On Saturday morning, the S-level students who were going on the trip gathered at the gates of the Preparatory School to take a bus to another city. The teacher was reminding everyone to take their seats quickly, so Xu Ze put his hand on the back of the seat in the front and grazed against Lu Heyang’s knees. Xu Ze sat down and placed his backpack on his lap.
“Give me your backpack,” Lu Heyang said.
Xu Ze didn’t ask why, he just gave it to Lu Heyang when he asked him. After taking it, Lu Heyang took out Xu Ze’s water bottle and gave it to him. Then he handed the bag to He Wei and told him to put it on the empty seat.
The bus started moving. He Wei asked Lu Heyang to play online games with him and asked Xu Ze, “Do you play games?”

“You guys go ahead,” Xu Ze said, “I won’t come over.”
He knew he was gloomy, boring, and reserved. His presence would only spoil the fun for others, so he deliberately avoided it.

Before Xu Ze could react, He Wei winked at him happily and left.
The door closed and the room became silent in an instant. Xu Ze realized in hindsight that he should have gone out with He Wei. Every second he spent alone with Lu Heyang made him extremely nervous.

Xu Ze licked the remaining ice cream from his lips and replied, “No.”
“I won’t ask again in the future.” Lu Heyang said and wiped the corner of Xu Ze’s mouth with his thumb.
He withdrew his hand and let it fall to his side. He picked up the cup with his other hand and took a sip of the warm water.
Xu Ze’s eyes remained on Lu Heyang’s hand. He had always thought that Lu Heyang had beautiful hands. He had only touched Lu Heyang’s fingers briefly when he taught him to play pool. Even then, it was just a small contact for a few seconds.
He zoned out like this, and Lu Heyang, not realizing that Xu Ze was interested in his hands, assumed that Xu Ze was looking at his wristband. He held his hand up in front of Xu Ze and asked, “Are you looking at this?”
