Yuichiro woke up. When he slightly opened his eyelids, he could see the morning sun glistening through the window. As he attempted to get up by placing his hands on the bed, he noticed his body was trembling while his bones rattled, causing him to slump on the bed. He blinked a few times dazedly and recalled what had happened the night before. Other than the dull ache that slowly welled up from within his body, no other traces remained on the surface of his body. k7Ijwl

While suppressing the sensations of pain, he slowly stood up. Then, he took the clothes placed on the nightstand and dressed in them. It was the same white clothes that he had worn yesterday. He grabbed cigarettes from the round table after brushing his short, tousled hair. It was the only pack of cigarettes he had brought into this world with him. ‘Are there cigarettes in this world?’ he doubted himself as he was about to light them. ‘Is there even tobacco in here?’

Nonetheless, no matter how long Yuichiro mulled about it, there was no way he could figure it out. In the end, he felt ridiculous thinking about it and decided to light a cigarette anyway. Bitter air filled his lungs as he inhaled the cigarette.

At the same time, Yuichiro’s mind wandered once more as he exhaled a puff of smoke. ‘I have to quit smoking when I have a baby. This is a delusion. The idea that I would someday conceive a child seemed nothing more than a fantasy. However, as long as I’m standing here, this is no mere fantasy but an undeniable reality.’

Yuichiro shook his head left and right, shaking off his deep thoughts. After throwing his half-smoked cigarette into the ashtray, he walked out of the room. As he navigated his way down the castle’s extensive corridor, the people who seemed to be servants suddenly stiffened with surprised looks on their faces as they saw Yuichiro’s figure. 6Id vG

Yuichiro abruptly stopped one of them, specifically a young man, and asked him, “ I’m sorry, but could you guide me to Temeraire?” Despite his efforts to appear less intimidating, the young man remained frozen and unresponsive. When Yuichiro tilted his head, an airy-like voice escaped from the man’s gaping mouth, “Are you the Goddess?”

Yuichiro felt his lips twitch vaguely in response to the man’s question. The fact that the king had gone to meet the Goddess yesterday must have been widespread in the castle. Furthermore, seeing a man with different hair color from theirs suddenly appear in front of them, it must have been natural for them to think of him as the goddess.

‘Couldn’t you say that you can’t believe a man is a goddess?’ Yuichiro pondered. Shortly after, the man abruptly kneeled in front of Yuichiro, who was currently pressed into silence with a bitter expression.

“Goddess! I’ve never thought I’d be able to meet you! I’m honored. I’m incredibly honored!”

Yuichiro involuntarily backed away after the man in front of him delivered an unrestrained speech. Soon after, the man clasped his hands together and bowed his head as if praying to a god.

“Hey, lift your face.”

“No, no, no…! For someone like me to glimpse the face of the Goddess, I cannot do something ignorant! You are the savior of our country and the mother of the nation!”

The barrage of blind faith-like words sent a strange chill up Yuichiro’s spine. “I am—,” when Yuichiro was about to deny the man’s claims, someone seized his arm from behind. SpqQm1

“Come over here.”

Before he knew it, Temeraire was standing next to him while wearing a distorted, blatant scowl and gave the servant kneeling on the floor a quick glance, ordering, “Get back to work.”

While his tone was polite, apathy filled his voice. Temeraire then grabbed Yuichiro’s arm and began walking ahead without glancing back at the servant.

“Please don’t wander off alone.” LQSTRg

“No one was there when I woke up, so it can’t be helped.”

“I wish you’d learn to wait a little longer.”

“I hate waiting,” Yuichiro muttered in response to Temeraire’s sarcastic remark.

[I don’t like to keep waiting for something that may or may not come. Usually, the person I’m waiting for never comes]. mirdNh

As they both walked away, Yuichiro peered over his shoulder and witnessed that the servant was still kneeling on the floor, gazing intently at him. He could sense something other than admiration floating around in the man’s gaze.

“What the hell was that?”

“We came from the light, are obsessed with darkness. That’s exactly what I said previously.”

“What exactly does that mean?” 1TXoqP

“Depending on the person, it means they are in love with you or lusting after you.”

Yuichiro’s mouth dropped open. Temeraire, who was glancing at Yuichiro’s loss of words, continued, “As I said, it depends on the person. Goat, for example, is not interested in you. He treats you in the same manner as he treats others. Like the servant before, others can’t help but worship and fantasize about you when they see you.”

“What’s the difference?”

“I don’t know. There is no clear distinction between those who are and are not attracted to you. The same thing happened with the first goddess.” Odx8HC

[Did the first goddess have the same black hair like mine?]

“In general, people unconditionally love a goddess simply because she is a goddess. A goddess with black hair, on the other hand, has an irresistible charm that we, people cannot resist. That is why I ask you to be careful.”

“Be careful?” Yuichiro questioned directly.

“Among the goddesses in the past, there were some who were impregnated with child by a man who was not the king,” Temeraire said solemnly, looking back at Yuichiro. “They were r*ped by men who had a one-sided love for her. As for the child, it was disposed of before it was born.” KMm9rS

Yuichiro blinked several times in response to Temeraire’s concerned voice. He then fixed his gaze on Temeraire’s face impassively.

“Did you think I was going to be forcibly r*ped?”

“I just… I want you to know that there is such danger.”

Yuichiro broke out into a burst of spiteful laughter at the man’s earnest words. He then sighed and gradually let go of Temeraire’s arm. fue9gm

“Temeraire.”

“Yes.”

“Don’t treat me like a woman.”

“…Yes.” GonZWX

“Even if I’m held like a woman and get pregnant someday. I’m not a woman.”

“Yes, I understand.” Although Temeraire was reluctant, he still replied with an affirmation to Yuichiro’s declaration.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

“Take me to the military camp,” Yuichiro briefly ordered him as he walked past without looking back at Temeraire who was looking down. He later heard Temeraire’s footsteps trailing behind him.

As they walked along the passageway, Yuichiro raised his head and marveled at the sky. The silvery sky stretched infinitely into the horizon, and he noticed a few greyish clouds in the distance, indicating that it might rain soon. gFfWGh

Yuichiro had a panoramic view of the castle’s inner courtyard while looking down from the passageway. The courtyard itself was a large, flat area that appeared to be a training ground for soldiers. On it, he saw rows of soldiers practicing combat gestures with what appeared to be mock swords in their hands.

He scoured around and realized that several camps were also set up within the vicinity. Unlike the general soldiers he had seen earlier, he caught a glimpse of some men who were most likely military officers. As he observed the scene before him, a familiar face came into his view. It was Goat. Apparently, the individual seemed to be conversing with some of the soldiers, and when he noticed Yuichiro’s presence, he casually waved his hand at him.

After Temeraire told him they had arrived, they both immediately parted ways. Yuichiro then descended a long flight of stairs and approached Goat.

“Keke, Captain Ogami, Good morning!” Goat chirped, almost making Yuichiro resign. In return, Yuichiro asked briefly, “What’s the status report?” jiBlK8

“Yes sir. The short-range scouts have returned, and the platoon commanders are currently reporting in.”

“Let me hear it too.”

“Then, over here.”

Goat immediately escorted Yuichiro into one of the camps. Yuichiro arrived at the camp with Goat and four other platoon commanders. In the middle of the camp, there was only a simple, long desk inside. One of the platoon commanders spread out a map on top of the desk. He was a small young man with freckles on his cheeks with a childlike face rather than a young man. When his gaze met Yuichiro’s, he bowed. fFIuq9

“Ah let me introduce him first. This is Tyet Kalzer, the platoon commander in my unit.”

“Please call me Tyet.”

The young man who called himself Tyet, narrowed his eyes and smiled. At first glance, Yuichiro believed this person seemed to have an amicable personality. Next to Tyet, a serious-looking man with almost shaven white hair and a pair of large eyes under his forehead stared straight at Yuichiro and opened his mouth, “My name is Yama Orieda, a platoon commander.”

Yuichiro secretly mused at the man’s piercing stare as if he was being assessed by his subordinates. The serious-looking man had a quite belligerent character, he thought to himself. A58vd3

“Can I call you Yama?”

“Do whatever you like.”

[Even his replies are crude. Are you the type to hate incompetent bosses? Not bad, eh.]

Within the next moment, another young man next to Yama nudged Yama’s shoulder with his elbow as if to chastise him for his rude attitude. This man, on the contrary, had a slightly elongated face and was tall enough for Yuichiro to gaze up at him. gNdvlt

“My name is Belzebuth Lohkos. Just call me Belz. Yama and I have known each other since we were children. He’s a little too direct sometimes, but he’s actually a nice guy… So please forgive him,” Belz spoke with a wry smile as a follow-up introduction after Yama’s. Yuichiro had a strong impression of him being a gentleman.

The last remaining platoon commander also bowed her head at a 90-degree angle. Her long bangs covered her eyes, and her shoulder-length white hair was loosely tied at the back of her neck.

“I’m Evelise Furst.”

Yuichiro’s eyes widened in surprise as he heard her speak. ‘There’s also a female officer?’ he thought. At closer inspection, Evelise was indeed a woman. He could see that her skeletal structure was that of a woman. When she noticed Yuichiro’s reaction, she opened her mouth slightly and shook her head side to side, saying, “I am the only female officer. My brothers were supposed to serve in the military, but they were killed when Am Wallace was attacked. Instead, I was assigned to this position despite being unworthy.” 16IAPs

“Even though she looks like this, Evelise is an expert gunfighter,” Goat interjected with his usual carefree tone. He then continued speaking while pointing to the other platoon commanders, “Tyet is skilled with the bow, Yama skilled with the sword, and Belz, on the other hand, an expert handling spears. They are all excellent soldiers. Please make the most of them.”

“Sounds like they weren’t utilized fully before…”

“The military in this country is still stuck in the old system you know…”

“Aaaahh… A big-headed man at the top of the army?” 9RfI02

“Exactly. After hearing that the goddess has appeared, that guy quickly forms an anti-goddess army.”

Translator’s Notes

Yay! We’re now on Arc 2! That took a while. Anyway, this arc opens with more new characters, and you can expect that the storyline progresses more after this point. It’s gonna be full of warfare stuff, and politics. Just a heads up, this arc will be suuuuper long as compared to Arc 1. Yikes. 🥴 I think this arc probably takes a while since we’ve reached the part where they are having wars and such.

Anyway, I would love to hear your comments below. And if you like this translation, and want to read advanced chapters, kindly support me on Ko-fi. k Ep6g

  1. Isn’t suspicious that everyone have a name linked at the concept of demons and evil? Maybe I lost some tips about this, but… isn’t Yuichiro just in hell?

  2. I really hate the tone he took, I’m not a woman I won’t be ra !ed are you stupid someone can hold you against unpoint there can be 10 men holding you down and if these other goddesses were also leading wars I’m pretty sure they were strong and capable and knew some type of martial arts or something I feel like he’s being very disrespectful and dismissive about it😕
