Bai Tang gripped his hand back almost instantly.
That night, Jiang Yunshu had a dream.
In the dream, he was lying alone in his bed, with his parents standing on both sides.
His mother had always worn an elegant ponytail, her arms folded, as she spoke in a strict business-like tone. “How can my son be worse than others? If you are not someone who stands at the top, why should you ask others to treat you affectionately?”
His dad was always neat and serious looking. “I only wish good nights to exceptional children. Nobody would ever wish you a good night if you do not work hard.”
Jiang Yunshu refuted, “Someone did.” This was also the first time Jiang Yunshu answered back to his parents, though it was just a dream.
His parents’ facial features gradually became blurred, and their response sounded absurd, “What?”
Jiang Yunshu said, “Someone said good night to me, but he’s already asleep, so he can’t talk to you right now.”
Jiang Yunshu still opened his eyes on time at 7 in the morning, but instead of sitting up directly, he looked to the right.
Bai Tang slept soundly beside him. His cheeks were squished and his face was flushed, while his long black eyelashes rested peacefully under his eyes.
Bai Tang was no exception last night, staying awake until nearly 3 am. The gap between the two could have been filled by one more person, yet their securely clasped hands bridged it. They remained in this position ’till they fell asleep one after the other.
Bai Tang’s hand had remained in his palm till now, their fingers interlocked.
Jiang Yunshu’s mood improved for no reason, and it was far better than when he woke up with an empty space around him. He sat up, propped himself up with his left elbow, and gently drew his hand back.
“Hm?” Bai Tang stirred, not fully awake yet. He hummed in a nasal voice, “Hmm…hm?”
Jiang Yunshu comforted him softly, “Free my hands, I’m up.”

A half-asleep person would subconsciously follow any instructions they’d hear. Bai Tang moved and fell asleep again immediately.

Jiang Yunshu chuckled. “Bai Tang, wake up, come down for lunch.”
The longer he slept, the sleepier he became. Bai Tang struggled to lift his heavy eyelids. He called out, “Dr. Jiang…”
Jiang Yunshu walked up to the bed and suddenly noticed a few bright red traces on Bai Tang’s left neck. He pressed his thumb against Bai Tang’s chin and forcefully turned his head, leaning over to look. “Bai Tang, here…”
The two stared at each other.
His words came to an abrupt end.
Only then did Jiang Yunshu realise that they were so close that if he moved ten centimetres forward, the tip of his nose would poke Bai Tang’s face.
Bai Tang held his breath. His pupils were dilated, his lips were pursed, and a pink hue spread across his cheeks. The alpha’s breath brushed his face gently, and he dared not move an inch.
Dr. Jiang, who once declared, “The human body was just a bunch of muscle that had its own unique set of merits,” bobbed his adam’s apple inconspicuously, coughed, and turned his face away. “Come out to eat.”
The door closed with a soft click.
Bai Tang sat on the bed in a daze, and after a while, the tips of his ears burst into scarlet. Dr. Jiang is shy, right?! Right? Right! He made Dr. Jiang shy!
He remembered when Dr. Jiang had first become aware of Jiang Yunsu’s violent inclinations. He had glass embedded in his palms and soles at the time. The alpha had used bandages to support his feet in the toilet, and when his gaze had fallen on his nude body, his face remained unchanged. He was as emotionless as a machine back then.
His expression just now wasn’t like before!
Bai Tang covered his blushing face. He…he really seemed to have a teensy bit of a chance.

Outside, at the supermarket by the roadside.
“Zheng Ruyun!” Suddenly, there was an angry roar.
Zheng Ruyun held a tote bag in his hand, which contained the vegetables he had just bought. He turned his head, and when he saw the person coming, his face was filled with uncontrollable irritability. “Are you a fucking stalker?”
Lin Baizhou froze, his anger disappearing. He thought about what he had done in the past few weeks, and he was indeed a bit like one. If it was another omega, they might have called the police earlier.
He explained, “Fuck, I might’ve done somethings inappropriately in the past, but this time I just happened to pass by! I swear!”
Zheng Ruyun appeared concerned. “Whatever your business with me is, I don’t want to deal with an alpha any longer. Not to mention that alphas don’t need to ask omegas for anything, do they?”
Lin Baizhou stated: “This matter concerns you, can we talk about it? There’s a coffee shop nearby.”
Zheng Ruyun didn’t feel like talking. He looked at Lin Baizhou silently for a while and suddenly said, “Alright, lead the way.”
As if Lin Baizhou was afraid that he would go back on his word, he said, “Okay, follow me.” Through the rearview mirror, he watched as Zheng Ruyun put the food into the shotgun seat of his own car, fastened his seat belt, and then set off.
After driving for 5 minutes, they arrived at the coffee shop. Lin Baizhu stopped the car and turned off the engine. He got off and waved to Zheng Ruyun’s car by the side of the road, indicating to stop here.
But then, in the next second, he watched dazedly as Zheng Ruyun’s beetle car suddenly roared and passed him at a high speed, leaving only a silhouette behind.
The wind messed up Lin Baizhou’s hair. He froze for a few seconds, and realised that he had been tricked. He subconsciously swore, “Fuck, Zheng Ruyun, you mothe–”
The word starting with the letter ‘m’ rolled on the tip of his tongue, and he stopped just in time to swallow it back. He changed his words, “Zheng Ruyun, I’ll fuck your father!”
The more Lin Baizhou thought about it, the angrier he became. “Fatherfucker, your father should go to the 38th level of the underworld!”

Jiang Yunshu prepared the meals downstairs and waited for Bai Tang to finish washing up.
He looked up, and when he saw the clothes Bai Tang was wearing, he froze.
If he remembered correctly, it was the white T-shirt that he had worn to sleep all night and had just changed.
The omega wore black shorts that showed off his slim, milky, and well-proportioned legs. The alpha’s garments were far too large for the omega; the hem of the T-shirt nearly reached the shorts, and the shorts was barely visible. The neckline was also very wide, and would slip after only a few strides. At times, the collarbone line crossed the shoulders, creating a stunning illusion of an off-the-shoulder top.
Jiang Yunshu saw the bright red traces on the side of his neck he had seen just now. Now there were a few more on it, obviously freshly scratched by a certain omega surnamed Bai.
Bai Tang’s face was very red. He said hesitantly, “I-I saw it hanging there. I thought it was mine, so I put it on…”
An excuse, both of them knew it well.
Sitting across from Jiang Yunshu, Bai Tang felt that the alpha’s gaze was about to pierce him. He couldn’t bear the pressure. His eyes were flushed, and he lowered his head and whispered, “I’d better go and change…”
“No need.” Jiang Yunshu spoke. He stood up, bent slightly, and stretched his arms before removing the clip that held Bai Tang’s bangs, pinching one side of the T-shirt collar, folding it up, and securing it with the clip. The skin on Bai Tang’s neck felt smooth under his fingers. It was really warm.
His hair slipped down and tickled against his cheeks. Bai Tang blushed and mumbled, “Thank you…”
Jiang Yunshu rubbed his bare fingertips together. Bai Tang was too blatant, his eyes were full of admiration, and he didn’t disguise it at all, so it wasn’t difficult for him to figure out.
And he has long realised that Bai Tang’s growing dependence on him was not thanks to himself. He was the one who caved in easily. It would not be wrong to say that he was solely responsible for the current predicament.
The outcome, though, appeared to make him happy.
He had spent the previous 29 years navigating through a detached family relationship, and the bitterness had almost caused him to forget the taste called “sweet”. Nevertheless, after tasting a small amount of condensed milk from Bai Tang, he began to yearn for it, and before he knew it, he had forgotten to go home.
As it turns out, this is how one feels when someone pays close attention to the details of your life and shows genuine concern for you by remembering your preferences and expressing genuine longing for your company.
Whenever he’d experience Bai Tang’s kindness, he would tell himself to be satisfied, but then he’d secretly fantasise about what his life would be like if Bai Tang truly loved him.
Gradually, he grew envious of Jiang Yunsu for having had Bai Tang’s unreserved love, and his anger at Jiang Yunsu pooled up for having trampled to dirt a love that he himself had never dared dream of.
He loved the idea of having a Bai Tang who was completely dependent on him, who was happy with everything in life, and held nothing but the highest regard for him.
Even so, he knew Bai Tang had been hurt deeply, and he worried that Bai Tang’s adoration for him was conditional on his being the one to save him. He was concerned that Bai Tang had mistaken reliance for love, and he was also concerned that he would be unable to provide Bai Tang with the life he envisioned.
They had been together for quite some time. The smallest and most inconsequential of events could spark a rift between them. He worried that Bai Tang would leave once he realised he wasn’t perfect, once he saw his flaws and saw how boring he could be. He was scared that he wouldn’t be able to handle the cold after being in the warmth for so long.
His biggest fear was that Bai Tang was still young and hadn’t yet met any truly wonderful people.
Therefore, he tucked away the original temptation that had been wriggling around in the dark corners of his thoughts. He waited patiently for Bai Tang to get accepted into a reputable university; he wanted Bai Tang to have a broader perspective and more options.
He chose to place the power to decide in Bai Tang’s hands.
✨Thank you for the chapter!!✨
Dr. Jiang is one of the most amazing people I know.
Dr Jiang if you think you’re not the best person to be with Bai Tang, then no one else will be ><
Heavy +1 for this comment
Ahh, Bai Tang is actually ahead of him on this one. He had very similar doubts but he already asked the questions. I guess the difference is, he trusted Jiang Yunshu to know the answers. Jiang Yunshu is assuming that Bai Tang doesn’t know enough to make an informed decision yet. But he does 😉.
Thank You for the new chapter (´,,•ω•,,)♡
Thankfully for the translation ❤️
Where can I get a Jiang Yunshu in my life?,
