he added.
Xia Wan tried to speak, but no words came out. His heart was already overflowing with warmth and love.
“There are many beautiful sights in this world,” Huo Yu said, gazing into Xia Wan’s tear-filled eyes. He gently brushed the tears away with his fingertips. “I want to see them all with you.”
“Yeah,” Xia Wan nodded vigorously.
There are many beautiful scenes in this world, but only when they are together can those scenes reveal their true beauty.
He was willing to hold hands with him forever and witness all the splendor of the world.
