A World AssimilationChapter 12

Shen Yu looked at the barrage which was going crazy again. And this time there seemed no stopping it. The preparator Kai continued to be his insolent self, his smug smile not changing even after getting cursed out. He just let the barrage scroll past and by the time Shen Yu got sleepy, Kai gave a swift nod and ended his live session.

What a fake session, it ended before even starting, Shen Yu felt bad for the fans, no wonder they added a ‘black’ in their ID.   6aZjCJ

Shen Yu stayed awake for a few more hours, completing his notes before going to bed. If, Kai had already made preparations for the next world, he might even join by tomorrow evening. Nobody knew what that man was thinking. But Shen Yu would sign up for the mission world first thing in the morning.

He would have to say his goodbyes somewhat earlier than planned, because the minute the mission world would go live, all the transmigrators would be summoned right away. He would have to sign up before the quota was completely filled out. Since, as soon as the quota was filled, the mission world would go live. For this reason, several people preferred to select their mission world as soon as it appeared. Or, they would miss their chance.

Early the next morning, Shen Yu found himself waiting in the clan’s main house. The lavish foyer was a broad hallway with several gathering zones, like a bar, a meeting sittee, a play space, painting zone, etc. Bright spiritual lamps hung down like creepers, lighting up the space with a different radiance than the sun. They were similar to heavenly lamps, just much brighter and more expensive.  suL9pK

Since this was the Shen Clan main house, everything was extra showy. Shen Yu had been here several times and none for good reason. This was the only time he could relax under the enchanting glow.

He heard footsteps coming from the eastern phase, and looked up to notice his father walking over with a house servant in tow. Labeled an official event, everyone, including Shen Yu, were wearing a white inner robe and a light blue outer robe, a soft white belt tying up the middle. A crest of a tiger was stitched on the back with bright gold thread, it was big enough to cover the entire back.

“Come,” Shen Teng ordered very naturally, as Shen Yu followed him and the servant boy to the western part of the mansion. The west was where the Shen council sat, a place that enshrined ancestral monks and treasure chamber.

It took almost half an hour to get there, the mansion was huge, it was no joke. Shen Yu was sweating by the time they stopped in front of the massive door. His face was paler than usual and anyone who saw him would think he was dying.

The giant door leading to the western area of the mansion was gilded in gold, with sparse white flames of wood and spiritual energy. It guarded against malicious intensions and outsiders. Only Shen members could get in.

The door opened on its own when the servant boy flicked his sleeves, and Shen Yu and his father walked in without any obstacle hindering their way.

The hall inside was spacious, with grand pillars supporting the huge multi storied roof, jade green tiles made up the floor and wide pools of water marked the corners. At the center, there was a depressed area which was surrounded by raised platforms, on each platform, at least 100 men could gather to make judgement. It was how the council worked.

At the center would stand the speaker and/or the culprit, and in many cases just the main judge. Shen Yu’s father was not part of the council, he had no seat, but grandfather had one when he was still alive. He died while completing a mission task, so Shen Teng was able to snatch the treasury of their branch. At the same time, Shen Yu’s direct uncle, Shen Shiqui, had been given a seat in the council for his stellar achievements during the war against Undead. He was said to have killed an entire troop by himself, which was not something many 6th stage cultivators could do.  TaXH7S

“Shen Yu has decided?” Shen Shiqui was the first one to ask, he looked to be in his 40s, but was younger than Shen Teng by almost a decade. Due to harsh conditions in the battlefield, his skin aged faster despite his cultivation. It spoke volumes about the war that was still brewing around the corner and getting stronger every year. For a decade or so there had been radio silence from the Undead, but their galaxy was not safe. These Undeads were worse than the Zerg race.

Shen Yu and his father came to stand at the central area, which was depressed by a meter. To stand in the center gave one an oppressive feeling, and maybe that was the whole point.

“Council members, my greetings.” Shen Teng spoke a tad bit louder in order to reach every ear, not that it was necessary since they were all 5th stage or higher cultivators, “My son Shen Yu, has finally decided on the mission world he wishes to pick. I brought him in a hurry to fix his choice as soon as possible, or else, there won’t be any more vacancies left.”

“Greetings, Shen Teng, Shen Yu,” spoke an elderly man with greying hair. There was no kindness in his eyes as he stared at Shen Yu. “Which world have you decided upon?”  dw2pZM

Shen Yu looked straight at the old man, “Fagun.”

There was a low buzz as the council members started to discuss details among themselves. After a while, the old man said, “Very well, Fagun it is. A good choice. There must be a lot of spiritual energy on that planet, will help your cultivation. But… if the situation is not very stable, you can terminate your ticket and come back. Staying there until mission completion is not necessary. Your main task is to cultivate to a higher stage, understand child?”

Shen Yu nodded.

“Then go ahead and sign up.”  6VnS7G

Shen Yu took out the golden ticket from his pocket under the watchful eyes of the council and his father. The golden ticket was shining with a slight glaze even under dim lighting, it looked ethereal. It was no more than a palm’s size, but it was a gateway to miracles. In Shen Yu’s sickly pale hand, it gave off a contrasting vibe.

Shen Yu closed his eyes and concentrated on linking up with the ticket, and when he opened his eyes, he was inside a small golden space, with nothing but gold everywhere.

Two words, [Welcome Shen Yu] were flashing right in front of him. Shen Yu said hello, and the words morphed to a different passage.

[Which Mission World would you opt for? Here’s a list.]  S5BRxW

[Please read the Mission Task carefully before selecting the Mission World.]

[1. Harvee Mission World. Gold Mission. Group Task.

Mission Task: Stop the war between Demi-Gods, bring peace.

Time Slot: 5 years]  WaqKnU

[2. Miyar Mission World. Gold Mission. Individual Task. You will be assigned a duty after leaving for Mission World.

Mission Task: Complete your duty task by raising your social status, climb the ranks, and lead the council. Stop the council from making a judgement that will lead to downfall of vampire democracy.

Time Slot: 8 years]

[3. Fagun Mission World. Gold Mission. Group Task.  s5Vtzr

Mission Task: Protect the world of light against mass extinction.

Time Slot: 6 Years]

[4. Eliot Mission World. Gold Mission. Group Task.

Mission Task: Bring a revolution among the nobles of Rajas Empire, protect the civilians and nobles at the same time.   klM7zd

Mission Restraint: You cannot kill any living being.

Time Slot: 11 years]

There were several others but Shen Yu was not interested in them. He had to say, the chances of Kai picking Fagun were the highest. Because there was a lot unsaid in mission tasks.

Several times one had to think from all angles before a mission could be picked up. These mission worlds were almost always tricky, they demanded perfect integration with the assigned world and most high-level tasks were difficult to achieve. It was one reason why many mistakes were made while the transmigrator carried out a task, and they ended up lowering the Ticket status. For example, from Silver to Bronze or Magenta.  SqRBaV

Golden Missions were the most difficult to carry out, they had a difficult task, a difficult environment and a very difficult plot. One mistake may give you a penalty, and if you’re unable to learn from that mistake, you will keep getting penalties until you right yourself. The more the penalties, the higher a chance of lowering the Ticket Status.

And those who entirely failed the mission task and disrupted the mission flow of the Group, would either be obliterated by the Universal Laws, or would lead to a Group Obliteration. Reason why Hunter was hated in equal terms, he not only endangered the group mission, but also didn’t follow the obvious path set for transmigrators. He must have several penalties.

  1. I doubt Kai has many penalties — sometimes, taking the unconventional path is a lot better than just mindlessly following the given plan.

Also: …with a servant in toe — I think you meant tow, with a servant in tow.

  2. I am guessing the black ticket is immune to penalties from not “strictly” following the rules / supposed plot. I don’t mean complete immunity to all penalties necessarily but a lot more wiggle room. where others are “heroes”, he is the “antihero”. They both get the job done, it’s just a question of allowed means.
