Borrowing a KissCh21 - Reluctant

TLC: Yuyin

Since they were going camping, he had to find a place for his precious Edamame. ZKCQov

Liang Muqiu had plenty of experience in this area. Before driving to the camp, he instructed Cen Nan to take a detour to the pet clinic he was familiar with.

Today, there were few people in the hospital and it was bright and spacious. The little sister at the reception joined the doctors and nurses to watch a TV show. They were amused by the mindless plot and ridiculed, “Do scriptwriters even use their brain nowadays? Hahahahaha.”

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Screenwriter Liang felt that he had been shot innocently in the knee.

He went up with Edamame in his arms and smiled. “Dr Xiao, I ‘ll have to trouble you to take care of my Edamame for two days.” o9DEaP

Edamame was also familiar with this place and lay in Liang Muqiu’s arms obediently. He was neither upset nor uncomfortable, and his round black eyes were glistening.

Dr Xiao looked up and was pleasantly surprised to see Liang Muqiu. He felt that he hadn’t seen him for a long time. The last time he saw him, Liang Muqiu had brought Edamame for a grooming session.

After all, the person was his secret crush and if he didn’t see him for one day, it was equivalent to not seeing him for three autumns. Rounding it up, he hadn’t seen Liang Muqiu for a century.

He had just smiled and was about to smile when he saw the unfamiliar man walking beside Liang Muqiu. He was tall and handsome, very different from Liang Muqiu. He had a cold temperament but he looked at Liang Muqiu with gentle eyes.

He held out his hand to Edamame and the little Corgi with a round butt jumped from Liang Muqiu’s arms.

Dr Xiao’s eyes changed suddenly and he looked at the unfamiliar man with scrutiny.

The man also locked eyes with him. As soon as his eyes left Liang Muqiu, they became cold. After sweeping him for a second, he turned away without interest.

Liang Muqiu was completely unaware of the raging storm in Dr Xiao’s heart. While signing the accommodation pass as usual, he chatted with the receptionist at the front desk. roZQNc

Hearing that Liang Muqiu was going camping, the receptionist at the front desk gasped in shock and envy. Propping her chin, she looked at Cen Nan beside Liang Muqiu and asked with a smile, “Are you going with this handsome man?”

Liang Muqiu glanced at Cen Nan. “En, just for two days. I’ll pick up Edamame soon.”

Hearing this, Cen Nan showed his first smile since entering the vet clinic.

The formalities were quickly completed and Liang Muqiu handed Edamame to the nurse and patted his head. “Good boy, dad will pick you up in two days.” LdmnbN

Edamame licked his palm and barked at Cen Nan once.

Cen Nan also patted Edamame on the back, “Your dads are going on vacation, bye bye.”

He was heartless and completely indifferent to giving up his son. It was like the relief parents felt when they threw their children into school.

Liang Muqiu rolled his eyes at him but didn’t refuse when he wrapped a hand around his shoulder. The two of them walked out of the vet clinic together. y9qeK5

And behind them, Dr Xiao’s heart shattered into pieces all over the floor.

He wasn’t deaf, he clearly heard Cen Nan say “Dads.”

The little nurse and the receptionist both looked at him sympathetically and patted him on the shoulder. “There are no herbs at the end of the world.  Not to mention…That person, he seems to be a good match for him.”

Dr Xiao was even more disheartened. 2KFvIP

He also knows ah! He didn’t need them to tell him!

It sounded quite tempting.

Liang Muqiu weighed it in his mind repeatedly and finally decided not to eat a second bag.

They arrived at the camp at four o’clock. The camp was divided into seven areas and they were located in the sixth area by the lake.

There were already people setting up tents in the camp but they were a distance from one another and the tents were sparsely spaced. The tents were provided by the camp so they were all the same uniform beige. They dotted the green mountains and clear water like little mushrooms. 6AfJdN

Cen Nan also went to pick up the tents. The tents provided by the camp were of decent quality. He took the tools and consciously started to build them.

Liang Muqiu didn’t have the nerve to idle around and tried to help. However, he stayed at home throughout the year and had no experience camping before. He was so clumsy that he almost smashed his own hand.

Cen Nan reacted quickly and caught him.

He opened Liang Muqiu’s palm and wiped it with a wet towel, “I’m almost done, you don’t have to do anything else. Help me get a camping lamp and a portable stove from the logistics staff.” 4C7nVm

Realising that he had been assigned a task, he put down the tools and immediately rushed off.

After setting up the tent, Liang Muqiu and Cen Nan went to lay out the inflatable mattresses and quilts and finished off by adding a small night lamp. Cen Nan even brought sulfur powder and sprinkled it around the tent.

He explained to Liang Muqiu, “Just in case there are centipedes or something.”

Liang Muqiu hated insects and immediately commanded, “Sprinkle more.” 6A0nQR

Next to them in the tent was a small couple who had just graduated from college and came to travel. They were here to observe how to set up the camp and they looked at Cen Nan with longing, “Brother, can we buy some from you? We are also afraid of insects.”

After Cen Nan finished, he handed the bag to the two of them, “Just take it.”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

The two people thanked them profusely.

Liang Muqiu looked at their retreating backs. Halfway, the girl jumped onto the boy. He smiled and wondered, was he just as foolish seven or eight years ago? rYoi4

Looking back, he saw Cen Nan who was wearing a black sweatshirt and bowing his head to pack up the tools. He had a young face but when he was working silently, he had an extraordinarily mature and stable aura.

After finishing the tent, Liang Muqiu and Cen Nan went for a stroll by the lake. The lake in the pine forest wasn’t big, but it was clean and crystal clear. In the mountains, it twinkled like a turquoise jewel. There were also boats tied to the shore and they could row the boat on the water themselves.

Cen Nan asked Liang Muqiu if he wanted to ride the boat. Liang Muqiu looked at the sky and said, “Forget it, it’ll be dark soon, even the stars will be visible. For now, let’s see what we should make for dinner.” fiuePw

They had already taken the portable stove and Cen Nan had brought a barbecue grill and charcoal. Liang Muqiu helped with the preparations and when Cen Nan started cooking, he disappeared in a flash and ran next door to meet their camping neighbours.

There were many people in this camp. Some families came out to travel as well as friends and couples. Liang Muqiu smiled very affectionately and was welcomed everywhere.

A young couple had brought their bamboo whistle flutes and they played a piece for everyone present. Liang Muqiu didn't understand but he applauded sincerely together with the others.

The group of people started chatting about themselves and what they worked as. Liang Muqiu smiled and introduced himself, “I’m a scriptwriter but I’m not that well-known.” G4ygd3

The others didn’t ask any further but smiled and asked, “Then when you come camping, can you gain some inspiration on the spot? Do you have any stories for us?”

Liang Muqiu thought for a while, he indeed had some.

He sat down and said, “I read a horror novel set in a campsite before. It was about a group of youths who came to the mountain cabin to camp and they disappeared one after another…”

He spoke in a lively and vivid manner, painting the scene. The sky was darkening and a campfire had been started. The crackling of the flames and dead branches intensified the atmosphere. Ne9Oj0

By the time Cen Nan came to look for Liang Muqiu, the people in front of him had automatically split into two groups, one group was listening with relish and their eyes were lit up in excitement, while the other group had long been scared and hid away, sitting together to share snacks.

Cen Nan stretched out his hand and pinched the back of Liang Muqiu’s neck. “Time to eat, let’s go back.”

Liang Muqiu was enthusiastically narrating his story and was reluctant to stop.

Those who were listening were even more reluctant part and reminded him to come back after eating. l5tDm1

Liang Muqiu readily promised and Cen Nan’s eyebrows could help but raise subtly.

Fortunately, Liang Muqiu’s desire to eat dinner was still there and he finally followed Cen Nan. The two turned around and just then, a girl behind them called out to them.

Handsome guy, wait.”

Liang Muqiu turned around and a box of candy was thrown at him. 9U3qDV

The couple smiled at them, “We just got our marriage license today and came camping to celebrate. We brought some wedding candies to give to everyone we meet.”

Liang Muqiu looked down at the small box in the palm of his hand. It was a small red cardboard box, but it was exquisite and beautiful.

He also smiled and congratulated them, “I wish you a happy marriage.”

Everyone around laughed. rzkVXy

Liang Muqiu followed Cen Nan back to their tent and opened the small box on the way. There were only a few candies in it, all milk candies.

He liked to eat milk-flavoured candy and he peeled one and put it in his mouth. He held one out to Cen Nan, “Do you want to eat one?”

Cen Nan didn’t like candy, he was just asking for the sake of it.

But surprisingly, he agreed, “I want it.” 9pSIwY

He watched Cen Nan pop the milk candy into his mouth and wondered, “Didn’t you hate milk candy most?”

It was true that he didn’t like it.

The rich milk flavour permeated his mouth, so sweet that he wanted to frown.

But he glanced at Liang Muqiu and said slowly, “I want to rub some of the festive atmosphere too.” z8xFAa

It took a while for Liang Muqiu to react and understand what Cen Nan meant but he didn’t say anything. He pressed the milk candy on the tip of his tongue. He didn’t know whether it was because it was a wedding candy, but it tasted extra sweet.

The two returned to the tent.

Although the appliances were simple and it was done in the wild, Cen Nan’s craftsmanship wasn’t inferior. UaswHE

There were grilled lamb chops served with fresh baked apples and roasted veal. A hot pot with clear soup was stewing on the small stove next to it and the side dishes were arranged neatly beside it.

Liang Muqiu’s body and mind were excited by the sight before him.

He sat on a small stool and sipped on the soup. The temperature in the mountains was low and it was a little cold even in spring. Drinking warm soup and biting into the fatty roast meat while looking up at the stars that weren’t visible in the city was a treat.

He looked up at Cen Nan next to him. When he was in college, he followed this man to travel and drive around the world.  And now, after so many years of going around, this person was still by his side. 21TG5N

He remembered that when he was in Yunzhou, he listened to his roommate, Hong Chao, talk about his first love. At that time, he thought to himself, if he was as free and easy as that girl, he would have changed through seven or eight lovers long ago.

But at the end of the day, everything came up to the fact that he was unwilling to give up.

He loved a lover who had broken his heart, and all that happened since then had become a thing of the past.

Just like now, he looked sideways at Cen Nan. The bonfire in the camp was bright and warm. His face was gentle in the light of the fire. Even now when he looked at Cen Nan, his heart still pounded the same way when he was eighteen. LHJyN1

Liang Muqiu sighed and whispered about his bitter fate.

He must have owed Cen Nan a lot of money in his last life to be reduced to this point in his current life.

Thinking this way, he wasn’t pleased at all. He raised his chin and commanded, “I want to eat the fish balls and konjac noodles in the hot pot.”

Cen Nan immediately got to work and scooped a whole bowl and even arranged the garnishes. 0YQ8oC

Liang Muqiu slurped on the konjac noodle, thinking that Cen Nan finally had a redeeming quality. At least his cooking was delicious.

Lol this chapter was close to being postponed because my building got its electricity cut off and my laptop was dead

It’s mentally handicapped/retarded in the raw but Yuyin pointed out that in this context, they’re saying that the plot is extremely stupid

Xiao mei(mei) means little sister or a form of address for females younger than you

  1. Thanks for the chapter man. And another day of me being jealous. Seriously camp fire date is top on my chart and I don’t care even if it’s with friends. Sadly I’m still not that old for my parents to give me permission despite being an ‘adult’. I can’t wait for mid twenties or late twenties when I have stable job and ample freedom to go out. Again who knows what’s life storing in far future

    • You don’t have to feel too sad, you have a lot of chances to do what you want in the future, the wait will be worth it, promise!

  2. You know after reading “After I Flopped on My Crush”, my standards for ML already set up so high, QX has so much redeeming qualities that even though his realization is late he is likable. So i cant help but expect more when i started reading this one coz it was from the same author i was ready to like a new ML but… CN is not really giving right now…just like what others commented last chapter i hope he can be honest because what his doing rn is hurting LMQ. I know its too early to give judgement but i cant waitttttt im so excited come on nowwww

Anyway, cant help to drop a comment. Thank you for the translations! I very much appreciate it.
